Energy resolution and efficiency of phonon-mediated Kinetic Inductance Detectors for light detection

The development of sensitive cryogenic light detectors is of primary interest for bolometric experiments searching for rare events like dark matter interactions or neutrino-less double beta decay. Thanks to their good energy resolution and the natural multiplexed read-out, Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) are particularly suitable for this purpose. To efficiently couple KIDs-based light detectors to the large crystals used by the most advanced bolometric detectors, active surfaces of several cm2^2 are needed. For this reason, we are developing phonon-mediated detectors. In this paper we present the results obtained with a prototype consisting of four 40 nm thick aluminum resonators patterned on a 2×\times2 cm2^2 silicon chip, and calibrated with optical pulses and X-rays. The detector features a noise resolution σE=154±7\sigma_E=154\pm7 eV and an (18±\pm2)%\% efficiency.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Ion-Acoustic Solitons in Bi-Ion Dusty Plasma

The propagation of ion-acoustic solitons in a warm dusty plasma containing two ion species is investigated theoretically. Using an approach based on the Korteveg-de-Vries equation, it is shown that the critical value of the negative ion density that separates the domains of existence of compressi- on and rarefaction solitons depends continuously on the dust density. A modified Korteveg-de Vries equation for the critical density is derived in the higher order of the expansion in the small parameter. It is found that the nonlinear coefficient of this equation is positive for any values of the dust density and the masses of positive and negative ions. For the case where the negative ion density is close to its critical value, a soliton solution is found that takes into account both the quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. The propagation of a solitary wave of arbitrary amplitude is investigated by the quasi-potential method. It is shown that the range of the dust densities around the critical value within which solitary waves with positive and negative potentials can exist simultaneously is relatively wide.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figure

Relationships between caused by drinking of bioactive water Naftussya changes in urine lithogenicity and neuro-humoral-immune factors in humans with theirs abnormalities

Objective. Spa Truskavets' (Ukraine) considered to be indicated for the treatment and metaphylaxis renal stone disease. However, data on the effect of balneotherapy on the parameters of urine Lithogenicity ambiguous. This is due, perhaps, ambiguous influence balneotherapy on the neuroendocrine factors regulating exchange of electrolytes and uric acid. Aim: to find out the influence drinking of bioactive water Naftussya on urine lithogenicity and neuro-humoral-immune factors in humans with theirs abnormalities. Methods. The object of observation were ten women and ten men aged 33-76 years without clinical diagnose but with dysfunction of neuro-endocrine-immune complex and metabolism. In daily urine and blood we determined the content of electrolytes and nitrogenous metabolites, estimated parameters of immunity, recorded conductivity of acupuncture points and heart rate variability (HRV). After examination volunteers within 7 days used bioactive water Naftussya (250 ml three times a day), then repeated the tests listed. Results. Lithogenicity urine Index (Lith) calculated by formula: Lith=(Uric acid•Calcium/Magnesium•Creatinine)0,25. In 3 people initial normal Lith (0,65÷0,81 units) increased by 0,08÷0,16 units. In 4 people with normal or high Lith its changes were not detected (-0,01÷+0,01). In 12 people from a wide range of primary Lith (0,62÷1,07) it lowered by 0,03÷0,12 un. Even in a man maximum level of Lith (1,45 un.) down to the upper limit of normal (0,84 un.). Found a strong correlation between changes in Lith and a number parameters of HRV, metabolism and immunity. Conclusion. The use of bioactive water Naftussya causes ambiguous changes in Lithogenicity of urine, related to ambiguous changes in HRV, metabolism and immunity

Peristaltic Transport of a Couple Stress Fluid: Some Applications to Hemodynamics

The present paper deals with a theoretical investigation of the peristaltic transport of a couple stress fluid in a porous channel. The study is motivated towards the physiological flow of blood in the micro-circulatory system, by taking account of the particle size effect. The velocity, pressure gradient, stream function and frictional force of blood are investigated, when the Reynolds number is small and the wavelength is large, by using appropriate analytical and numerical methods. Effects of different physical parameters reflecting porosity, Darcy number, couple stress parameter as well as amplitude ratio on velocity profiles, pumping action and frictional force, streamlines pattern and trapping of blood are studied with particular emphasis. The computational results are presented in graphical form. The results are found to be in good agreement with those of Shapiro et. al \cite{r25} that was carried out for a non-porous channel in the absence of couple stress effect. The present study puts forward an important observation that for peristaltic transport of a couple stress fluid during free pumping when the couple stress effect of the fluid/Darcy permeability of the medium, flow reversal can be controlled to a considerable extent. Also by reducing the permeability it is possible to avoid the occurrence of trapping phenomenon

Background. In our last study has formed three homogeneous cholekinetics groups, namely: normokinesia a s well as hypertonic-hyperkinetic and hyperkinetic-hypertonic dyskinesia. The purpose of this study to identify the parameters of neuroendocrine-immune complex under which three types of the gall - bladder motility differ significantly from each other. Material and methods. The object of observation were the same ones 22 men aged 24-70 years old, who came to the spa Truskavets’ for the treatment of chronic cholecystitis combined with pyelonephritis in remission. On the tone and motility of gall-bladder judged by its fasting and postprandial volume. In the daily urine determined content of electrolytes: phosphates, calcium, potassium and sodium. Estimation state of central and autonomous nervous systems carried out by electroencephalogram (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV). Immune status evaluated on a set of I and II levels recommended by the WHO. Results. The method of discriminatory analysis revealed 23 parameters (12 immune, 7 EEG and 2 HRV as well as Parathyrine activity and Popovych’s Adaptation Index), in the totality of which three types of cholekinetics are clearly delineated. Conclusion. The results confirm the pattern of the previously detected prior reactions of various systems of the organism to the balneofactors of the spa Truskavets’
