The purpose of the article is to identify the problems of Russian cities and urban-type settlements from the standpoint of their historical and economic development. Using the methodology of economic, statistical and retrospective analysis, it was revealed that along with the growth of large cities in recent years, there has been a tendency towards a reduction in small settlements, which is associated with a decrease in industrial production. The result of this is the active development of urban processes, leading to the concentration in large cities of the scientific, technical and intellectual and production potential of the regions, their transformation into self-sufficient centers for the development of territorial socio-economic locations. The result of the study is the substantiation of the need to create new methodological approaches to the development and placement of productive forces, planning of urban areas, solving problems of energy and resource supply of territories on the basis of achieving their ecological and economic efficiency. The concept of the decisive role of the resource-saving factor in the process of urbanization of territories is substantiated. It was revealed that the approach to the analysis and modeling of the city economy when considering it as a "quasi-corporation" involves the formation of an integrated reproduction system based on increasing the efficiency of the use of territory resources, which translates the process of planning the development of the urban environment into the category of business process technologies

The Economics of Innovation in Modern Russia: Practice, Problems and Prospects

In formed over the past quarter century in Russia the competitive market system has come to the fore the profitability of innovation, especially in production systems, industry and construction. Slightly less profitability factor manifests itself in the evaluation of innovations in social systems, yielding the position of the virtual indicator of socially useful significance of such innovations: the expansion and improvement of educational, children's and medical institutions, objects of culture and sports, non-profit facilities, “relaxation” and recreation. In the latter case, the economic effect of innovation is manifested in an indirect form, and after a considerable lapse of time: in the employability and technical culture of employees, in expanding the number and improving the quality of the labor pool in the intellectualization of law and order and labour discipline (law-abiding, tolerance) etc. Keywords: innovation, economic efficiency, new appliances, security, industrial equipment and machinery, wear and tear, cluster JEL Classification: O14, Q26, Q57, Q5

The kinetics of thermal annealing of the basic electron (F, F+) and hole (V) centers in stoichiometric MgAl2O4 spinel irradiated by fast neutrons and protons is analyzed in terms of diffusion-controlled bimolecular reactions. Properties of MgAl2O4 single crystals and optical polycrystalline ceramics are compared. It is demonstrated that both transparent ceramics and single crystals, as well as different types of irradiation show qualitatively similar kinetics, but the effective migration energy Ea and pre-exponent D0 are strongly correlated. Such correlation is discussed in terms of the so-called Meyer-Neldel rule known in chemical kinetics of condensed matter. The results for the irradiated spinel are compared with those for sapphire, MgO and other radiation-resistant materials.Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia as the Center of Excellence has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme H2020-WIDESPREAD-01-2016-2017-TeamingPhase2 under grant agreement No. 739508, project CAMART

Scientific justification of the perforation methods for Famennian deposits in the southeast of the Perm Region based on geomechanical modelling

The article presents the results of analysing geological structure of the Famennian deposits (Devonian) in the Perm Region. Numerical modelling of the distribution of inhomogeneous stress field near the well was performed for the two considered types of perforation. With regard for the geometry of the forming perforation channels, numerical finite element models of near-wellbore zones were created considering slotted and cumulative perforation. It is ascertained that in the course of slotted perforation, conditions are created for a significant restoration of effective stresses and, as a result, restoration of reservoir rock permeability. Stress recovery area lies near the well within a radius equal to the length of the slots, and depends on the drawdown, with its increase, the area decreases. From the assessment of failure areas, it was found that in case of slotted perforation, the reservoir in near-wellbore zone remains stable, and failure zones can appear only at drawdowns of 10 MPa and more. The opposite situation was recorded for cumulative perforation; failure zones near the holes appear even at a drawdown of 2 MPa. In general, the analysis of results of numerical simulation of the stress state for two simulated types of perforation suggests that slotted perforation is more efficient than cumulative perforation. At the same time, the final conclusion could be drawn after determining the patterns of changes in permeability of the considered rocks under the influence of changing effective stresses and performing calculations of well flow rates after making the considered types of perforation channels

Strain Hardening of Polypropylene Microfiber Reinforced Composite Based on Alkali-Activated Slag Matrix

    No full text
A comparative study of the fracture features, strength and deformation properties of pseudo strain-hardening composites based on alkali-activated slag and Portland cement matrices with polypropylene microfiber was carried out. Correlations between their compositions and characteristics of stress–strain diagrams under tension in bending with an additional determination of acoustic emission parameters were determined. An average strength alkali-activated slag matrix with compressive strength of 40 MPa and a high-strength Portland cement matrix with compressive strength of 70 MPa were used. The matrix compositions were selected for high filling the composites with polypropylene microfiber in the amount of 5%-vol. and 3.5%-vol. ensuring the workability at the low water-to-binder ratios of 0.22 and 0.3 for Portland cement and alkali-activated slag matrices, respectively. Deformation diagrams were obtained for all studied compositions. Peaks in the number of acoustic signals in alkali-activated slag composites were observed only in the strain-softening zone. Graphs of dependence of the rate of acoustic events occurrence in samples from the start of the test experimentally prove that this method of non-destructive testing can be used to monitor structures based on strain-hardening composites

Halogen-Doped Chevrel Phase Janus Monolayers for Photocatalytic Water Splitting

    No full text
Chevrel non-van der Waals crystals are promising candidates for the fabrication of novel 2D materials due to their versatile crystal structure formed by covalently bonded (Mo6X8) clusters (X–chalcogen atom). Here, we present a comprehensive theoretical study of the stability and properties of Mo-based Janus 2D structures with Chevrel structures consisting of chalcogen and halogen atoms via density functional theory calculations. Based on the analysis performed, we determined that the S2Mo3I2 monolayer is the most promising structure for overall photocatalytic water-splitting application due to its appropriate band alignment and its ability to absorb visible light. The modulated Raman spectra for the representative structures can serve as a blueprint for future experimental verification of the proposed structures
