    Potensi Krim Ekstrak Daun Johar (Cassia Siame) Menghambat Pertumbuhan Candida Albicans

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi krim ekstrak daun johar untuk menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ekperimental. Daun johar (Cassia siamea Lamk.) diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi mengunakan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian diformulasi dalam bentuk sediaan krim dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 5%b/b dan 10%b/b. Sediaan krim tersebut kemudian diuji kemampuan daya hambatnya terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans dengan metode sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan krim ekstrak daun johar (Cassia siamea Lamk.) konsentrasi 10%b/b memiliki diameter zona hambat terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans sebesar 22,5 mm. Daya hambat dari krim ekstrak daun johar konsentrasi 10%b/b termasuk kategori sangat kuat

    Hotel Theming in China: A Qualitative Study of Practitioners’ Views

    Facing increasing competition, many hotels have adopted “theming” as a marketing strategy. Although still in its fledgling stage, hotel theming has already gained popularity in the growing Chinese hotel market. This study conducted focus group discussions to understand the concepts behind hotel theming in China. Respondents were 41 practitioners from the Chinese hotel industry, who were enrolled in an executive graduate program. Data revealed that hotel theming has four analytical dimensions, namely, the current state, perceived facilitators, inhibitors, and future prospective for developing such strategy in China. Results showed that the specific traits of the Chinese hotel market are highly important for the success of hotel theming in the given context

    Understanding value creation and word-of-mouth behaviour at cultural events

    Cultural value is a highly contested concept, despite its undoubted importance to practitioners and policy makers. Reseach into cultural value has, meanwhile, tended to employ a unidimensional value framework. This has hamprered the understanding of behaviour related to the word-of-mouth (WOM) communication behaviour of cultural values. This paper presents a cultural value segmentation based on a multidimensional value framework, allowing a profile of WOM behaviour (both online and offline) of each segment to be developed. The segmentation has four distinct segments of cultural consumer, each with different combinations of cultural values and WOM communication preferences. In this way, the study challenges current understandings of value creation and transfer in cultural settings. By way of practical recommendations, the study favours the use of market segmentation based on multi-dimensional value ‘constellations’, which can not only achieve better audience development but also to encourage wider WOM communication of the values in question

    The attitudes and experiences of families with death determination in the home

    The purpose of this study is to describe the attitudes and experiences of family members with respect to death determination practices for the terminally iii clients of home care agencies. A sample of family 53 members in Southeast Michigan returned survey questionnaires. The findings indicate that police and emergency medical technicians most frequently respond to the call when a person with a terminal illness has died. Fifty percent of the family members reported feeling sad, 35 percent reported feeling relieved and 18 percent of the respondents felt angry about the arrival of multiple personnel. Feelings of anger were signficantly associated with the absence of a nurse at the time of death, the use of lights and sirens, disrespectful personnel and the arrival of multiple personnel. Feelings of anger were also significantly associated with continuing thoughts of the day of death by family members. Results suggest the need to rethink state and local laws in regard to death determination and to educate those most likely to respond to families sensitively.     Spatial field correlation, the building block of mesoscopic fluctuations

    The absence of self averaging in mesoscopic systems is a consequence of long-range intensity correlation. Microwave measurements suggest and diagrammatic calculations confirm that the correlation function of the normalized intensity with displacement of the source and detector, ΔR\Delta R and Δr\Delta r, respectively, can be expressed as the sum of three terms, with distinctive spatial dependences. Each term involves only the sum or the product of the square of the field correlation function, FFE2F \equiv F_{E}^2. The leading-order term is the product, the next term is proportional to the sum.     Backprojection for Training Feedforward Neural Networks in the Input and Feature Spaces

    After the tremendous development of neural networks trained by backpropagation, it is a good time to develop other algorithms for training neural networks to gain more insights into networks. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for training feedforward neural networks which is fairly faster than backpropagation. This method is based on projection and reconstruction where, at every layer, the projected data and reconstructed labels are forced to be similar and the weights are tuned accordingly layer by layer. The proposed algorithm can be used for both input and feature spaces, named as backprojection and kernel backprojection, respectively. This algorithm gives an insight to networks with a projection-based perspective.     Principal Component Analysis Using Structural Similarity Index for Images

    Despite the advances of deep learning in specific tasks using images, the principled assessment of image fidelity and similarity is still a critical ability to develop. As it has been shown that Mean Squared Error (MSE) is insufficient for this task, other measures have been developed with one of the most effective being Structural Similarity Index (SSIM). Such measures can be used for subspace learning but existing methods in machine learning, such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), are based on Euclidean distance or MSE and thus cannot properly capture the structural features of images. In this paper, we define an image structure subspace which discriminates different types of image distortions. We propose Image Structural Component Analysis (ISCA) and also kernel ISCA by using SSIM, rather than Euclidean distance, in the formulation of PCA.     The un-predictive brain under threat: a neuro-computational account of anxious hypervigilance

    Anxious hypervigilance is marked by sensitized sensory-perceptual processes and attentional biases to potential danger cues in the environment. How this is realized at the neurocomputational level is unknown but could clarify the brain mechanisms disrupted in psychiatric conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder. Predictive coding, instantiated by dynamic causal models, provides a promising framework to ground these state-related changes in the dynamic interactions of reciprocally connected brain areas.Anxiety states were elicited in healthy participants (n\ua0= 19) by exposure to the threat of unpredictable, aversive shocks while undergoing magnetoencephalography. An auditory oddball sequence was presented to measure cortical responses related to deviance detection, and dynamic causal models quantified deviance-related changes in effective connectivity. Participants were also administered alprazolam (double-blinded, placebo-controlled crossover) to determine whether the cortical effects of threat-induced anxiety are reversed by acute anxiolytic treatment.Deviant tones elicited increased auditory cortical responses under threat. Bayesian analyses revealed that hypervigilant responding was best explained by increased postsynaptic gain in primary auditory cortex activity as well as modulation of feedforward, but not feedback, coupling within a temporofrontal cortical network. Increasing inhibitory gamma-aminobutyric acidergic action with alprazolam reduced anxiety and restored feedback modulation within the network.Threat-induced anxiety produced unbalanced feedforward signaling in response to deviations in predicable sensory input. Amplifying ascending sensory prediction error signals may optimize stimulus detection in the face of impending threats. At the same time, diminished descending sensory prediction signals impede perceptual learning and may, therefore, underpin some of the deleterious effects of anxiety on higher-order cognition
