    Strain Selection of Soybean (Glycine max (L)Merril) of F4 Generation on Saline Soil. This researchaims to select the soybeans that can grow well and good production on saline soil of F4 generation.This research was conducted at Tanjung Rejo village,subdistrict of Percut Sei Tuan, Regenecy ofDeli Serdang,the elevation is 1.5m on above sea level,since November 2012 up to January 2013.The analysis used in this research is fingerprint analysis of cross that consist of 1 variety, themethod applied is a F4 generation pedigree selection,the population is sample, number of live plantis 43 of 690. The selected plant is based on the grain production per plant for 30 plants.Based on theresults of research that based on the highest weight of seed per plant is 1.4g on the plant number514.1.8.6 and the lowest production is 0.1g on the plant number 88.5.10.2, 1298.5.3.1, 1298.5.3.30,1298.5.3.40, 1298.5.7.16 and 1298.5.7.25. The components of production that has a direct influenceto the grain production per plant are the number of branch,age of flowering,number of pod andnumber of pods contain.     Factors Affecting the Quality of Life in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta

    Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide including Indonesia with an increasing prevalence. Many factors can affect the quality of life in COPD patients. There is a lack of studies estimating these factors in Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting the quality of life of COPDpatients. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, from February to March 2017. A sample of 36 COPD patients was selected for this study. The dependent variable was quality of life. The independent variables were sex, age, education, employment, body mass index, lung obstruction level, and smoking history. Quality of life was measured by COPD Assessment Test (CAT) questionnaire. Lung obstruction level was measured by spirometry and classified by Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) 2016. The other variables were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: The quality of life of COPD patients decreased with higher body mass index (OR= 7.29; 95% CI= 0.98 to 54.27; p= 0.006), heavier pulmonary obstruction (OR= 21.00; 95% CI= 2.026 to 217.64; p<0.001), older age (OR= 2.25, 95% CI= 0.24 to 21.54; p= 0.011), and smoking history (OR= 1.58; 95% CI= 0.153 to 16.32; p= 0.010).     Induksi Mutasi Radiasi Sinar Gammapada Beberapa Varietas Kedelai Hitam (Glycine Max (L.) Merrill)

    This study aimed to get the genetic diversity some varieties of black soybeans due to the influence of gamma rays. Research was conducted at Balai Benih Induk Tanaman Palawija, Deli Serdang (+ 25 m above sea level) from April - August 2012 used randomized block design. The first factor is the radiation doses with 4 level are 0, 10, 15, and 20 krad and the second factor is three varieties are Detam-1, Detam-2, and Cikuray. The treatment was repeated three times. The results showed that radiation significant of percentage of germination, plant height at 4-5 week after plant and harvest time. Varieties significant of plant height at 2-5 week after plant, flowering time, harvest time, number of empty pods, seed weight per sample, weight of 100 seeds, but not significant of the number of productive branch and number of pod contain. Whereas, interaction between radiation and varieties only significant of plant height at 4 week after plant. Coefficient variability genotipe values ranged between 0,39 – 17,85 and coefficient variability fenotipe values ranged between 1,21 – 18,76. Heritability values ​​ranged between 0,10 - 0,96.     Build and Design of Voyage Account Applications Using C#, WPF, and SQL Server 2012 (Case Study PT. X)

    Voyage Account is an application that record consumption data on each voyage, then the data is used to calculate the profit or loss of each voyage. The application interface was created using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). Prototyping development methods were used to create these applications, C# as the programming language, and SQL Server 2012 as the database. This study discusses the making of the interface, backend, and database of application. WPF has been selected, because WPF is the latest technology developed by Microsoft after WinForms. WPF presents a display that can be customized to user needs. The test results showed that the Voyage Account application is already functioning in accordance with wishes of the user, the test is done using sql query by entering the appropriate username and password and match the query returns results with what is displayed by the application. As for testing the interface shows if WPF can be flexibly adapted to the screen resolution of 1366 x 768, 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720

    Grain size parameter of sediment in Leupung Beach, Aceh Province

    We investigated the sediment conditions on the Leupung Beach, located in Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province. Sampling was carried out in November 2018 at 3 stations along the coastline. Sediment sampling was carried out in the swash zone area by dividing each station into two zones, namely upper swash zone (USZ) and lower swash zone (LSZ). Sediment samples were taken vertically using a modified coring pipe to a depth of 15 cm. Sediment stratification was done by dividing the sample into 3 layers, where each layer has a thickness of 5 cm. The results obtained are sediment in the USZ area in the form of fine sand; moderately sorted to moderately well-sorted; symmetrical to coarse skewed; mesokurtic to very leptokurtic, while LSZ in the form of fine sand; moderately sorted to moderately well-sorted; symmetrical to coarse skewed; platykurtic t o leptokurtic. The difference in position between LSZ and USZ, relative to the water level, gives a difference in the grain size distribution between the two

Salah satu perkembangan teknologi adalah teknologi pembangkit listrik. Zaman sekarang setiap orang dalam seharinya pasti membutuhkan listrik. Seperti lampu jalan, lampu kendaraan, telepon genggam, perangkat elektronik lainnya dan sebagainya. Namun seiring dengan berkembang pesat populasi manusia, listrik yang dibutuhkan semakin besar dan berakibat “dikeruknya” lebih dalam sumber daya alam yang terbatas sebagai pembangkit seperti minyak bumi, gas alam maupun batu bara. Kita butuh solusi bagaimana caranya agar kehidupan manusia tetap berlangsung walaupun nantinya sumber daya alam sebagai pembangkit itu telah habis.     The Baduys are rice farming communities who rely on nature and the forest. Therefore, they keep and maintain their forests through customs and cultural practices. Dudungusan is preserved forest, prohibited for cultivation. Garapan is the land that can be processed into fields (huma), following the needs and rules of cultivation. Although the Baduys live in groups in small villages at the foot and slopes of hills or mountains, they keep and follow their local wisdom. This is evident from the review and the community activities that have been done earlier. There are records of the knowledge, views, and understanding of the old and young Baduys about forest conservation and identifying existing problems. The method used is the dissemination and sharing of knowledge. The results of the data collection and identification of the reference model of socialization, or carean, are used to understand the local knowledge about forest conservation. The Baduy residents in Kampong Balimbing who are involved in the research are the kokolot, or the class of older generation, whereas the youth group are participating in the process. In general, the activity is well-shared for both for the older and younger generation. In addition to this, the residents of other Baduy villages may learn from Kampong Balimbing’s wisdom

    Pesticidal plants in Africa: a global vision of new biological control products from local uses

    Botanical insecticides provide a multitude of chemistries for the development of new pest management products. Despite relatively low rates of expansion in botanically based pesticides, regulatory changes in many parts of the world are driving a renaissance for the development of new natural pest control products that are safer for human health and the environment. Africa is arguably the continent with the most to gain from developing natural plant-based pesticides. Hundreds of indigenous and exotic species with pesticidal properties have been reported from Africa through various farmer surveys and subsequent research, many of which have been confirmed to be active against a range of arthropod pests. Onfarm use of pesticidal plants, particularly among resource-poor smallholder farmers, is widespread and familiar to many African farmers. Until recently, the pyrethrum industry was dominated by East African production through small holder farmers, showing that non-food cash crop production of pesticidal plants is a realistic prospect in Africa when appropriate entrepreneurial investment and regulatory frameworks are established. This paper reviews the current status of research and commercialisation of pesticidal plant materials or botanically active substances that are used to control pests in Africa and establishes where major gaps lie and formulates a strategy for taking research forward in this area
