In the famous paper of Terry Lyons a new approach to solving a general class of stochastic differential equations with nonsmooth data was propose

MPA policy: What lies behind the science?

    Get PDF
What the current policy debate on marine protected areas (MPAs) and marine reserves (MRs) has failed to address is the fact that protection of the marine environment has as much to do with scientists, and others values as it has to do with science. To date natural science has played a dominant role in the implementation of MPAs, yet normative considerations which are embedded in the way scientists and the wider community think about the condition the marine environment should be in, and which may influence decision-making, are rarely acknowledged or discussed. This paper seeks to correct that deficiency by investigating the values that lie behind the natural science of MPAs. With the aid of epistemic community, advocacy coalition and discourse coalition theories of policy networks, this article explores the role science and scientists have played in influencing policy on MPAs at the global and national level, and looks at the extent to which normative conceptualisations within and beyond natural science have influenced the debate

On boundedness of certain integral operators

    Get PDF
We study mapping properties of two-dimensional linear integral operators in some weighted spaces with special kernels. The considered spaces are certain variant of Sobolev-Slobodetskii spaces and their generalizations related to Banach spaces. Sufficient conditions for boundedness for such operators in these spaces are obtaine

Linear equations in Banach spaces with a distributed fractional derivative given by the Stieltjes integral and with a closed operator A in the right-hand side are considere

Metal vapor lasers with increased reliability

    Get PDF
Results of investigation and development of an excitation pulse generator with magnetic pulse compression by saturation chokes for pumping of active media of CuBr, Sr, and Ca vapor lasers are presented. A high-power IGBT transistor is used as a commutator. The generator can operate at excitation pulse repetition frequencies up to 20 kHz. The total average power for all laser lines of the CuBr laser pumped by this generator is ~6.0 W; it is ~1.3–1.7 W for the Sr and Ca lasers

Review of experimental results from SND detector

    Get PDF
The review of experimental results obtained with SND detector at VEPP-2M e+ee^+e^- collider in the energy region s=0.36\sqrt[]{s}=0.36 -- 1.38 GeV is given. The presented results include the following items: studies of the light vector mesons radiative decays, OZI-rule and G-parity suppressed ϕ\phi-meson rare decays, ϕ\phi-meson parameters measurements, studies of e+eπ+ππ0e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0 process dynamics, η\eta and KSK_S mesons rare decays, η\eta and ϕ\phi mesons conversion decays, and study of the e+ee^+e^- annihilation into hadrons.Comment: 12 pages and 6 figures. Talk given at the IX International Conference on Hadron Spectroskopy, Protvino, Russia, August 25 - September 1, 200

STUDY ON MARKET PROCESS OF TUNA POLE-AND-LINE FISHERY IN EASTERN INDONESIA: A STUDY CASE IN SORONG, PAPUA BARAT PROVINCE

    Get PDF
This research is a study of the way the small-scale pole-and-line tuna fishery in Sorong, Indonesia by examining official records of supply chains; key informant and fishers’ perceptions of marketing; and personal observations of landings and selling. The main finding of the study is that the pole-and-line fishers in Sorong have made strenuous efforts to escape the constrictions of middlemen by direct selling to processors.
