Value co-creation in early stage new product-service system development
Abstract The need to develop systems that comprise medical equipment and services to improve healthcare service efficiency and availability has become a pertinent concern in developed countries, as governments continue to focus on controlling healthcare expenditure. This research intends to explore value co-creation with multiple stakeholders at early stage new product-service system (PSS) development in regulated industries such as the medical equipment industry. This paper identifies the literature gap of stakeholder involvement in the process of new PSS development and compares the identified gap with the experience of industry practitioners. The fields relevant to the research focus are described and the characteristics of a new PSS are proposed as the basis of the research. This paper concludes with an initial proposition, that there is a need for an holistic approach to new PSS development and to have early multiple stakeholder input
Effect of disorder on the vortex-lattice melting transition
We use a three dimensional stacked triangular network of Josephson junctions
as a model for the study of vortex structure in the mixed state of high Tc
superconductors. We show that the addition of disorder destroys the first order
melting transition occurring for clean samples. The melting transition splits
in two different (continuous) transitions, ocurring at temperatures Ti and Tp
(>Ti). At Ti the perpendicular-to-field superconductivity is lost, and at Tp
the parallel-to-field superconductivity is lost. These results agree well with
recent experiments in YBaCuO.Comment: 4 pages + 2 figure
Diagnosing Capnocytophaga canimorsus Infections
We reviewed clinical and epidemiologic features of 56 human Capnocytophaga canimorsus isolates submitted during a 32-year period to California's Microbial Diseases Laboratory for identification. An increasing number of isolates identified as C. canimorsus have been submitted since 1990. Many laboratories still have difficulty correctly identifying this species
The phase diagram of high-Tc's: Influence of anisotropy and disorder
We propose a phase diagram for the vortex structure of high temperature
superconductors which incorporates the effects of anisotropy and disorder. It
is based on numerical simulations using the three-dimensional Josephson
junction array model. We support the results with an estimation of the internal
energy and configurational entropy of the system. Our results give a unified
picture of the behavior of the vortex lattice, covering from the very
anysotropic BiSrCaCuO to the less anisotropic YBaCuO, and from the first order
melting ocurring in clean samples to the continuous transitions observed in

Vortex structure and resistive transitions in high-Tc superconductors
The nature of the resistive transition for a current applied parallel to the
magnetic field in high-Tc materials is investigated by numerical simulation on
the three dimensional Josephson junction array model. It is shown by using
finite size scaling that for samples with disorder the critical temperature Tp
for the c axis resistivity corresponds to a percolation phase transition of
vortex lines perpendicularly to the applied field. The value of Tp is higher
than the critical temperature for j perpendicular to H, but decreases with the
thickness of the sample and with anisotropy. We predict that critical behavior
around Tp should reflect in experimentally accessible quantities, as the I-V

First-Order Melting and Dynamics of Flux Lines in a Model for YBaCuO
We have studied the statics and dynamics of flux lines in a model for YBCO,
using both Monte Carlo simulations and Langevin dynamics. For a clean system,
both approaches yield the same melting curve, which is found to be weakly first
order with a heat of fusion of about per vortex pancake at a
field of The time averaged magnetic field distribution
experienced by a fixed spin is found to undergo a qualitative change at
freezing, in agreement with NMR and experiments. Melting in the
clean system is accompanied by a proliferation of free disclinations which show
a clear B-dependent 3D-2D crossover from long disclination lines parallel to
the c-axis at low fields, to 2D ``pancake'' disclinations at higher fields.
Strong point pins produce a logarithmical relaxation which results from

Seed development and maturation in early spring-flowering Galanthus nivalis and Narcissus pseudonarcissus continues post-shedding with little evidence of maturation in planta
Background and Aims: Seeds of the moist temperate woodland species Galanthus nivalis and Narcissus pseudonarcissus, dispersed during spring or early summer, germinated poorly in laboratory tests. Seed development and maturation were studied to better understand the progression from developmental to germinable mode in order to improve seed collection and germination practices in these and similar species.
Methods: Phenology, seed mass, moisture content, and ability to germinate and tolerate desiccation were monitored during seed development until shedding. Embryo elongation within seeds was investigated during seed development and at several temperature regimes after shedding.
Key Results: Seeds were shed at high moisture content (> 59%) with little evidence that dry mass accumulation or embryo elongation were complete. Ability to germinate developed prior to the ability of some seeds to tolerate enforced desiccation. Germination was sporadic and slow. Embryo elongation occurred post-shedding in moist environments, most rapidly at 20C in G. nivalis and 15C in N. pseudonarcissus. The greatest germination also occurred in these regimes, 78 and 48%, respectively, after 700 d.
Conclusions: Seeds of G. nivalis and N. pseudonarcissus seeds were comparatively immature at shedding and substantial embryo elongation occurred post-shedding. Seeds showed limited desiccation tolerance at dispersal
