To study efficacy of Guduchyadi Rasakriya Anjana in the management of Arma (Pterygium)

    Get PDF
Arma Vyadhi can be compared with pterygium in modern science. There is no conservative treatment in alternative science, so we planned to search the result of Guduchyadi Rasakriya Anjana. Randomized single blind placebo controlled study was conducted on 40 patients of Arma and grouped into two. Group-A received Guduchyadi Rasakriya Anjana, while Group-B received placebo eye drop (distilled water) for a period of 21 days. Guduchyadi Rasakriya Anjana showed insignificant result in reduction of the length of Arma, visual disturbance, astigmatism, while significant results were observed in reduction of redness, foreign body sensation and watering of the eyes. Results suggest that Guduchyadi Rasakriya Anjana is helpful for prophylactic use as well as to avoided recurrence

To study the Efficacy of Jalaukavacharan and Shadanga Guggulu in Puyalasa w.s.r. to Acute Dacryocystitis

Puyalasa (Acute dacryocystitis) is an acute suppurative inflammation of lacrimal sac characterized by painful swelling in the region of sac associated with epiphora, fever and Malaise. Puyalasa, is one of the Sandhigata Roga which includes swelling in Kaninika sandhi, which later on undergoes suppuration causing thick purulent discharge. The present study was planned to assess the efficacy of Jalaukavacharana and Shadanga Guggulu in Amavastha and Pachyamanavastha of Puyalasa. Total 60 patients of Puyalasa (Amaavastha and Pachyamanavastha) were randomly selected and grouped into Group A, B and C with 20 patients in each group. The patients of Group-A received Jalaukavacharana as a line of treatment, patients of Group-B received Shadanga Guggulu and Patients of Group-C received both Jalaukavacharana and Shadanga Guggula. In all the three groups the Group-C in which both Jalaukavacharana and Shadanga Guggulu were included is very effective after treatment of 15days and statistically significant in reducing Shopha, Savedena, and Sarambha

Global agenda for livestock research: Proceedings of a consultation

    Get PDF
The objectives of this consultation are to identify priority requirements for improved livestock productivity and development of the sustainable production systems in the developing regions; to identify cross-regional priorities, major constraints, the researchable areas and issues in livestock production most likely to bring distinct benefits and impacts; and to assist identification of participants and planning for future regional research workshops. The report summarises the priority researchable issues suggested during the consultation to be considered for ILRI's broader agenda for livestock and related research. These issues include livestock production systems and feed development and improvement

Zigbee based System for Individuals with Multiple Handicapness in Household Environment

    Get PDF
Most of the prevailing smart home monitoring and control systems do not accommodate special indigent users to manage their home appliances. A wireless sensor network [WSN] based system for smart home automation can be developed, built and tested to address such missing functionality. The system’s major contribution is that it is customized to provide the special needy residents with tools and services to monitor and operate home appliances remotely. The system provides home residents with disabilities to take advantage of the advancement in technology. It enables them to perform their daily activities by remotely monitoring and controlling their home appliances independently. The system is programmed so that it can be configured to adjust to the customer’s disability providing them with better and convenient lifestyle. The system can be scalable and might be extended to incorporate additional and different services and tools. The system can provide portability, compactness, affordability and easier to use

Down Drag on an Instrumental Bored Pile in Soft Clay

The paper reports result of a comprehensive full scale field study expressly undertaken to monitor negative drag on a large diameter, bored cast-in-place reinforced concrete pile installed to rock in a deep deposit of soft marine clay of pleistaceae to recent origin. The pile was instrumented with load cells and the ground around the pile with piezometers and settlement gauges. The negative drag was generated by loading the ground around the pile in stages. The ground settlements were accelerated by providing vertical sand drains. The observational data were utilized in figuring out the influence of surcharge on the depth of clay responsible for generating the negative drag. The study has provided computational methodology for estimation of negative drag in terms of total and effective stresses. The inevitability of large ground settlement with respect to the pile brought out the non-importance of precisely ascertaining the magnitude of relative displacement necessary for mobilization of negative drag

Trust and the Demand for Personal Collateral in SME - Bank Relationships

Previous research on relationship lending has paid very little attention to the role of trust. Trust might be ex-pected to reduce agency costs, perceived credit risk and thus the request for personal collateral. Trustworthiness is associated with three attributes of SME owner/managers’: ability, benevolence and integrity. We hypothe-sised that loan managers’ assessment of the trustworthiness of owner/managers is negatively associated with the personal collateral demanded by banks. Using the quantitative and qualitative data about 457 SMEs-bank rela-tionships in North East Italy, we tested this hypothesis. The results show that trust has a minor role in reducing the request of collateral
