    Get PDF
The new realities of police cooperation and leading in the international level ask for culturally attuned and emotionally sensitive global police leaders who can react to the challenges of the particular foreign environments of various countries and complex interpersonal work situations. Also for police leaders with the different frame of responsibility, it is important to be self-aware and empathetic and be able to read and regulate their own emotions while intuitively grasping how others feel and gauging their organization’s emotional state. The most gifted leaders accomplish that by using a mysterious blend of psychological abilities known as EI. Therefore the purpose of the research is to explore how the EI impacts to successful police leadership and cooperation in a global world

    MODERN ALGORITHMS TO IDENTIFY PLAGIARISM

Nowadays information technology industry is growing extremely fast. To solve business needs, address researcher demand for problem solving a lot of programs are built from scratch. However, not all developers are fair enough to align their products with the corresponding library or another (open source) product licenses, i.e. copyrights are being violated, intentionally or due to familiarization with another source code. To address this issue in past decade multiple plagiarism detection techniques and algorithms were invented. Despite the fact, that many of them are capable of code comparison on meta-level, modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) provide convenient way to modify program source code without actual re-writing, preserving the original code workflow and avoiding plagiarism detection. This paper will compare and identify available approaches to apprehend this issue, as well as provide insights for the future this problem mitigation

The text represents both the traditional (Christian) idea of true faith that has existed for centuries, and the new one that is implemented in the neo-myth of Korotkevich in the XX century. The power in Grodno propagates the idea about faith, which is associated with enslavement of Byelorussians, violence and dictatorship. Rebels, who are striving for freedom in Belarus, asserting the rights of a Human in the society of Grodno that is not free, see the faith as love, good, confidence and devotion.KEY WORDS: faith, Christianity, humility, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, liberty, love

POSSIBLE USES OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS IN UNIVERSITY TRAINING OF IT PROFESSIONALS

In this paper, learning and knowledge control systems developed by the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology of the Riga Technical University are described. These systems are used in teaching various subjects on different study programs and specialties. The paper also presents results of use of computer systems in student self-study and self-control. Students could freely choose, whether or not to use these systems during their studies. We focused on two scenarios of non-compulsory use of computer systems, namely with a motivating system or without one. In both cases students actively used computer systems for self-control and self-study. Our research shows that using computer systems for both knowledge control and study (as opposed to knowledge control alone) increased knowledge level of all students, regardless of their overall performance.

    Get PDF
Control over any process of human activity is carried out by evaluating its result. In the field of education, the goal is, as a rule, to check the effectiveness of one or another pedagogical approach to solving the set task. For this purpose, a pedagogical experiment is planned and carried out. First, the analysis of the problem is carried out and the participants of the experiment are determined, control and experimental groups of approximately equal number and level of preparedness are formed. Further, the researched pedagogical approach is implemented, the results obtained are studied and evaluated, and conclusions are drawn. Research was conducted at the Department of Software Engineering and involved its students, as well as teachers of Riga Technical University and Baltic International Academy.  Authors have studied the impact of introducing extended course content, interdisciplinary communications and feedback in teacher-student interaction. Computer training systems, a semantic network, and statistical analysis were used as assessment methods. Research aim of this article offers an overview of methods of assessing quality of education and their comparison in order to select the best one for conducting a pedagogical experiment, which were used in Riga Technical University.

The usage of Internet by children is increasing, both with regard to the number of children going online and time spent on Internet, as well as it became a dominant and primary channel through which they communicate with one another. It is obvious, that ICTs can open a door to a better future for children, offering greater access to learning, interests contents and other benefits that can help them fulfil their potential, but in addition to that, the expansion of availability and accessibility of ICTs has also created a number of threats to person’s and especially to children’s safety, who are particularly vulnerable to ICT-facilitated crimes or cybercrimes.1 While increased and more frequent usage of ICTs entails a heightened risk of infringements on privacy and safety for all users, children are at particular risk, as they often do not fully understand the threats associated with these technologies, especially when it comes to sharing of personal information, photos or videos. Each EU country has own law system based on its historical and cultural aspects, but cybersecurity is equally important for all of them. It proves the fact that cybercrimes were recognized as one of the EU Policy Cycle’s priorities and a special role in this list belongs to improving the safety of children online. The main aim of this priority is combating child sexual abuse (CSA) and child sexual exploitation (CSE), including the production and dissemination of CSAM and CSEM. The aim of the article is to identify main threats to children’s safety in cyberspace and to evaluate the EU’s normative acts which put an order in this problem for promoting the understanding of the EU security policy and to evaluate opportunities of cyberspace improvement for children’s safety. To achieve the mentioned aim, further tasks are settled: to analyze ICT solutions, international legal acts, and tools, which provide the opportunity for the EU's police organizations to enhance the possibility to detect, investigate and prevent CSA and CSE in cyberspace; to provide recommendations for improving methods of detection, investigation and prevention of CSA and CSE in cyberspace; to reveal what can be improved in the field of international police cooperation in order to ensure successful detection and investigation of CSA and CSE in cyberspace

Forced distance learning in Covid-19: peculiarities of the position of lecturers, students of IT and humanitarian specialties

[EN] This research examines the attitude of faculty lectors, Information Technology students (IT) and humanitarian students (HS) towards the aspects of forced distance learning (DL) due to Covid-19. About 70% of the surveyed IT students and 50% of HS believe that DL can fully replace face-to-face classes and completely switch to DL, about 70% of lecturers have the opposite opinion. At the same time, IT had a 4.5 times higher chance of a positive attitude towards the transition to DL than HS. The majority of all respondents consider that their own notes are important and that classroom learning is better than online. At the same time, among IT that are ready to switch to DL, 69.03% believe that the perception of educational material is better in the classroom. Fewer IT students (30.1%) than HS (68.2%) and lecturers (100%) consider that printed textbooks are important. About 70-90% of students consider that the following DL disadvantages are important: communication difficulties, cocial isolation, the need of self-discipline and self-motivation and fears that the employer will not appreciate the knowledge gained from DL. For the majority of IT, lack of student events is significant, and for the majority of HS, lack of competition between students is important.Zagulova, D.; Prokofjeva, N.; Katalnikova, S.; Špakova, A.; Ziborova, V.; Averin, A.
