Vanishing Minors in the Neutrino Mass Matrix from Abelian Gauge Symmetries
Augmenting the Standard Model by three right-handed neutrinos allows for an
anomaly-free gauge group extension G_max = U(1)_(B-L) x U(1)_(L_e-L_mu) x
U(1)_(L_mu-L_tau). While simple U(1) subgroups of G_max have already been
discussed in the context of approximate flavor symmetries, we show how two-zero
textures in the right-handed neutrino Majorana mass matrix can be enforced by
the flavor symmetry, which is spontaneously broken very economically by singlet
scalars. These zeros lead to two vanishing minors in the low-energy neutrino
mass matrix after the seesaw mechanism. This study may provide a new testing
ground for a zero-texture approach: the different classes of two-zero textures
with almost identical neutrino oscillation phenomenology can in principle be
distinguished by their different Z' interactions at colliders.Comment: 12 pages; Extended and clarified discussion; comments on finetuning

New Solution for Neutrino Masses and Leptogenesis in Adjoint SU(5)
We investigate baryogenesis via leptogenesis and generation of neutrino
masses and mixings through the Type I plus Type III seesaw plus an one-loop
mechanism in the context of Renormalizable Adjoint SU(5) theory. One light
neutrino remains massless, because the contributions of three heavy Majorana
fermions \rho_0, \rho_3 and \rho_8 to the neutrino mass matrix are not linearly
independent. However none of these heavy fermions is decoupled from the
generation of neutrino masses. This opens a new range in parameter space for
successful leptogenesis, in particular, allows for inverted hierarchy of the
neutrino masses.Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures; references added and typos fixe
Two loop electroweak corrections to and in the B-LSSM
The rare decays and are important to research new physics beyond standard model. In
this work, we investigate two loop electroweak corrections to and in the minimal
supersymmetric extension of the SM with local gauge symmetry (B-LSSM),
under a minimal flavor violating assumption for the soft breaking terms. In
this framework, new particles and new definition of squarks can affect the
theoretical predictions of these two processes, with respect to the MSSM.
Considering the constraints from updated experimental data, the numerical
results show that the B-LSSM can fit the experimental data for the branching
ratios of and . The
results of the rare decays also further constrain the parameter space of the
B-LSSM.Comment: 33 pages, 9 figures, Published in EPJ
LHC diphoton Higgs signal and top quark forward-backward asymmetry in quasi-inert Higgs doublet model
In the quasi-inert Higgs doublet model, we study the LHC diphoton rate for a
standard model-like Higgs boson and the top quark forward-backward asymmetry at
Tevatron. Taking into account the constraints from the vacuum stability,
unitarity, electroweak precision tests, flavor physics and the related
experimental data of top quark, we find that compared with the standard model
prediction, the diphoton rate of Higgs boson at LHC can be enhanced due to the
light charged Higgs contributions, while the measurement of the top quark
forward-backward asymmetry at Tevatron can be explained to within due
to the non-standard model neutral Higgs bosons contributions. Finally, the
correlations between the two observables are discussed.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figues. Version to appear in JHEP, some references adde
Top quark forward-backward asymmetry in R-parity violating supersymmetry
The interaction of bottom squark-mediated top quark pair production,
occurring in the R-parity violating minimal supersymmetric standard model
(MSSM), is proposed as an explanation of the anomalously large
forward-backward asymmetry (FBA) observed at the Tevatron. We find that this
model can give a good fit to top quark data, both the inclusive and invariant
mass-dependent asymmetries, while remaining consistent (at the 2-
level) with the total and differential production cross-sections. The scenario
is challenged by strong constraints from atomic parity violation (APV), but we
point out an extra diagram for the effective down quark-Z vertex, involving the
same coupling constant as required for the FBA, which tends to weaken the APV
constraint, and which can nullify it for reasonable values of the top squark
masses and mixing angle. Large contributions to flavor-changing neutral
currents can be avoided if only the third generation of sparticles is light.Comment: 24 pages, 7 figures. v3: included LHC top production cross section

Dark matter scenarios in the minimal SUSY B-L model
We perform a study of the dark matter candidates of a constrained version of
the minimal R-parity-conserving supersymmetric model with a gauged
. It turns out that there are four additional candidates for dark
matter in comparison to the MSSM: two kinds of neutralino, which either
correspond to the gaugino of the or to a fermionic bilepton, as
well as "right-handed" CP-even and -odd sneutrinos. The correct dark matter
relic density of the neutralinos can be obtained due to different mechanisms
including new co-annihilation regions and resonances. The large additional
Yukawa couplings required to break the radiatively often lead to
large annihilation cross sections for the sneutrinos. The correct treatment of
gauge kinetic mixing is crucial to the success of some scenarios. All
candidates are consistent with the exclusion limits of Xenon100.Comment: 45 pages, 22 figures; v2: extended discussion of direct detection

