This literature research attempts to analyze the thoughts of Qasim Amin – who is also an Egyptian reformer – in a broader perspective with relevant sources. Furthermore, the author evaluates his thoughts in the frame of modern Islamic education. This research finds that according to Qasim Amin, Egyptian women are no longer about their relationship with men, but also about sociological and independent rights as individuals who are already tied to traditional beliefs and patriarchal practices in the name of religion are fairly well established. From the thoughts of Qasim Amin, it will be directed to the problem of women in the world of education that is currently happening, where women are included or can make changes to the times. RELEVANSI PENDIDIKAN WANITA PERSPEKTIF QASIM AMIN TERHADAP PENDIDIKAN DALAM AL-QUR’AN

Dalam Masyarakat, khususnya di Mesir pada masa Qasim Amin, tradisi seklusi (pemingitan) wanita masih gencar ditegakkan dengan dalih menjaga kesucian wanita, bahkan mengejek wanita yang keluar rumah untuk mendapatkan intelektualitas. Maka Qasim Amin merasa perlu menyuarakan pentingnya pendidikan bagi wanita. Selain itu, diturunkannya al-Qur’an sebagai pedoman kehidupan manusia merupakan berkah untuk mencapai kebahagiaan sejati di dunia dan akhirat. Selain menegaskan pembebasan dan kesetaraan antara wanita dan laki-laki, al-Qur’an juga memuat persoalan pendidikan yang diangkat baik secara implisit maupun eksplisit, mulai dari proses pendidikan hingga materi pendidikan itu sendiri. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan tafsir tarbawi dan kombinasi antara metode maudhu’i dan tahlili, ditemukan bahwa pendidikan yang dikemukakan oleh Qasim Amin relevan dengan pendidikan yang terkandung dalam al-Qur’an

Using the Theory of Fundamental Causes to Show the Potential Effects of Socioeconomic Status on Surgical Outcomes

Surgical procedures are both costly and common. There are large differences in surgical outcomes both within and between hospitals based on patient characteristics such as measures of income. In both 2000 and 2009, patients residing in low-income communities had worse morbidity and mortality rates, across a wide range of quality indicators. In this review, the author will explicate the Theory of Fundamental Causes as it relates to surgical care, review key empirical findings and address potential limitations of the theory. This review will provide a platform for researchers to discuss current research in surgical disparities using the Theory of Fundamental Causes and help guide an agenda for future research
