Convergence of Insurance Payout Stochastic Processes to Generalized Poisson Process

© 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York. We consider stochastic processes describing the size of a company’s insurance payouts in the case of a growing number of clients. Convergence of such processes in Skorokhod space is proved. As a result, a functional limit theorem for risk processes is obtained, which allows us to use well-known formulas for estimating an insurance company’s ruin probability in the considered case

Personality traits of teenagers, participating in youth non-governmental organisations

Based on diagnostic results, the article presents a comparative analysis of personality traits of seniour high school students, participating in youth nongovernmental organizations, and their peers, not participating in those. Obtained results are considered in the context of teenagers' self-actualization as part of of socially important activities.В статье представлен сравнительный анализ результатов диагностики личностных особенностей старшеклассников, участвующих в молодежных общественных объединениях, и их сверстников, не принимающих участия в них. Полученные результаты рассматриваются в контексте проблемы самореализации подростков в рамках социально значимой деятельности

Perfectionism as a Predictor of Anxiety in Foreign Language Classrooms among Russian College Students

This study examined perfectionism as a multidimensional personality factor which influences foreign language learning and classroom anxiety. Hierarchical regression analyses confirmed that the two dimensions of perfectionism, adaptive and maladaptive, relate to Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety (FLCA) differently. After controlling for the effects of general anxiety, perceptions of academic performance, and self-reported English fluency, perfectionistic discrepancy (maladaptive aspect) was a significant predictor of FLCA; perfectionistic standards (adaptive aspect) was not. Measures indicated that this multidimensional nature of perfectionism affects Russian students in the context of foreign language classroom anxiety. Implications regarding the prevention and intervention of maladaptive perfectionism among students are discussed, as well as directions for future studies. These findings are important for teachers, students, and experts who may interact with FLCA and perfectionism as well as those who may personally experience it. The possible strategies to reduce anxiety could include discussing unrealistic beliefs and expectations with reference to foreign language learning, accepting mistakes as an integral part of foreign language learning as well as coaching

Relation of life-resistance with self-assessment and coping strategiesat young people and girls of adolescent age

The article analyzes the results of a comparative study of the links of resilience with coping strategies and self-esteem in boys and girls aged 14-16. The sample consisted of 141 people (90 of them were girls, 51 were boys). As a diagnostic tool, the Muddy Test S. Muddy was used (in adaptation D. A. Leontyeva, E. I. Rasskazova); The questionnaire “Methods of coping behavior” (coping test) R. Lazarus and S. Folkman (in the adaptation of L. I. Wasserman); The method of diagnosis of self-assessment of the personality of Dembo - Rubinstein (modified by A. M. Prikhozhan). Hypothesis of the study was the assumption that there are specific features in the links of viability with self-esteem and coping strategies in boys and girls. Enrichment of CH3F nuclear spin isomers by resonant microwave radiation

Theoretical model of the coherent control of nuclear spin isomers by microwave radiation has been developed. Model accounts the M-degeneracy of molecular states and molecular center-of-mass motion. The model has been applied to the 13CH3F molecules. Microwave radiation excites the para state (J=11,K=1) which is mixed by the nuclear spin-spin interaction with the ortho state (9,3). Dependencies of the isomer enrichment and conversion rates on the radiation frequency have been calculated. Both spectra consist of two resonances situated at the centers of allowed and forbidden (by nuclear spin) transitions in the molecule. Larger enrichment, up to 7%, can be produced by strong radiation resonant to the forbidden transition. The spin conversion rate can be increased by 2 orders of magnitude at this resonance.Comment: REVTEX, 14 pages + 6 eps figure