Neutrino masses: From fantasy to facts
Theory suggests the existence of neutrino masses, but little more. Facts are
coming close to reveal our fantasy: solar and atmospheric neutrino data
strongly indicate the need for neutrino conversions, while LSND provides an
intriguing hint. The simplest ways to reconcile these data in terms of neutrino
oscillations invoke a light sterile neutrino in addition to the three active
ones. Out of the four neutrinos, two are maximally-mixed and lie at the LSND
scale, while the others are at the solar mass scale. These schemes can be
distinguished at neutral-current-sensitive solar & atmospheric neutrino
experiments. I discuss the simplest theoretical scenarios, where the lightness
of the sterile neutrino, the nearly maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing, and
the generation of & all follow
naturally from the assumed lepton-number symmetry and its breaking. Although
the most likely interpretation of the present data is in terms of
neutrino-mass-induced oscillations, one still has room for alternative
explanations, such as flavour changing neutrino interactions, with no need for
neutrino mass or mixing. Such flavour violating transitions arise in theories
with strictly massless neutrinos, and may lead to other sizeable flavour
non-conservation effects, such as , conversion in
nuclei, unaccompanied by neutrino-less double beta decay.Comment: 33 pages, latex, 16 figures. Invited Talk at Ioannina Conference,

Beyond the standard seesaw: neutrino masses from Kahler operators and broken supersymmetry
We investigate supersymmetric scenarios in which neutrino masses are
generated by effective d=6 operators in the Kahler potential, rather than by
the standard d=5 superpotential operator. First, we discuss some general
features of such effective operators, also including SUSY-breaking insertions,
and compute the relevant renormalization group equations. Contributions to
neutrino masses arise at low energy both at the tree level and through finite
threshold corrections. In the second part we present simple explicit
realizations in which those Kahler operators arise by integrating out heavy
SU(2)_W triplets, as in the type II seesaw. Distinct scenarios emerge,
depending on the mechanism and the scale of SUSY-breaking mediation. In
particular, we propose an appealing and economical picture in which the heavy
seesaw mediators are also messengers of SUSY breaking. In this case, strong
correlations exist among neutrino parameters, sparticle and Higgs masses, as
well as lepton flavour violating processes. Hence, this scenario can be tested
at high-energy colliders, such as the LHC, and at lower energy experiments that
measure neutrino parameters or search for rare lepton decays.Comment: LaTeX, 34 pages; some corrections in Section
Decoupling property of the supersymmetric Higgs sector with four doublets
In supersymmetric standard models with multi Higgs doublet fields,
selfcoupling constants in the Higgs potential come only from the D-terms at the
tree level. We investigate the decoupling property of additional two heavier
Higgs doublet fields in the supersymmetric standard model with four Higgs
doublets. In particular, we study how they can modify the predictions on the
quantities well predicted in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM),
when the extra doublet fields are rather heavy to be measured at collider
experiments. The B-term mixing between these extra heavy Higgs bosons and the
relatively light MSSM-like Higgs bosons can significantly change the
predictions in the MSSM such as on the masses of MSSM-like Higgs bosons as well
as the mixing angle for the two light CP-even scalar states. We first give
formulae for deviations in the observables of the MSSM in the decoupling region
for the extra two doublet fields. We then examine possible deviations in the
Higgs sector numerically, and discuss their phenomenological implications.Comment: 26 pages, 24 figures, text sligtly modified, version to appear in

Two-zero Textures of the Majorana Neutrino Mass Matrix and Current Experimental Tests
In view of the latest T2K and MINOS neutrino oscillation data which hint at a
relatively large theta_13, we perform a systematic study of the Majorana
neutrino mass matrix M_nu with two independent texture zeros. We show that
three neutrino masses (m_1, m_2, m_3) and three CP-violating phases (delta,
rho, sigma) can fully be determined from two neutrino mass-squared differences
(delta m^2, Delta m^2) and three flavor mixing angles (theta_12, theta_23,
theta_13). We find that seven patterns of M_nu (i.e., A_{1,2}, B_{1,2,3,4} and
C) are compatible with current experimental data at the 3-sigma level, but the
parameter space of each pattern is more strictly constrained than before. We
demonstrate that the texture zeros of M_nu are stable against the one-loop
quantum corrections, and there exists a permutation symmetry between Patterns
A_1 and A_2, B_1 and B_2 or B_3 and B_4. Phenomenological implications of M_nu
on the neutrinoless double-beta decay and leptonic CP violation are discussed,
and a realization of those texture zeros by means of the Z_n flavor symmetries
is illustrated.Comment: 41 pages, including 4 tables and 14 figures, more discussions added,
