Recent research point out the constructive phenomenon of riverine shellmounds in the middle Valley of Ribeira do Iguape, southern São Paulo State, more precisely, Itaoca, Jacupiranguinha river basin and Juquiá basin, during, at least, the period of 9,000 years. The present article aims at defining a riverine sambaqui (shellmound), Moraes site (6,000 – 4,000 years B.P.), in Miracatu city, São Paulo, with the objective of creating an inter-site comprehension of formative processes involved for the elevation of this mound structure. Prediction of unstable anticoagulation with acenocoumarol versus warfarin in atrial fibrillation

Background: The SAMe-TT2R2 (sex female, age, medical history, treatment, tobacco use, race) score was developed in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) on warfarin. The present study aimed to 1) compare the anticoagulation quality and management of AF patients treated with warfarin with those on acenocoumarol and 2) optimize the SAMe-TT2R2 score to detect AF patients at high risk of unstable anticoagulation with acenocoumarol and warfarin. Methods: In a single-center retrospective study, 320 patients with AF, including 15 (5%) after valve replacement, aged 40–82 (median 70) years, including 203 (63%) receiving acenocoumarol and 117 (37%) treated with warfarin, were studied. The SAMe-TT2R2 score was modified based on the candidate factors retrieved from univariate regression and assessed using the receiver operating curves (ROC). Results: A median SAMe-TT2R2 score was 2 (1–3). Proportions of patients with ≥ 2 points and 0–1 points in the SAMe-TT2R2 score who had the time in therapeutic range (TTR) ≤ 70% were similar (61 [67%] vs. 63 [56%], p = 0.11). A modified score, involving medical history (myocardial infarction [MI] and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], 1 point), statin treatment (1 point) and tobacco use (2 points) had a higher area under the curve (AUC) in patients on acenocoumarol compared to SAMe- TT2R2 (0.66; 95% confidence interval 0.58–0.73 vs. 0.56; 0.48–0.64, p = 0.042); ≥ 1 point indicated TTR > 70% with a sensitivity and specificity of 61% and 63%, respectively. Conclusions: The SAMe-TT2R2 score is less effective in predicting unstable anticoagulation with acenocoumarol versus warfarin. Adding statin use and highlighting COPD and previous MI increases a predictive value of this score for acenocoumarol.

O passado da periferia no presente da metrópole

In the dossiê, contributions from different areas of knowledge supports the discussion about heritage, history of territorial occupation, and different social groups in Guarulhos. Therefore, this paper articulates data presented in the report enabling a reading of Guarulhos’s heritage and history from the colonization period to the present day and showing how the areas’ geography and history preserve the meaning of preterit histories. The main goal is to show that recovery and heritage protection depends on a wide repertoire of knowledge that allows us to make choices based on the history of the past.Ao longo do dossiê, contribuições de diferentes áreas do conhecimento forneceram subsídios para a discussão do patrimônio, história da ocupação territorial e dos diferentes segmentos sociais que ocuparam Guarulhos. Assim sendo, este artigo articula alguns dos dados apresentados ao longo da obra, permitindo uma leitura do patrimônio e sua história desde o período da colonização até os dias atuais, mostrando como a geografia e as histórias dos lugares guardam significados de histórias pretéritas. Objetos, paisagens e patrimônio: introdução

This heritage inventory project of Guarulhos, while providing multiple and deep discussions, it's just the initial trigger of a long term project that instigates and allows the development of several especific projects on archeology, history, culture, heritage and memory by various researchers of public and private organizations. The protection and conservation of cultural heritage, as discussed in some papers in this volume, relies mainly on the practices that society itself generates around of its assets as well on the relationship that distinctives social segments built with the cultural patrimony.Este projeto de inventário do patrimônio de Guarulhos, embora traga uma longa pesquisa e múltiplas e profundas discussões, é apenas o gatilho inicial de um projeto que não se acaba em si, mas que instiga e permite o desenvolvimento de diversos projetos sobre arqueologia, história, cultura, patrimônio e memória por diferentes agentes da sociedade civil e entidades pública e privada. Quanto à proteção e conservação do patrimônio cultural, como discutido no artigo primeiro e nono, esta depende, sobretudo, das práticas que a própria sociedade gera em torno de seu patrimônio e da relação da sociedade em seus distintos segmentos sociais
