Shorted Operators Relative to a Partial Order in a Regular Ring
In this paper, the explicit form of maximal elements, known as shorted
operators, in a subring of a von Neumann regular ring has been obtained. As an
application of the main theorem, the unique shorted operator (of electrical

Localized Charge Transfer Process and Surface Band Bending in Methane Sensing by GaN Nanowires
The physicochemical processes at the surfaces of semiconductor nanostructures
involved in electrochemical and sensing devices are strongly influenced by the
presence of intrinsic or extrinsic defects. To reveal the surface controlled
sensing mechanism, intentional lattice oxygen defects are created on the
surfaces of GaN nanowires for the elucidation of charge transfer process in
methane (CH4) sensing. Experimental and simulation results of electron energy
loss spectroscopy (EELS) studies on oxygen rich GaN nanowires confirmed the
possible presence of 2(ON) and VGa-3ON defect complexes. A global resistive
response for sensor devices of ensemble nanowires and a localized charge
transfer process in single GaN nanowires are studied in situ scanning by Kelvin
probe microscopy (SKPM). A localized charge transfer process, involving the
VGa-3ON defect complex on nanowire surface is attributed in controlling the

Identification of pH tolerant Bradyrhizobium japonicum strains and their symbiotic effectiveness in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] in low nutrient soil
Eight strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum were isolated from the root nodules of soybean cultivar PK 472 collected from Adaptive Trial Centre, Bundi, India. All the isolates were authenticated through plant assay test in germination pouches. Growth of the isolated strains on different pH levels was observed and three strains namely Bj-3, Bj-5 and Bj-8 were found to be able to grow up to pH 8.5. Symbiotic efficiency of these isolates was determined under the mist house conditions in the sterilized sandy soil (pH 8.4). Maximum and minimum nodulation and vegetative growth were observed in Bj-3 and Bj-2 inoculated soybean plants, respectively. Three pH tolerant strains could also pose better results in the efficiency determination experiment. Modulation of testicular lutropin receptors in the developing male rat
In the developing male rat around 40 days of age, the testis appears to contain the maximum amount of lutropin receptors per unit weight. During this period, circulating levels of testosterone markedly increase without the concomitant major surges in lutropin levels. The increased sensitivity and responsiveness of tests to basal levels of circulating lutropin during this period is accompanied by enhanced serum prolactin levels suggesting that this hormone may be involved in this process. The finding that prolactin treatment of pubertal rats for 3 days induced the formation of more testicular lutropin receptors supports the above premise. However, shortterm immunoneutralisation of endogenous prolactin did not significantly alter the specific binding of [125I]-labelled lutropin to testicular membranes. Interestingly, during development, a close correction exists between receptor occupancy and capacity of the tissue to bind labelled lutropin. The apparent dissociation between serum lutropin levels, on the one hand and tissue occupancy and free receptor contents on the other, suggests that factors other than lutropin (presumably prolactin) are involved in the modulation of the sensitivity and the responsiveness of the testis to lutropin during early development
Isolation of sheep anterior pituitary messenger RNA and its translation in a heterologous cell-free system
A preparation rich in the specific messenger RNA involved in the synthesis of prolactin from sheep anterior pituitary glands was obtained by employing both the immunochemical and affinity techniques. A dose-dependent and efficient stimulation of protein synthesis by the isolated total pituitary RNA as well as poly (A) rich RNA were achieved with the reticulocyte system. The synthesis of prolactin as one of the translational products of this cell-free system was established by specific immunoprecipitation followed by resolution on sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
Heat and Mass Transfer Effects of Peristaltic Transport of a Nano Fluid in Peripheral layer
This paper deals with a theoretical investigation of heat and mass transfer effects of peristaltic transport of a nanofluid in peripheral layer. By using appropriate methods, the velocity in the core region as well as in the peripheral region, pressure drop, time averaged flux, frictional force, temperature profile, nanoparticle phenomenon, heat transfer coefficient and mass transfer coefficient of the fluid are investigated, using lubrication theory. Effects of different physical parameters like viscosity ratio, mean radius of the central layer, Brownian motion parameter, thermophoresis parameter, local temperature Grashof number as well as local nanoparticle Grashof number on pressure rise characteristics, frictional force, heat transfer coefficient, mass transfer coefficient, velocity profiles and streamline patterns of the fluid are studied. The computational results are presented in graphical form
Spontaneous polarization and rotational viscosity measurements on ferroelectric liquid crystals derived from trans-p-n-alkoxycinnamic acids
We report here the results of systematic measurements of spontaneous polarization and rotational viscosity on four structurally related homologous series derived from trans-p-n-alkoxycinnamic acids. The influence of alkyl chain length on the magnitude and temperature dependence of the polarization, and the effect of subtle structural changes on the rotational viscosity are discussed
