    WebGIS– Based Solution for Parking Slot Allotment in Defoliated Area

    In today’s modern world, parking vehicles in a defoliated area in real time is the most challenging task. To meet this requirement of the user, an application which consumes less cost and saves time is required. This paper presents such an application,where geospatial information is retrieved from satellites and analyzed to extract the information related to geography of the worldfrom the GIS service. Using WebGIS through web browser displays the solution on the map for vehicle parking which can handle huge amount of data.     In an interesting article entitled `Experiments and discoveries in q-trigonometry'', R. W. Gosper conjectured few beautiful Pi(q) and Lambert series identities. Many people have attempted confirming some of those identities in the Gosper's list, mainly by using Gosper's q-trigonometric identities. In this paper we either prove or disprove all the Pi(q) and Lambert series identities in the Gosper's list by mainly using S. Ramanujan's theta function identities and W. N. Bailey's summation formula. In the process, we obtain three new Gosper kind of identities

    Association of plasma fibrinogen and development of complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus

    Background: Fibrinogen is a glycoprotein produced by the liver that plays a crucial role in blood clotting. Elevated levels of fibrinogen have been associated with an increased risk of cardio vascular disease, stroke and other chronic conditions. Several studies have investigated the relationship between fibrinogen and diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, fibrinogen has been suggested to play a role in pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications by promoting inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. The aim of the study was done to study association of fibrinogen levels and development of complications of diabetes mellitus. Methods: A cross sectional observational study was conducted at medicine department of Dhiraj Hospital, Vadodara. Total of 114 diabetes mellitus patients were studied. The level of fibrinogen as well as presence of various risk factors like smoking, hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemia and different microvascular and macro-vascular complications were assessed. There were no conflict of interest. Results: Of 114 patients smoking, overweight, hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes and dyslipidemia was reported in 54.4%, 30.7%, 41.2%, 28.1% and 60.5% respectively. Microvascular complication like retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy was reported in 34.2%, 40.4% and 21.1% patients respectively. Macrovascular complications like coronary artery disease and stroke was reported in 20.2% and 16.7% patients respectively. Average level of fibrinogen was found higher amongst diabetic patients with microvascular as well as macrovascular complications. Conclusions: Serum fibrinogen level was found to be higher among patients with poor glycemic control, dyslipidemia, hypertension and higher BMI. A positive correlation was found between the level of fibrinogen and various complications of diabetes mellitus.

    AYURVEDA SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT OF HEPATITIS B – A CASE STUDY

    A successful case study of Ayurveda management of Hepatitis B was reported. A 19 year old patient with classical symptoms of hepatitis B assessed subjectively and objectively and meticulously recorded at all stages. Yellow discoloration of eye, urine, nails and tongue, loss of appetite, generalized itching and fatigue was noted. After enhancing digestive capacity, medicated ghee –‘Vyoshadi grta,’ was administered as per Shaman principles in a dose of 10gm twice daily. Mrudu virechana (mild purgation) induced by Trivrth lehya 20gm which resulted in 5 to 6 Vegas (bouts of loose stools). Agni (digestive capacity) has slowly but gradually increased. Diet quantity and quality was rectified as required. Rasayan prescribed in one single dose daily was Draskhavlehya, after patient showed clinically significant clearance of all symptoms. Rasayana and Ahara vihara management was continued until blood serum hepatitis antigen B reported negative. Liver Function Test, HB percent in laboratory registered normalization and clinical confirmation showed significant results. Photographs of urine and eye documented periodically. Blood reports showed radical improvements. Physically, mentally and spiritually patient has reported wellbeing. Patient moved towards Swasthya (complete wellbeing). This case study guaranteed Ayurveda management as quick, safe and effective. Large scale study was required to reconfirm reports and can be initiated on similar principles and practices

    Geospatial modelling for estimation of PM2.5 concentrations in Major cities of Peninsular India (NIAS/NSE/EECP/U/RR/03/23)

    Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution is a primary global public health concern. Exposure to PM2.5 pollution beyond the safe limits of exposure is associated inter alia with respiratory and cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. However, the baseline and background levels of PM2.5 concentration in megacities in India are significantly higher than the WHO Air Quality Guidelines which are based on studies conducted in regions with very low ambient PM concentrations. Human susceptibility to air pollution may vary based on age distribution, nutritional intake, access to health care, meteorological conditions, and any natural immunity. Therefore, it is essential to study the exposure-response function(s) specific to India using the local air pollution exposure studies. On the other hand, the air quality monitoring stations used to measure ambient PM2.5 concentration are sparse and non-uniformly distributed in urban areas and nearly-absent in rural areas leading to the misclassification of exposure in India. Therefore, the authors have developed a Linear Mixed Effects model in the present study to estimate PM2.5 levels in four major cities in peninsular India at a spatial resolution of 1 km x 1 km. Bengaluru (801 grids), Hyderabad (873 grids), Madurai (81 grids), and Vijayawada (88 grids) have been selected for this study since they are useful to estimate air pollution exposures for cities with different geographical, climatical, demographic and topographical conditions

    Knowledge, attitude and practices towards consumption of caffeine containing drinks among the student population of Ras al-Khaimah medical and health sciences university, UAE

    Background: Caffeine, world’s most widely consumed and legally accepted psychoactive substance which is commonly found ingredient in many drinks like coffee, tea, carbonated drinks and energy drinks. The objective was to explore how much dependent are the teenagers and young adults on caffeine containing drinks, reasons and circumstances for the consumption and to know the knowledge and attitude of the consumers about the health effects of the caffeine containing drinks.Methods: A validated questionnaire was administered randomly to about 298 students from MBBS, BDS, B Pharma and Nursing programmes of RAK Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU).Results: Out of 298 students in the study, 97% (n=290) of them drink caffeinated beverages in the form of coffee (53%), tea (43%), energy drinks (17%), carbonated drinks (18%) and all of the above (11%). The major reasons for consuming varied, where more than half of them gave the reason as to keep them awake for study purpose (53%), to get refreshed (51%), taste and flavour (49%). About 56% were of an opinion that they do experience different symptoms if they don’t consume their daily caffeine intake. 54% students admitted their caffeine consumption has been increased after joining the university. When knowledge and attitude were questioned, 63% of them think caffeine addiction is a health issue and majority of them were aware of the ingredients of these drinks but not the safest amount.Conclusions: Drinking caffeine containing drinks by the students are variable from different sources, so monitoring is necessary for the daily intake and there is need for educational programmes about the health effects related to high consumption of caffeine.

    Characterization of Multiphase Polypyrrole/Vanadium Oxide Nano Composites for a.c. Conductivity and Dielectric Properties

    Vanadium oxide: Phase-1 and Phase-2 nano powers were synthesized from vanadium pentoxide in the presence of glucose using hydrothermal technique. The polypyrrole/vanadium oxide (PV P-1 and PV P-2) nano composites were synthesized with 15, 30, 45 and 60 weight percents of vanadium oxide: Phase-1 and Phase-2 in pyrrole, by the chemical polymerization (oxidation) method. The SEM micrographs of vanadium oxide: Phase-1 and Phase-2 nano powders have shown  mixture of nano belts & rods and PV P-1 & PV P-2 nano composites indicate that the composites have cluster formation with almost spherical nature particles and form elongated chains at some places. Conductivity versus frequency  plots shown that exponential increase for conductivity. The value of s increases to 1.13x10-3 S/cm for 15 wt. % of VO2 P-1 in polypyrrole & to 2.43x10-3 S/cm for 30 wt. % of VO2 P-2 in polypyrrole at 1 MHz

    Securing Privacy in BSN with Chaos Based Image Encryption Scheme

    BSN play the vital role in the field of telemedicine. In BSN sensor nodes transmit different physiological information, thus privacy and security of these information become very important in these networks. In this paper we have presented a simple and secure scheme for image encryption using one-dimensional chaotic maps. This image encryption scheme first shuffles the position of pixel values using bit-level permutation method and then changes the gray values to make the complex relationship between original plain image and encrypted image. Image scrambling and diffusing, both operations are performed by logistic map and tent map. Various experiments have been conducted to test the robustness and security of proposed image cipher algorithm and the experimental results shows that the proposed scheme is resistant to different cryptanalytic attacks and provides adequate security
