(DIPF/Orig.
Post-occupancy Evaluation of BuDding Facilities in a University Community Using an Electronic Platform
The study examined the prospects of carrying out a post-occupancy evaluation of building facilities in a University Community using an electronic platform.
The SRS showed the user classes and characteristics, software architecture, functionality, the coding language used and external interfaces. The Web pages were designed using HTML, while the database management system was developed using MySQL. CSharp programming language was used to control the post-occupancy system. The three main users identified in this study; the building user, the maintenance manager/facility manager and the management team can access the system to evaluate the building facilities. In conclusion. the study developed a post-occupancy evaluation system for a UDi.ve.rsity community to effectively manage the state of its building facilities. By using the proposed system, the study aims to increase the speed of maintenance works, improve the state of building facilities in schools of higher
learning and ensure accountability in the building maintenance process
Workspace environmental design evaluation to support the aged care workforce: Are we using the right evaluation approaches?
OBJECTIVES: Australia's aged care workforce is facing pressures due to increased demands from an ageing population. This paper reflects upon whether existing workspace environmental design evaluations are supporting the aged care workforce. METHODS: This brief report was informed by a 2018 Optimising Aged Care Workspace Environment Symposium with three streams: (a) Developing, (b) Implementing and (c) Evaluating Aged Care Workspace Environments. RESULTS: Symposium key messages included the following: 'evidence (lived experiences and feedback) from both older people and the aged care workforce needs to inform both development and implementation of aged care environment design'. The Evaluating Aged Care Workspace Environments stream key messages included the following: 'evaluation approaches are required that are responsive and appropriate to the complex dynamic aged care workspace contexts'. CONCLUSION: To better inform the design of future aged care settings and support the aged care workforce, principles-focused evaluations of existing aged care settings with input from the aged care workforce are required

Tackling autonomous driving challenges – how the design of autonomous vehicles is mirroring universal design
In the future, the world will be characterized by highly densely populations, with growing share of mobility-impaired/disabled persons, a critical problem regarding the sustainability of the metropolises, whose resolution may reside in autonomous vehicles. A broader range of users will be allowed a, so far, denied mobility in level 4 and level 5 SAE autonomous vehicles, a goal to be accomplished through Universal Design, a design which intends to be the closest possible to the ideal design. For such purpose, Human Factors and Ergonomics are key. Literature review and research have shown that there is evidence of application of the seven Universal Design principles in these new autonomous vehicles and that, given the nature and purpose of the Universal Design, with the increase of autonomy, there is natural increased evidence of Universal Design. A novel model for interaction of the Universal Design influencers is proposed. This work has been supported by COMPETE: POCI-01-0145-FEDER-
