Potential Lunar Landing Areas for Early Apollo Missions

One of the primary functions of the Lunar Orbiter Program was to provide high-resolution photographic coverage of potential Apollo landing sites. The photographs were screened by using Apollo lunar landing criteria to exclude rough areas and to select the smoothest sites for further study.
