This article analyzes the uses and the diffusion of the writing between the notarial group during the last medieval centuries. The study is based on the notarial documentation and its analysis, which referring data to the morphology of the gothic writing are come off. This is called described as notular to also be in favor into the hands of the notaries and of their peculiar character of writing used for the extension of notes in the notarial registries. In addition it presents/displays all the own characteristics of the catalan, own gothic writing of these last medieval centuries

L'arxiu patrimonial Fontcuberta (segles X-XXI)

Aquest article analitza la importància dels arxius patrimonials catalans, fixant l'atenció en un d'ells: l'arxiu Fontcuberta. Se n'estudien les característiques principals, la seva organització i la seva utilitat per a la recerca històrica. La documentació del mateix arxiu és la que proporciona informació per a conèixer-lo amb profunditat. Aquest arxiu, a més, és un complement per a altres arxius patrimonials, en posar de manifest la importància que té l'estudi exhaustiu de la documentació conservada en aquests arxius.This article analyses the importance of Catalan heritage archives, looking in more detail at one of them: the Fontcuberta Archive. We study its main characteristics, how it's organised and its relevance for historical research. The documents contained within this collection offer information that reveals more details about the archive itself. This archive also complements other heritagearchives, highlighting the importance of an exhaustive study of the documents kept in such archives

El notariado en el Mediterráneo Occidental medieval: a propósito de un proyecto de investigación

En este artículo se presenta un proyecto de investigación que estudia la figura del notario medieval y la actividad que desarrolla en las sociedades del Mediterráneo Occidental. Para justificar el desarrollo de este proyecto, el artículo se inicia con un estado de la cuestión sobre la historiografía entorno a la institución notarial. De esta forma los resultados de la investigación se situan de lleno en una de las tendencias de la Diplomática actual: la historia de la institución notarial. El texto muestra los principales puntos de atención del proyecto, centrado en el ámbito urbano de la Corona de Aragón, en un marco cronológico amplio cronológico amplio con el fin de analizar la evolución de esta institución desde sus inicios en el siglo XIII hasta su definitiva implantación en el siglo XV. En este marco se establecen relaciones entre el notariado de estos territorios con otros que se inscriben en el área de influencia del derecho romano, acotándolo en el Mediterráneo Occidental (Península Ibérica, Itálica e islas de Cerdeña, Baleares y Sicilia). El estudio de la institución notarial se plantea desde cuatro grandes áreas: escritura, instituciones, sociedad y economía, con el fin de obtenir una visión completa. Por ello es necesario estudiar la grafía de los notarios y las prácticas de escritura, incluyendo la circulación de documentos notariales y literatura notarial y su conservación. Para ello es preciso indagar la actividad notarial en algunas notarías públicas del ámbito urbano, estudios que se abordarán con el análisis de una selección de registros notariales. En lo que respecta a las instituciones se quiere abordar el estudio de la actividad notarial en algunos organismos del momento, cómo es la praxis notarial en estas oficinas y qué documentos se generan. Finalmente se acomete el estudio de la imbricación del notario en la sociedad y en la vida económica medieval, su papel de intermediario, árbitro, garante de la fe pública y, en ocasiones, constructor de la memoria y la identidad de las ciudades.This article presents a research project that studies the figure of the medieval notary and his activity in Western Mediterranean societies. In order to justify the development of this project, the article begins with a state of the the historiography concerning the notarial institution. In this way, the results of the research are included in the context of one of the tendencies of contemporary diplomacy: the history of the notarial institution. The text focuses on the main points of a"ention of the project, which is centred on the urban environment of the Crown of Aragon, within a broad chronological framework in order to analyse the evolution of this institution from its beginnings in the 13th century to its definitive establishment in the 15th century. In this framework, relations are established between the notary in these territories and others that are part of the area of influence of Roman law, delimiting it in the Western Mediterranean (Iberian Peninsula, Italica and the islands of Sardinia, the Balearic Islands and Sicily). The study of the notarial institution is approached from four main areas: writing, institutions, society and economy, in order to obtain a complete vision. It is therefore necessary to study the notaries’ handwriting and writing practices, including the circulation of notarial documents and notarial literature and their conservation. For this purpose, it is necess- ary to investigate notarial activity in a selection of public notaries’ offices in urban areas, and this will be done by analysing a selection of notarial registers. As far as institutions are concerned, the aim is to study notarial activity in a number of current organisations, what notarial practice is like in these offices and what documents are generated. Finally, a study is undertaken of the notary’s involvement in medieval society and economic life, his role as intermediary, as arbiter, as guarantor of public faith and, on occasions, as builder of the memory and identity of cities.ES
