    Usage, Utilization, Usefulness (U3 Model) and Challenges Faced in Social Networking Sites by Academicians

    The study aims to determine if academicians from professional colleges use SNS  to determine an association between demographic variables and factors. Variables and factors such as the purpose of SNS use, benefits of using SNS, improvement in factors of academic performance, challenges faced by academicians, and benefits of SNS in research work. The research method has used a survey with a questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed to the academicians in selected professional colleges in and around Pune city, and responses were collected. The study observed that most faculties from professional colleges have accounts and are familiar with different SNS. It gives the ranking of SNS by Garrett’s Ranking Technique as per the personal and academic use of SNS by academicians. Academicians get various benefits from using SNS, whereas they also face some challenges while using SNS. It is discussed with percentage analysis. Using ANOVA and PAIRED SAMPLE “t” TEST found a significant association between the Demographic variables and the factors under usage of Social Networking Sites. The factors especially considered towards satisfaction using Social Networking Sites by the academicians were analyzed using multiple regression analysis.https://dorl.net/dor/20.1001.1.20088302.2021.19.2.10.

    Insights from U.S. deaf patients: Interpreters’ presence and receptive skills matter in patient-centered communication care

    In the U.S., deaf individuals who use sign language have a legislated right to communication access in the healthcare system, which is often addressed through the provision of signed language interpreters. However, little is known about deaf patients’ perception of interpreter presence, its impact on their disclosure of medical information to physicians, and whether this perception affects their assessment of physicians’ patient-centered communication behaviors (PCC). A total of 811 deaf adults responded to questions on a bilingual ASL-English online survey about their experiences with interpreters and physicians. Logistic regression analysis was used to assess the relationship between deaf patients’ perception of interpreters’ presence with disclosure of medical information and deaf patients’ ratings of their physicians’ patient-centered communication behaviors. The majority of deaf respondents reported feeling that an interpreter’s presence does not interfere with disclosure of medical information to their provider; however, approximately 27% responded that an interpreter’s presence does interfere with their disclosure of medical information. After controlling for correlates of physicians’ patient-centered communication behaviors, the negative perception of interpreters’ presence was associated with 1) low ratings of interpreters’ ability to understand their signed communication, and 2) low ratings of physicians’ patient-centered communication behaviors. Deaf patients’ perception of interpreters’ interference with disclosure of medical information to physicians has implications for trust relationships between the deaf patient and the interpreter, as well as between the deaf patient and physician. Understanding the importance of establishing trust in interpreter-mediated healthcare encounters may foster additional training of interpreters’ receptive skills and inform physician’s patient-centered care for deaf patients

    RFID Based Smart Car Parking System Using IOT

    Now a days the use of vehicles is increasing day by day, the major problem in densely populated areas is lack of parking availability. The RFID technique is the mostly used technique to overcome or eradicate the cause. The existing technique of RFID concept is to check the balance amount in the card rather than finding the availability of parking lots at remote location. The major disadvantage in this existing methodology is tracing the amount deducted and it varies from time to time on various slots. Hence we provide a solution i.e., by this proposed method we ensure an efficient monitoring system that allows for tracking availability of spaces in parking areas in remote areas like malls, parks and other public places as well. This project forecasts all the possible ways to reduce parking tension. This project aims at interfacing RFID concept with Internet of Things (IoT). IoT establishes a client server communication that enables the user for remote communication regarding availability of parking slots from distance. In order to enhance a mobile friendly environment an website is being developed that gives prior information to the user about the availability of parking slot and thereby enabling them to book the slot for parking from a distance and the slot remains booked for a period of half an hour there by waits for the user to arrive until the specified time is reached. When the time exceeds, the user needs to book the slot again if available. This ensures minimization of traffic constraints in parking areas. This can be implemented in shopping malls where usually traffic problems arise due to lack or unavailability of parking

    A prospective, open label clinical study to evaluate the safety, efficacy and tolerability of azadvir herbal steam inhaler in asymptomatic, mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients and health care workers posted to covid wards

