In this article we intend to present the history of Faust through the puppet theatre tradition and its influences on literary works concerning the heretic doctor. Based on a true character, the legend of Faust goes back to the time of Lutheran reform. Since Spies' "Volksbuch", Faust worked as a warning example to the newborn belief that found in the technique of Puppet Theatre the ideal way to spread its ideology. Later on, warning became entertainment and also fascination towards this character, which gained fame with his fusion to the amusing "Kasperltheater" tradition. Following the traces of this evolution we can surely understand some of the directions the legend took in literary works such as Goethes's "Faust" and Thomas Mann's "Doktor Faustus".Pretendemos, no seguinte artigo, apresentar a história de Fausto através da tradição do teatro de animação e suas influências sobre obras literárias relacionadas ao doutor herético. Baseada em uma personalidade real, a lenda de Fausto remonta à época da reforma luterana. Desde o "Volksbuch" de Spies, Fausto operou como um exemplo de advertência para a fé recém surgida, que encontrou na técnica do teatro de animação a maneira ideal de difundir sua ideologia. Mais tarde, a advertência tornou-se fascinação em relação a esta personagem, que ganhou fama em sua fusão com a divertida tradição do "Kasperltheater". Sigmund Freud's metapsychological vocabulary : from the German language to its translations

The following article aims to discuss the ground vocabulary of Freudian Metapsychology, beyond the conception of a simple and stiff collection of technique terms. Facing the fact that Freud was a brilliant writer and a keen explorer of the resources provided by the German language, we intend to demonstrate some distortions his vocabulary and style underwent after its passage through internationally influent translations into English and French. Therefore, since recently his work went into the public domain and finally it begins to be directly translated into Portuguese, it is a capital challenge to Freud´s translators in Brazil to recover the lifelike face of his words not disregarding the accuracy of his propositions.O presente artigo objetiva uma discussão sobre o vocabulário fundamental da Metapsicologia freudiana, para além da concepção de um simples e estanque agrupado de termos técnicos. Levando-se também em consideração o fato de que Freud foi um escritor brilhante e um perspicaz explorador dos recursos oferecidos pela língua alemã, é nossa intenção demonstrar certas distorções de seu estilo e vocabulário sofridas após ter passado por traduces internacionalmente influentes para as línguas inglesa e francesa. Multiple manipulators path planning using double A∗

Streamlining automated processes is currently undertaken by developing optimization methods and algorithms for robotic manipulators. This paper aims to present a new approach to improve streamlining of automatic processes. This new approach allows for multiple robotic manipulators commonly found in the industrial environment to handle different scenarios, thus providing a high-flexibility solution to automated processes. Design/methodology/approach - The developed system is based on a spatial discretization methodology capable of describing the surrounding environment of the robot, followed by a novel path-planning algorithm. Gazebo was the simulation engine chosen, and the robotic manipulator used was the Universal Robot 5 (UR5). The proposed system was tested using the premises of two robotic challenges: EuRoC and Amazon Picking Challenge. Findings - The developed system was able to identify and describe the influence of each joint in the Cartesian space, and it was possible to control multiple robotic manipulators safely regardless of any obstacles in a given scene. Practical implications - This new system was tested in both real and simulated environments, and data collected showed that this new system performed well in real-life scenarios, such as EuRoC and Amazon Picking Challenge. Core-shell nanocomposites prepared by hierarchical co-assembly: the role of the carbon shell in catalytic wet peroxide oxidation processes

The diffraction pattern of Fe3O4 (not shown) confirmed the presence of only one phase, corresponding to magnetite with a lattice parameter a = 8.357 Å and a crystallite size of 16.6 ± 0.2 nm. The diffraction pattern of MGNC (not shown) confirmed the presence of a graphitic phase, in addition to the metal phase, suggesting that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully encapsulated within a graphitic structure during the synthesis of MGNC. The core-shell structure of MGNC is unequivocally demonstrated in the TEM micrograph shown in Fig. 1b. Characterization of the MGNC textural and surface chemical properties revealed: (i) stability up to 400 oC under oxidizing atmosphere; (ii) 27.3 wt.% of ashes (corresponding to the mass fraction of Fe3O4); (iii) a micro-mesoporous structure with a fairly well developed specific surface area (SBET = 330 m2 g-1); and (iv) neutral character (pHPZC = 7.1). In addition, the magnetic nature of MGNC (Fig. 2) is an additional advantage for possible implementation of in situ magnetic separation systems for catalyst recovery

Field and Molecular Epidemiology: How Viral Sequencing Changed Transmission Inferences in the First Portuguese SARS-CoV-2 Infection Cluster

Field epidemiology and viral sequencing provide a comprehensive characterization of transmission chains and allow a better identification of superspreading events. However, very few examples have been presented to date during the COVID-19 pandemic. We studied the first COVID-19 cluster detected in Portugal (59 individuals involved amongst extended family and work environments), following the return of four related individuals from work trips to Italy. The first patient to introduce the virus would be misidentified following the traditional field inquiry alone, as shown by the viral sequencing in isolates from 23 individuals. The results also pointed out family, and not work environment, as the primary mode of transmission.This work was funded by Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT; Research4COVID19 projects 198_596862267, 617_613735895, 186_596855206). Characterization of stainless steel spent pickling sludge and prospects for its valorization

Fluorspar is considered a critical raw material for the European Union, due to its industrial uses and lack of sufficient extraction in European countries. It is a source for hydrofluoric acid manufacture, this latter chemical being employed, among other uses, in the pickling of stainless steels. From this latter activity, sludge is generated due to the need for used water treatment. In this article, we report a full characterization of this residue, obtained in an industrial plant in Vieira de Leiria, Portugal. Its chemical and mineralogical characteristics were determined, showing that it is mostly a mixture of calcium fluoride and calcium sulfate with some heavy metals content. Thermal behavior allowed us to determine that the material melts at around 950 ◦C. The influence of calcining operation on the residue was determined, especially concerned with the leachability of some elements. Taking into account the results of the characterization of this residue, some considerations are presented about the potential for the valorization of this industrial residue.Bollinghaus Steel, S

Facile one-pot synthesis of Pt nanoparticles/SBA-15: an active and stable material for catalytic applications
