TESTING THE WEAK FORM EFFICIENCY OF VIETNAMESE STOCK MARKET DURING 2010 - 2016

    Get PDF
After the financial crisis considerably affected the economy of developed countries, investors started to pay attention towards fast developing emerging markets. The study focuses on examining the presence of the weak-form efficiency for the Vietnamese stock market from 2010 to 2016. Using the relationship between the Efficient Market Hypothesis and the Random Walk Theory, three approaches are applied for the test of the independence of daily stock returns of Vietnamese stock index (VNI) and 10 representative stocks listed in Ho Chi Minh stock exchange (HOSE), namely: autocorrelation tests, runs tests and variance ratio tests. Collected data includes above stock returns from January 2010 to September 2016 and is divided into two cycles (January 2010 – January 2014 and January 2014 – September 2016). Although autocorrelation tests and runs tests show efficient sign of some stock returns in the second subsample, variance ratio tests reject the null hypothesis of random walk theory and market efficiency. As a result, the weak form efficiency of EMH does not hold for the Vietnamese stock market in the period of over more than 5 years 2010 – 2016.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format

A combined analytical and experimental approach for prediction of properties of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) parts

    Get PDF
Includes vita.Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a technique used to build rapid prototypes out of thermoplastic materials. Printing technology continues to mature from a rapid prototyping process to a rapid manufacturing technique, therefore predicting printed part behavior has become increasingly desirable. This study aims to determine the relation between the process parameters and associated temperature history and the strength of printed parts. A combined analytical and experimental approach was used for studying and prediction properties of printed parts. The results indicate that process parameters and temperature history have a significant impact on the behavior of printed parts. Further research is needed to identify other factors that could improve the effectiveness of printed part behavior.Includes bibliographical references (pages 59-65

Distribution of Quinolones, Sulfonamides, Tetracyclines in Aquatic Environment and Antibiotic Resistance in Indochina

    Get PDF
Southeast Asia has become the center of rapid industrial development and economic growth. However, this growth has far outpaced investment in public infrastructure, leading to the unregulated release of many pollutants, including wastewater-related contaminants such as antibiotics. Antibiotics are of major concern because they can easily be released into the environment from numerous sources, and can subsequently induce development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Recent studies have shown that for some categories of drugs this source-to-environment antibiotic resistance relationship is more complex. This review summarizes current understanding regarding the presence of quinolones, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines in aquatic environments of Indochina and the prevalence of bacteria resistant to them. Several noteworthy findings are discussed: (1) quinolone contamination and the occurrence of quinolone resistance are not correlated; (2) occurrence of the sul sulfonamide resistance gene varies geographically; and (3) microbial diversity might be related to the rate of oxytetracycline resistance

Digital Transformation of the Banking Industry in Developing Countries

    Get PDF
Purpose:  The study's objective is to test the impact of digital transactions on banking performance. Based on the previous research and the actual situations, it has been recognized that the critical role of digital banking is in developing the banking industry, especially in developing countries.   Theoretical framework:  In the next section, the study presents background information to promote the research. The digital transformation has changed how customers use financial services. This has pushed banks to adapt more quickly to the wave of digital transformation if they don't want to lose their valuable customer base.   Design/methodology/approach:  the methodology applied uses POOL, FEM, REM, and FGLS models to examine the impact of banking transactions made by digital technology on the bank's deposit and lending revenue. This article studies banking operations on digital platforms from 2012 to 2019 in developing countries.   Findings: The article's findings showed that digital banks' flexible products and services bring many benefits with a high level of interaction, such as supporting the relationship between customers and banks and improving operating revenue.   Research, Practical & Social implications: Practical implications enhanced the development potential of digital banking is relatively large, stemming from the market demand development orientation of the banking industry.   Originality/value: The paper's originality and value help banks invest in digital technology as the way forward to better serve their customers

The Current Status of Secondary School Teacher’s Perception of Happiness in Nam Dinh Province during the Implementation Period of the 2018 General Education Program

In the current context of a major revolution in the Vietnamese education system, teachers’ perception of happiness makes an important criterion in evaluating effectiveness of the changes made to educational programs. The initial investigation of the positive effects of this renovation was conducted on the scale of Nam Dinh province and the results show multidimensional sources of information. In addition to positive information, there is still information that raises many questions for leaders to pay attention to. The outcome of the investigation suggests the evaluation of “The job is meaningful” is 3.10 out of 5 points, which is the lowest in assessment criteria. Meanwhile, the rates for “Completely disbelieve” and “Slightly disbelieve” in happiness of their profession in the future take up a large proportion (24.4%). However, other criteria namely “Being satisfied with current position” and “Feeling motivated with the job” received higher evaluation scores, respectively 4.05/5 points and 4.11/5 points. Via the results of the research, the author is looking forward to appropriate actions taken by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam with a view to enhancing the perception of happiness among teachers

Physical Model Test for Soft Soil With or Without Prefabricated Vertical Drain with Loading

The paper builds a physical model of testing in the laboratory with the parametric tempered glass box 0.5  0.5 1.2 m (length  width  depth) containing saturated clay to study the settlement and consolidation when loading increased gradually over time. The research covers herein to present the monitoring of settlement and pore water pressure, settlement calculation, numerical simulation using PLAXIS software V8.2 based on the results of soil physical and mechanical tests before and after loading in case of having or not prefabricated vertical drain (PVD). In case of no PVD, the calculation and numerical simulation using the soil parameters before loading have the differential settlement from the monitoring data, approximately 3.86 mm (10.45%), 0.41 mm (1.11%) respectively. Meanwhile, the deviation in the case using data after loading is about 2.29 mm (6.20%), 0.21 mm (0.56%) respectively. In case of PVD, the calculation and numerical simulation with the testing result of before loading deviation from the settlement monitoring by subsidence meter is 2.91 mm (7.88%), 44.42 mm (120.28%), calculation and simulation with the testing result of after loading deviation is 0.80 mm (2.17%), 1.26 mm (3.41%). In the case of having PVD, the difference in calculation, subsidence observation, and numerical simulation between the mechanical properties before and after loading is significant, when using the mechanical data after loading then the results are quite close to the subsidence of observation and simulation rather than before loading.

International audienceIn this paper, we present a system that automatically extracts lexicalized tree adjoining grammars (LTAG) fromtreebanks. We first discuss in detail extraction algorithms and compare themto previous works. We then report the first LTAG extraction result for Vietnamese, using a recently released Vietnamese treebank. The implementation of an open source and language independent system for automatic extraction of LTAG grammars is also discussed
