Chapter Strategie per la rappresentazione dei segni e degli iconemi del paesaggio irriguo pavese
The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of âDialoguesâ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with âothersâ, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, âdialogueâ as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title âtranslatedâ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences
Metodologie di rilievo integrato per indagini diagnostiche non invasive: la documentazione della moschea bianca di Al-Jazzar a San Giovanni dâAcri, Israele
The White Mosque of Al-Jazzar is the biggest complex in Israel outside the city of Jerusalem. In the center of the fleeting state of coexistence between the Muslim community and the Jewish community, the complex, part of the UNESCO protection area, is currently involved in a redevelopment project promoted by the Welfare Association and carried forward, in 2017, Experimental Laboratory of Education and Research DAda Lab (Drawing Architecture and Document-Action) of Pavia University and the University and Enterprise Joint Laboratory "Landscape Survey & Design" of the University of Florence and Pavia. The research activities has provided a digital survey of the complex and a diagnostic survey based on the relevant data and aimed at identifying any structural problems. The aim of the research is to create a databases useful for the diagnosis of the walls structural instabilities and to propose a masterplan of hypothesis for the restoration activities aimed also to the promotion of the architectural complex in the Cultural Heritage of the city of Acri
Getting old through the blood. Circulating molecules in aging and senescence of cardiovascular regenerative cells
Global aging is a hallmark of our century. The natural multifactorial process resulting in aging involves structural and functional changes, affecting molecules, cells, and tissues. As the western population is getting older, we are witnessing an increase in the burden of cardiovascular events, some of which are known to be directly linked to cellular senescence and dysfunction. In this review, we will focus on the description of a few circulating molecules, which have been correlated to life span, aging, and cardiovascular homeostasis. We will review the current literature concerning the circulating levels and related signaling pathways of selected proteins (insulin-like growth factor 1, growth and differentiation factor-11, and PAI-1) and microRNAs of interest (miR-34a, miR-146a, miR-21), whose bloodstream levels have been associated to aging in different organisms. In particular, we will also discuss their potential role in the biology and senescence of cardiovascular regenerative cell types, such as endothelial progenitor cells, mesenchymal stromal cells, and cardiac progenitor cells
Sistemi di documentazione per lâanalisi ed il progetto di recupero del forte San Lorenzo el Real del Chagre, ColĂłn, Panama
The paper is a summary of some studies that have focused on the documentation for the restoration and enhancement of the Fort San Lorenzo el Real del Chagres in Panama. The aim of the project is to develop an experimental methodology for the creation of descriptive atlases with an informative and reliable metric survey systems; a documentary corpus necessary for the understanding of the historical events which have affected this place, today declared UNESCO heritage, and for the definition of guidelines for restoration and enhancement. The monument is unique for both the special relationship with the surrounding context for defensive strategies terms, and for the deep connection with the events that have affected not only the colonization and development of Panama, but the entire Central America. From the first project of a "Castillo" to the creation of present's fortified fortress overlooking the outfall of the Chagres River, the paper is going to explain the major historical events that have influenced the image of the building, illustrating the documentation and the recovery project
DATABASES AND COMPLEXITY. REMOTE USE OF THE DATA IN THE VIRTUAL SPACE OF RELIABLE 3D MODELS
With the advent of digital technology, communication has undergone radical transformation processes. The large amount of information that surrounds us with sociological, cultural and economic aspects, have changed the relationship between the perceiver and the context. The perceiver takes part of space, surrounding it, finding new ways to understand it and new ar-chive systems of the information he may acquire.
Through digital survey and the use of skilled software, the elements and the relationships of the contemporaneity become networked and accessible to the public. The database in which all the data acquired is collected, permits an extraction of useful information for the orientation in space. This possibility allows the under-standing of the relationship between elements and an ever-growing conscious approach to the project. Through digitization, the virtual environment can be preserved. This paper describes an innovative methodology that links the complexity of the databases (for the management of ur-ban and architectural systems) with representation systems and three-dimensional space archives.
Some experimental researches conducted explain ways in which one can create virtual databases. These instruments can become narrative path systems where the user can find and interface with the elements of space, in a more conscious, critical and structured approach
The complex of San Lorenzo del Chagres in Panama: historical development and survey project for the documentation of the Caribbean fortress
[EN] The aim of this research project was the documentation of the San Lorenzo del Chagres fort using
integrated survey instruments: thanks to a total station and a camera has been possible to take pictures
aiming at virtually modelling the whole building and its architectural elements present in the site. The
methodology of structure from motion allows to obtain a reliable geometric model of each part, starting
from a sequence of pictures, in witch is integrated the quality of materic aspect given from the texture.
Therefore, San Lorenzo del Chagres fort is a case study for new frontier of the representation: starting
from a 3D model, acquired through a fast survey, it is possible to obtain each information about the state
of preservation of the building with a digital database of the walls, according to the policy of
conservation, monitoring and enhancement of that UNESCO cultural heritage.Parrinello, S.; Picchio, F. (2015).
