Applying Software Quality Criteria to Blockchain Applications: A Criteria Catalog

    Get PDF
The selection of the suitable blockchain software ecosystem has become very complex, given the growing market. More and more products with different functionality (mainly consensus algorithms and smart contracts) are available on the market. To identify the correct blockchain system for the respective application, a catalog of criteria with a focus on software quality is developed in this work. This catalog supports the selection of the right application and can be individually weighted

The hunger strike is a form of social protest, peaceful and extreme at the same time, in which the individual's essential values are stress, like life and liberty. Both values are contained in the core of human dignity. On this basis, we study the effect of the hunger strike, from the ethical ground, legal and even constitutional dimension. Among others, we review the debate about the fundamental rights, some proposals of criminal treatment and the collisions with the rights of children and adolescents. In particular, we work on the jurisprudential treatment that have given the Superior Courts of Justice in Chile, developing a critical judgment based on an ethic of human dignity and fundamental guarantees properly, in front of questionable jurisprudential arguments that have privileged contingent solutions

The massification of higher education and the migration to online formats imply changes that affect the ways that people learn and their motivation for learning. In this sense, the motivational orientation of the student can make a difference in learning. This article aims to describe the enablers and barriers to students’ motivation for learning from the perspective of Chilean University students in the areas of health and education. The study was conducted through virtual group interviews. The analysis was carried out on the participants’ accounts from a constructivist approach to grounded theory. The results showed a valuation of the practical and altruistic motives as a structuring motivational axis. In line with the self-determination theory, the existence of a protected space in the classroom appears as an essential motivational enabler of learning, and virtuality is a critical motivational barrier

The current paper shows an end-to-end approach how to process XML files in the Hadoop ecosystem. The work demonstrates a way how to handle problems faced during the analysis of a large amounts of XML files. The paper presents a completed Extract, Load and Transform (ELT) cycle, which is based on the open source software stack Apache Hadoop, which became a standard for processing of a huge amounts of data. This work shows that applying open source solutions to a particular set of problems could not be enough. In fact, most of big data processing open source tools were implemented only to address a limited number of the use cases. This work explains and shows, why exactly specific use cases may require significant extension with a self-developed multiple software components. The use case described in the paper deals with huge amounts of semi-structured XML files, which supposed to be persisted and processed daily
