In the cation of the title compound, [Ru(C15H10ClN3)2]Cl2·2H2O, the metal atom exhibits a distorted octahedral coordination geometry provided by the N atoms of two tridentate terpyridine ligands. The ligands are approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.156 (5) Å] and form a dihedral angle of 87.0 (3)°. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by C—H⋯Cl, C—H⋯O and O—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds

Amide Activation by Tf2O: Reduction of Amides to Amines by NaBH4 under Mild Conditions

An expeditious and practical method for the reduction of amides to amines is reported. The method is consisted of activation of amides with Tf2O followed by reduction with sodium borohydride in THF at room temperature. Various amides/lactams gave the corresponding amines in good to excellent yields, even with hindered amides and secondary amides. This method also presents other advantages such as TBDPS-group tolerance, short reaction time, simple workup and purification procedure.NSF of China [20832005]; National Basic Research Program (973 Program) of China [2010CB833200

Maps of cropping patterns in China during 2015–2021

    Get PDF
Multiple cropping is a widespread approach for intensifying crop production through rotations of diverse crops. Maps of cropping intensity with crop descriptions are important for supporting sustainable agricultural management. As the most populated country, China ranked first in global cereal production and the percentages of multiple-cropped land are twice of the global average. However, there are no reliable updated national-scale maps of cropping patterns in China. Here we present the first recent annual 500-m MODIS-based national maps of multiple cropping systems in China using phenologybased mapping algorithms with pixel purity-based thresholds, which provide information on cropping intensity with descriptions of three staple crops (maize, paddy rice, and wheat). The produced cropping patterns maps achieved an overall accuracy of 89% based on ground truth data, and a good agreement with the statistical data (R2 ≥ 0.89). The China Cropping Pattern maps (ChinaCP) are available for public download online. Cropping patterns maps in China and other countries with finer resolutions can be produced based on Sentinel-2 Multispectral Instrument (MSI) images using the shared code

The role of quality of care and attitude towards disability in the relationship between severity of disability and quality of life: findings from a cross-sectional survey among people with physical disability in China

Background: People with physical disability (PWPD) is the largest subgroup of people with disability (PWD) in China, but few studies have been conducted among this vulnerable population. The objective of this study was to investigate the level of quality of life (QoL), self-perceived quality of care and support (QOCS), severity of disability and personal attitude towards disability among people with physical disability in China, as well as to identify how QoL can be affected by severity of disability through QOCS and personal attitude towards disability among PWPD. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,853 PWPD in Guangzhou, China. Data were collected on participants’ QoL, QOCS, personal attitude towards disability and severity of disability. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the effects of the other variables on QoL. Results: Even with a mild disability (mean score:1.72), relatively low levels of QoL (mean score: 2.65- 3.22) and QOCS (mean score: 2.95 to 3.28), as well as unfavorable personal attitude towards disability (mean score: 2.75 to 3.36) were identified among PWPD. According to SEM, we found that the influence of severity of physical disability on QoL is not only exerted directly, but is also indirectly through QOCS and their personal attitudes towards disability, with QOCS playing a more important mediating role than PWPD’s attitudes towards their own disability. Conclusions: Unfavorable health status was identified among PWPD in China. Focusing on improvement of assistance and care services has the potential to substantially improve PWPD’s QoL. Further research should focus on understanding the needs and their current state of health care of PWPD in China thus being able to develop better interventions for them

Regulation of MicroRNA-497-Targeting AKT2 Influences Tumor Growth and Chemoresistance to Cisplatin in Lung Cancer.

Background: MicroRNA-497 (miR-497) has been implicated in several cancers. Increasing studies demonstrate the role of AKT2 in cancers as an oncogene which is closely associated with tumor aggressiveness by enhancing cancer cell survival, migration and invasion However, miR-497/AKT2 axis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unclear. Methods: Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used to quantify the expression of miR-497 and its target gene. The function of miR-497 in lung cancer was investigated through in vitro and in vivo assays (cell proliferation assay, cell migration assay, colony formation assay, flow cytometry assay, immunoblotting and tumorigenesis assay). Luciferase reporter assay was conducted to confirm the target gene of miR-497. Results: In this study, we found that miR-497 was significantly downregulated in tumor tissues and blood samples of lung cancer patients. To understand the potential mechanism of miR-497 in inhibiting tumor growth, we showed that miR-497 blocked the activation of AKT2 and regulated cell proliferation, cell migration, colony formation and increases chemosensitivity of H1299 cells to cisplatin by inhibiting AKT2. MiR-497 also inhibited tumor growth and suppressed expression of AKT2 at the protein and mRNA levels in mouse xenograft tumors. Conclusion: Taken together, our findings indicated that miR-497 suppresses the tumor growth by targeting AKT2, and the miR-497/AKT2 axis is a potential therapeutic target for NSCLC intervention
