Anatomía vascular de los tendones peroneos en el tobillo

Estudiamos la vasculación de los tendones peroneos en el tobillo de 26 miembros inferiores de fetos humanos a término mediante disección. Previamente sometemos a los especímenes a inyección de látex teñido por arteria femoral y posteriormente fijamos en formaldehído.Peer Reviewe

Hypocholesterolemic and Hepatoprotective Effects of “Triguero” Asparagus from Andalusia in Rats Fed a High Cholesterol Diet

The cultivated species of the wild autochthonous Asparagus officinalis in Andalusia in Spain is commonly called “triguero” asparagus. This vegetable has traditionally been very much appreciated for its organoleptic and nutritional characteristics. This study has been designed to evaluate the potential effect of different concentrations of freeze-dried asparagus (500, 250, and 125 mg/Kg of body weight/day) on oxidative status and lipid profile in rats fed a cholesterol-rich diet. After five weeks of treatment, doses of 250 and 500 mg/Kg of asparagus were able to significantly reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. Atherogenic index was also significantly reduced in a dose-dependent manner by administrating freeze-dried asparagus. A beneficial effect was observed in the HDL cholesterol levels in asparagus-fed groups although the increase was not significant. Consumption of asparagus also improved antioxidant status, assayed superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzymes, and protected against lipid peroxidation. These results show that the intake of green asparagus from Andalusia (Spain) helps to regulate plasma lipid levels and prevents oxidative damage in hypercholesterolemic conditions

Una Herramienta para la estimación del esfuerzo del estudiante de grado en ingeniería informática

En el marco de las nuevas titulaciones de Grado en Ingeniería Informática, resulta muy conveniente establecer algún tipo de mecanismo que nos permita recoger información sobre la dedicación real de los estudiantes a nuestras asignaturas. A nivel de asignatura, esta información puede servir al profesorado para determinar el grado de acierto de su planificación temporal inicial. A un nivel más global, los datos recogidos proporcionan a los coordinadores de curso una idea de la carga total a la que está sometido el estudiante, y contribuyen a la identificación de posibles picos (o valles) de trabajo durante el cuatrimestre. En este trabajo se describe la puesta en marcha de un sistema, basado en encuestas, para el conocimiento del esfuerzo de los estudiantes de Grado en Ingeniería Informática de la Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Informática de Albacete. También se presentan y analizan algunos de los resultados obtenidos durante el curso académico 2012/13.SUMMARY -- In the framework of new degrees in Computer Science, it is desirable to establish some mechanism to let us collect some information about our students' commitment to our courses. On the subject level, this information may be useful for the teaching staff to determine the degree of success of this initial temporary planning. In a high level point of view, the data collected provide the course coordination with an idea of the total workload of students and it contributes to identify potential peaks (or valleys) of work throughout the semester. This work presents a surveybased system to obtain and register the efforts of our Computer Engineering students from the School of Computer Engineering of Albacete. Morphological and molecular evidence of Oslerus osleri (Nematoda: Filaroididae) in the Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus)

Oslerus osleri is a cosmopolitan filaroid nematode that parasitizes the respiratory system of domestic and wild canids. Natural infection by O. osleri is reported in the Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus) in this study. Nematodes, enclosed in small and compact fibrous nodules of 1 to 5 mm in diameter, were found on the surface of the trachea near the bronchial bifurcation on four Andean foxes during necropsy (one from Cuzco, Peru and three from Northwestern Patagonia in Argentina). The nematodes were identified as O. osleri by morphological and molecular methods. Ribosomal and mitochondrial DNA analyses were performed amplifying the second internal transcribed spacer region (ITS-2), the partial cytochrome c oxidase 1 (cox1), and the large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA (LSU rRNA) genes. Sequences of the ITS-2 and LSU rRNA had a genetic variation of 1.5% and 1.0%, respectively, with previous sequences of O. osleri registered in Genbank. This is the first amplification of the cox1 gene of O. osleri and demonstrated an identity of 92% to Perostrongylus falciformis (KY365437), and 90% to Angiostrongylus cantonensis (KY779735) and Angiostrongylus costaricensis (AP017675).Fil: Gomez Puerta, Luis A..
