    Phylogenomics and systematics in Pseudomonas

The genus Pseudomonas currently contains 144 species, making it the genus of Gram-negative bacteria that contains the largest number of species. Currently, multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) is the preferred method for establishing the phylogeny between species and genera. Four partial gene sequences of housekeeping genes (16S rRNA, gyrB, rpoB, and rpoD) were obtained from 112 complete or draft genomes of strains related to the genus Pseudomonas that were available in databases. These genes were analyzed together with the corresponding sequences of 133 Pseudomonas type strains of validly published species to assess their correct phylogenetic assignations. We confirmed that 30% of the sequenced genomes of non-type strains were not correctly assigned at the species level in the accepted taxonomy of the genus and that 20% of the strains were not identified at the species level. Most of these strains had been isolated and classified several years ago, and their taxonomic status has not been updated by modern techniques. MLSA was also compared with indices based on the analysis of whole-genome sequences that have been proposed for species delineation, such as tetranucleotide usage patterns (TETRA), average nucleotide identity (ANIm, based on MUMmer and ANIb, based on BLAST) and genome-to-genome distance (GGDC). TETRA was useful for discriminating Pseudomonas from other genera, whereas ANIb and GGDC clearly separated strains of different species. ANIb showed the strongest correlation with MLSA. The correct species classification is a prerequisite for most diversity and evolutionary studies. This work highlights the necessity for complete genomic sequences of type strains to build a phylogenomic taxonomy and that all new genome sequences submitted to databases should be correctly assigned to species to avoid taxonomic inconsistencies.Financial support was obtained from the Spanish MINECO through projects CGL2011-24318 and Consolider CSD2009-00006, as well as funds for competitive research groups from the Government of the Balearic Islands (the last two funds with FEDER cofunding).     La cultura de la responsabilidad social se está convirtiendo en un nuevo elemento de diferenciación competitiva entre las empresas del sector turístico –pilar básico de la economía española. La sociedad exige a las empresas ante todo responsabilidad y transparencia en el ejercicio de su actividad, de ahí que cada vez sean más las cadenas hoteleras que apuestan por incorporar en su gestión acciones en materia de Responsabilidad Social Corporativa (RSC). Son varias las vías que existen para su difusión pero es Internet la más valorada en la actualidad por las empresas para comunicar su compromiso social, ético y medioambiental, dadas las múltiples ventajas que ofrece. Este trabajo persigue conocer cómo emplean las compañías hoteleras españolas sus websites y sus cuentas en la red social Facebook para comunicar sus iniciativas de RSC. Los resultados obtenidos tras el análisis de las páginas web y el seguimiento de las entradas realizadas en Facebook muestran que Internet se ha convertido para la mayoría de las empresas en un espacio imprescindible a través del cual difundir información sobre el comportamiento responsable

    Dentro de este proyecto se realizaron acercamientos al contexto y organización que llevaron al diagnóstico y problema central a solucionar, el aprovechamiento de los espacios (sobre todo de las áreas verdes). Así, se propone una alternativa llamada: Mochilas Exploradoras (ME), esta consta de una actividad lúdica que lleva a las niñas y niños a explorar entre las plantas, árboles y animales del espacio. A partir de la realización de una prueba piloto, se analizó la efectividad del proyecto, esto mediante diferentes evaluaciones. Los resultados de estas mismas se presentan en el documento, de manera cuantitativa y cualitativa, para dar paso a las recomendaciones que se le brindaron a la organización en caso de la ejecución definitiva de las ME.ITESO, A.C

    Las conferencias sectoriales (2001-2012): Dinámica de funcionamiento y valores y percepciones de los agentes políticos y técnicos

    The territorial organization established in Spain since 1978 is located at an intermediate point between unitary and federal models. In this institutional framework, coordination of sectoral policies has been channeled through intergovernmental organizations such as the Sectorial Conferences, which aim to integrate the Autonomous Regions in the decision making processes of the State. Similarly, these conferences are channels to establish a horizontal coordination between Autonomous Regions in a context such as Spanish, where they have just had enough other development tools designed specifically for this purpose. In this article are presented the main findings of a research project funded by the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) in 2013. This project aims to analyze the functioning, dynamics and the results of work of the Sectorial Conferences, as well as their role as instruments of shared governance. To do this, there has been an empirical analysis that besides the formal study of these organisms, pay attention to elements such as the human factor, leadership, ideology or the nature of the issues.La organización territorial establecida en España desde 1978 se ubica en un punto intermedio entre los modelos unitarios y federales. En este marco institucional, la coordinación de las políticas sectoriales se ha canalizado a través de organismos intergubernamentales como las Conferencias Sectoriales, que pretenden integrar a las Comunidades Autónomas en los procesos de toma de decisión del Estado. De la misma manera, estas Conferencias son canales para establecer una coordinación horizontal entre las Comunidades Autónomas en un contexto como el español, donde apenas han tenido desarrollo suficiente otras herramientas diseñadas específicamente a este fin. En este artículo se presentan las principales conclusiones de un proyecto de investigación financiado por el Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública (INAP) en 2013 Este proyecto se orienta al análisis del funcionamiento, la dinámica y los resultados del trabajo de las Conferencias Sectoriales, así como a su papel como instrumentos de gobierno compartido. Para ello, se ha realizado un análisis empírico que, además del estudio formal de estos organismos, presta atención a elementos como el factor humano, el liderazgo, la ideología o la propia naturaleza de los temas tratados

    The bamboo, a tubular geometry plant, it is a promising replacement for traditional synthetic materials in the construction sector. In addition, it is renewable and environmentally sustainable. However, in order to promote its use, mechanical and chemical properties of bamboo must be known. This work analyses chemical and mechanical characteristics of three bamboo species not used in the construction sector, but widely used for other purposes: Dendrocalamus strictus (DS), Arundinaria amabilis (AA) and Phyllostachys aurea (PA). TAPPI standards have been used for the chemical analysis, while mechanical properties have been studied in compression and three-point flexion tests. The results have shown that the density of bamboo has a direct influence on mechanical properties, both in resistance and stiffness: for the analysed three bam-boo species, the higher density the higher resistance and stiffness.; Banbua, geometria tubularra duen landarea den aldetik, hautagai interesgarria da eraikuntzaren sektorerako material sintetiko tradizionalen ordezko gisa erabiltzeko.     From Genomics to Microevolution and Ecology: The Case of Salinibacter ruber

    Salinibacter ruber is an extremely halophilic bacterium inhabiting environments that are normally dominated by halophilic Archaea. This bacterium shows a high degree of genomic microdiversity illustrated by the fact that new strains with different genomic patterns (and identical ribosomal operons) are continuously isolated from the same ponds where the original strains were retrieved. Here, we investigate the meaning of this microdiversity by comparing the genomic sequences of closely related S. ruber strains with a main focus on the species pangenome and the putative role of phages and lateral gene transfer in the shaping of the microdiversity
