PFG NMR measurements of tortuosity factors for diffusion in meso- and macropores of FCC catalysts

    Get PDF
Pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR is applied to measure self-diffusion coefficients of 1,3,5 tri-isopropyl-benzene in the particles of several industrial FCC catalysts having different systems of meso- and macropores. Relating these diffusivities to the self-diffusion coefficient of 1,3,5 tri-isopropyl-benzene in the liquid phase, the tortuosity factors for diffusion in the meso- and macropores of the particles were obtained. The values of the tortuosity factors were found to increase with a increasing volumetric fraction of the small (< 20 nm) meso- and macropores in the total intraparticle volume

Analysis of Thermal Effects in Infrared and Interference Microscopy: n-Butane-5A and Methanol-Ferrierite Systems

Recently, infrared and interference microscopy methods have been increasingly applied to measure internal concentration gradients and hence the uptake of different adsorbates in zeolite crystals. In contrast to conventional macroscopic batch uptake techniques, these microscopic/mesoscopic methods measure changes associated with single zeolite crystals. The analysis of data from these measurements to determine micropore diffusivities has been performed on the basis of the assumption that isothermal conditions prevail during both the adsorption and desorption experiments. This assumption is critically examined in this paper for the case of methanol diffusion in ferrierite crystals during adsorption and desorption to vacuum. It is shown by both detailed simulation as well as an order of magnitude analysis of time constants for heat transfer and diffusion that the temperature changes in the system are negligible during adsorption due to the high conductive heat transfer rate. However, during desorption to a vacuum, heat conduction is minimal so that heat transfer occurs only by radiation. Temperature changes as large as 5–7K are therefore to be expected at the beginning of the desorption process. However, since the time constant for the desorption process is of the order of hundreds of seconds, this temperature transient dissipates rapidly and has no significant impact on the overall desorption process. Even for the worst case scenario considered here, for both interference and infrared microscopy methods, the systems can be considered as essentially isothermal

MASTER prompt and follow-up GRB observations

There are the results of gamma-ray bursts observations obtained using the MASTER robotic telescope in 2007 - 2009. We observed 20 error-boxes of gamma-ray bursts this period. The limits on their optical brightnesses have been derived. There are 5 prompt observations among them, obtained at our very wide field cameras. Also we present the results of the earliest observations of the optical emission of the gamma-ray bursts GRB 050824 and GRB 060926.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure

    Master Robotic Net

The main goal of the MASTER-Net project is to produce a unique fast sky survey with all sky observed over a single night down to a limiting magnitude of 19 - 20mag. Such a survey will make it possible to address a number of fundamental problems: search for dark energy via the discovery and photometry of supernovas (including SNIa), search for exoplanets, microlensing effects, discovery of minor bodies in the Solar System and space-junk monitoring. All MASTER telescopes can be guided by alerts, and we plan to observe prompt optical emission from gamma-ray bursts synchronously in several filters and in several polarization planes.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figure

Anwendung von Interferenz- und IR-Mikroskopie zur Charakterisierung und Untersuchung des Stofftransportes in nanoporösen Materialien

    Get PDF

Transient detections and other real-time data processing from wide-field chambers MASTER-VWF

At present time Robotic observatory making is of current importance. Having a large field of view and being able to point at anywhere, Robotic astronomical systems are indispensable when they looking for transients like grb, supernovae explosions, novae etc, as it's impossible in these cases to foresee what you should point you telescope at and when. In work are described prompt GRB observations received on wide-field chambers MASTER-VWF, and also methods of the images analysis and transients classifications applied in real-time data processing in this experiment. For 7 months of operation 6 synchronous observations of gamma-ray burst had been made by MASTER VWF in Kislovodsk and Irkutsk. In all cases a high upper limits have been received (see tabl \ref {tab_grbwf} and fig. \ref {allgrb}).Comment: 21 pages, 21 figure, 2 tables, Advances in Astronomy in pres