    Background: COVID-19 patients experience cytokine storm which cause pulmonary and extra-pulmonary complications even with currently available of standard of care. Additional antiviral and immune boosters are the need of hour to treat COVID-19 and to prevent post covid complications.Methods: In this study we enrolled 40 asymptomatic to mild COVID-19 patients to receive azadvir herbal steam inhaler along with standard of care. We evaluated the benefits of azadvir herbal steam inhaler by assessing RT-PCR conversion, clinical outcomes and improvement in immune markers (LDH, CRP, D-DIMER).Results: At the end of the study the immune markers improved significantly in study patients. In mild symptomatic cases IL-6 was 23.2 pg/ml on day 0 and 21.8 pg/ml on day 14. Reduction in IL-6 in mild symptomatic patients was statistically highly significant (p=0.0056). Mean IL-6 in asymptomatic patients was 22.3 pg/ml on day 0 and 21.1 pg/ml on day 14. Reduction in IL-6 in asymptomatic patients was statistically highly significant (p=0.0035).  Mean D-dimer was showing decreasing trend from day 0 to day 14 in mild symptomatic patients. In asymptomatic patients D dimer was 0.8 µg/ml on day 0 and 0.6 µg/ml on day 14. D-dimer decreased significantly from day 0 to day 14 (p value =0.0013). Mean LDH values on day 0 in mild symptomatic patients was 319.4 U/l and 219.3 on day 14. The reduction in LDH values in mild symptomatic patients is statistically significant (p value <0.0122). In asymptomatic patients mean LDH values on day 0 was 237 U/l and 194 U/l on day 14. The reduction in LDH values in asymptomatic group was statistically significant. Mean CRP values in mild symptomatic patients on day 0 was 12.2 mg/l and 3.8 mg/l on day 14. There was significant reduction in CRP values in mild symptomatic group which was statistically significant (p value =0.0546). Mean CRP values in asymptomatic patients on day 0 was 4.9 mg/l and 2.8 mg/l on day 14. There was significant reduction in mean CRP in asymptomatic patients which was statistically significant (p value =0.0446). In the present study all 40 patients (100%) cleared the virus and became negative for RT PCR test within 6 days. None of the patients progressed to severe COVID-19 and none of the patients succumbed to the disease.Conclusions: Azadvir accelerated recovery of COVID-19 patients by RT-PCR conversion, early improvement in clinical symptoms and immune markers in this study. This study results clearly indicates that azadvir has antiviral, immune booster activity and has definitive role in the management of asymptomatic to mild COVID-19 patients along with standard of care (CTRI no.     A derivation of Maxwell’s equations using the Heaviside notation

    Maxwell's four differential equations describing electromagnetism are among the most famous equations in science. Feynman said that they provide four of the seven fundamental laws of classical physics. In this paper, we derive Maxwell's equations using a well-established approach for deriving time-dependent differential equations from static laws. The derivation uses the standard Heaviside notation. It assumes conservation of charge and that Coulomb's law of electrostatics and Ampere's law of magnetostatics are both correct as a function of time when they are limited to describing a local system. It is analogous to deriving the differential equation of motion for sound, assuming conservation of mass, Newton's second law of motion and that Hooke's static law of elasticity holds for a system in local equilibrium. This work demonstrates that it is the conservation of charge that couples time-varying E-fields and B-fields and that Faraday's Law can be derived without any relativistic assumptions about Lorentz invariance. It also widens the choice of axioms, or starting points, for understanding electromagnetism

    Aquipuribacter nitratireducens sp. nov., isolated from a soil sample of a mud volcano

    A novel Gram-stain-positive, coccoid, non-motile bacterium, designated strain AMV4T, was isolated from a soil sample collected from a mud volcano located in the Andaman Islands, India. The colony was pale orange. Strain AMV4T was positive for oxidase, aesculinase, lysine decarboxylase and ornithine decarboxylase activities and negative for amylase, catalase, cellulase, protease, urease and lipase activities. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain AMV4T was a member of the order Actinomycetales and was closely related to Aquipuribacter hungaricus with a sequence similarity of 97.13 % (pairwise alignment). Phylogenetic analyses showed that strain AMV4T clustered with Aquipuribacter hungaricus and was distantly related to the other genera of the family Intrasporangiaceae. DNA–DNA hybridization between strains AMV4T and Aquipuribacter hungaricus IV-75T showed a relatedness of 28 %. The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0 (6.9 %), anteiso-C15 : 0 (25.3 %), C16 : 0 (12.9 %), anteiso-C16 : 0 (5.6 %), C18 : 1ω9c (19.8 %) and C18 : 3ω6,9,12c (9.1 %). The diagnostic diamino acid in the cell-wall peptidoglycan of strain AMV4T was meso-diaminopimelic acid. Strain AMV4T contained MK-10(H4) as the predominant respiratory quinone. The polar lipids consisted of phosphatidylglycerol, one unidentified glycolipid, two unidentified phospholipids and five unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content of strain AMV4T was 74.3 mol%. Based on data from this taxonomic study using a polyphasic approach, it is proposed that strain AMV4T represents a novel species of the genus Aquipuribacter, with the suggested name Aquipuribacter nitratireducens sp. nov. The type strain is AMV4T ( = CCUG 58430T = DSM 22863T = NBRC 107137T)
