Modelling spherical joints in multibody systems

    Get PDF
First Online: 14 October 2021Spherical joints are commonly utilized in many real-world scenarios. From the more simplistic to the more complex perspectives, spherical joints might be modelled considering different cases. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze and compare the influence of different spherical joint modelling approaches, namely the ideal, dry, lubricated, and bushing models, on the dynamic response of multibody systems. Initially, the kinematic and dynamic aspects of the spherical joint models are comprehensively reviewed. In this process, several approaches are explored and studied considering the normal, tangential, lubrication and bushing forces experienced by the multibody systems in such cases of spherical joints. The application of the spherical joint models in the dynamic modeling and simulation of the spatial four bar mechanism is investigated. From the results obtained, it can be stated that the choice of the spherical joint model can significantly affect the dynamic response of mechanical multibody systems. This work has been supported by Portuguese Foundation for Sci ence and Technology, under the national support to R&D units grant, with the reference project UIDB/04436/2020 and UIDP/04436/2020, as well as through IDMEC, under LAETA, project UIDB/50022/2020

Social innovation has emerged as a key concept in the contemporary world, especially in the field of business and technology. This practice focuses on creating creative and sustainable solutions to social and environmental problems, and has proven to be a powerful tool for generating positive change in society. The literature on social innovation is vast and varied, including studies that explore its origins, definitions, models, success stories, and challenges. In this context, a review of the literature related to Social Innovation represents the contribution of this article to understand the different perspectives and trends in the social innovation ecosystem in Mexico.ITESO, A.C

Social Innovation: A Social Shared Competence

The article analyzes a conceptual framework to compares experiences of social innovation in Latin America, finding social innovation as a social shared competence, that crosses the borders between social and economic areas. The selected experiences are originated and guided by the satisfaction of a human need and the generation of relationships between individuals and groups of different spaces and scale. The impact of those experiences is recognized under the understanding of social innovation as a shared competence among actors. It is concluded that the different conceptualizations lead to a conceptual framework in which three key elements are proposed for their understanding: first, the orientation to social values; second, the human factor as motor, promoter and source of development; and third, alliances between different actors.ITESO, A.C
