The ancestor of reportage? About the letter of conquistador Hernan Cortes who conquered the Kingdom of the Aztecs

Publikacja jest zbiorem artykułów eksplorujących relacje między dziennikarstwem a literaturą z różnych perspektyw i w różnych obszarach językowych. Wobec postępującej w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach kontaminacji między dziennikarstwem a literaturą autorzy tekstów pochylają się nad historycznymi związkami między badanymi dziedzinami (począwszy od starożytności do czasów najbardziej współczesnych), stawiają pytania dotyczące kontekstów kulturowych determinujących badaną ekspresję, przyglądają się typowym dla niej środkom wyrazu, wychwytują nieuniknioną hybrydyzację form oraz kreślą sylwetki konkretnych dziennikarzy-pisarzy. Wartością dodaną jest zderzenie perspektyw badawczych w odniesieniu do różnych kręgów kulturowych (hiszpański, latynoamerykański, francuski, bułgarski, polski, amerykański, angielski, germański, klasyczny, włoski). Takie ujęcie prowadzi do wieloaspektowej problematyzacji niezwykle aktualnego wymiaru współczesnej kultury.W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono problematykę szeroko związaną z reportażem. Autorki, oprócz zaprezentowania tego gatunku, stawiają pytanie o granice między literaturą a relacją opartą na faktach. Jako egzemplifikację przywołano list traktujący o podboju Meksyku, którego autorem jest szesnastowieczny słynny konkwistador Hernán Cortés. Sposób przedstawienia wydarzeń, ale również cel stworzenia takiej relacji nasuwają pytania o charakter tego typu formy wypowiedzi i jej powiązania z reportażem, na które to pytania starają się odpowiedzieć autorki.In this paper there were presented issues widely connected with reportage. Authors, besides the description of this genre, ask the question about boundaries between literature and report based on facts. As the form of exemplification it was recalled the letter, which focuses on the conquest of Mexico, written by famous 16th century conquistador Hernán Cortés. The way of showing the events and the aim of writing this report lead some questions about the character of that form of expression and its connection with reportage, which we tried to answer

The text begins with the brief recall of the low-context and hihg-context cultures' classification andthe explanation of this phenomenon. In the analogous manner is also considered the issue of contact between the different cultures. To explore the topic there has been done a kind of going back in time to show the reasons which led to the encounter of the Old and the New World and the reasons which motivated the Spaniards during the conquest. The system of values of the Spanish conquistadors setting off to America is also analyzed. Their priorities are compared with the hierarchy of values which led the Anglo-Saxons during their conquest of North America. The initial recall of the classification of low-context and high-context cultures explains the contact of the Old and New World with their whole cultural diversification. Spanish people setting out to conquer the New World in the fifteenth century were guided by the desire to get measurable benefits such as riches and offices but also the ability to gain immortal fame. In the group of the representatives of this chivalrous nation the confirmation of their bravery was a very important question. We have also indicated women who decided to take an active part in the work of the conquest and colonization of the lands of Latin America in the sixteenth century. In spite of the fact that the characters of this text came from conservative society, some of them set off on a journey and did not hesitate to take part in such a difficult and dominated by men experience which was the conquest and colonization of the New World and the work of building new society such similar to the Spanish one, but different at the same time.El texto empieza recordando brevemente la clasificación de culturas de alto y de bajo contexto con una descripción de estos fenómenos. Asimismo se reflexiona sobre la cuestión de contactos entre distintas culturas. Para llegar a la esencia del tema, se hizo un viaje atrás en la historia para demostrar la causa del encuentro entre el Viejo y el Nuevo Mundo y las premisas que llevaron a los españoles durante la conquista. Se analizaron también los valores de los conquistadores españoles que salían a América. Dichas prioridades se compararon con la jerarquía de valores asumida por los anglosajones durante la conquista de la América del Norte

Notes on plans for a monastery of culture based on research on artistic radio communication

The title of this article treats the monastery as a cultural figure. Part of a monastery complex’s overall design plans are sketches of small chambers, corresponding to artistic radio works. In beginning of the article, I sketch out the scope of my research, discuss its main points, and review my basic assumptions in this radio studies topic area, which arose from an examination of artistic radio communication. Following my conviction that this scientific discipline requires a broad interdisciplinary background, the first part of the article consists of research in artistic radio studies and on culture through a newly defined humanities. The second part of the article covers the basic elements that should be included in this sub-discipline. All of these (to the extent possible in the case of this medium) are shown over a long-term horizon; I focus on explaining the following questions and issues: how should we attempt to answer questions about the status of the audience (e.g. whether radio listeners can be seen as a cultural group); what insights can be gained into the development of technology and its influence on artistic radio works, as well as the continuous increase in the potential of the “acoustic kitchen”, which is important for broadcasters. I also try to demonstrate the impact of artistic radio-communications on changes in culture as a whole

An Introduction to the Discussion on Radio-Drama Criticism

The article deals with the phenomenon of anti-rhetorical polemics in the Romanticism - its causes and consequences. In the Romanticism the criticism of the rhetorical theory of rhetoric was accompanied by an anti-normative attitude. The aesthetic standards accepted by the Romanticists were the explanation for this somehow dual rebellion. The essay is an attempt to recreate the Romantic conceptions of style and the science of style. Research shows that the nineteenth century did not mean a complete rejection of rhetoric, but only a reduction in the theoretical issues. The didactic methods of grammar school and university seem to confirm the situation.Zadanie pt.
