The purpose of this research is to produce a model of learning based Contextual Environmental Chemistry that are valid, practical and effective to improve the Learning Outcomes and Student Academic Honesty for Junior High School. Products developed in this study consists of three components items, namely: the model of books, learning tools, and research instruments. This Refers to the development of research models Borg & Gall Consisting of 10 steps, but through consideration of capability, cost and time Researchers were very limited, only lasted until the fifth stage alone. PKKBL the model development process stages Consisting of five items, namely: (a) the initial stage of research and gathering information, (b) Planning Phase, (c) the early stages of product development format, (d) initial field test phase. Tests Carried out in two schools in turn. I performed testing on SMP 30, Makassar and II testing performed in MTsN Model Makassar. The results Obtained in the first experiment is (1) a practical models for aspects of the models consists of a feasibility PKKBL syntax, social systems, and the reaction principle support system completely undone by one (2) Including PKKBL effective models based on the criteria , that learning outcomes who Achieve mastery classes and categories have high academic honesty, student activities as expected, the ability of the teacher to manage learning in the high category, and the response of students towards learning in a positive category. Based on the results of the development, Model Obtained PKKBL valid, practical and effective. More information can be found in the full paper

    The Category of Matroids

The structure of the category of matroids and strong maps is investigated: it has coproducts and equalizers, but not products or coequalizers; there are functors from the categories of graphs and vector spaces, the latter being faithful; there is a functor to the category of geometric lattices, that is nearly full; there are various adjunctions and free constructions on subcategories, inducing a simplification monad; there are two orthogonal factorization systems; some, but not many, combinatorial constructions from matroid theory are functorial.Comment: 31 pages, 10 diagrams, 28 reference

High functional diversity is related to high nitrogen availability in a deciduous forest - evidence from a functional trait approach

    Get PDF
The current study tested the assumption that floristic and functional diversity patterns are negatively related to soil nitrogen content. We analyzed 20 plots with soil N-contents ranging from 0.63% to 1.06% in a deciduous forest near Munich (Germany). To describe species adaptation strategies to different nitrogen availabilities, we used a plant functional type (PFT) approach. Each identified PFT represents one realized adaptation strategy to the current environment. These were correlated, next to plant species richness and evenness, to soil nitrogen contents. We found that N-efficient species were typical for low soil nitrogen contents, while N-requiring species occur at high N-contents. In contrast to our initial hypotheses, floristic and functional diversity measures (number of PFTs) were positively related to nitrogen content in the soil. Every functional group has its own adaptation to the prevailing environmental conditions; in consequence, these functional groups can co-exist but do not out-compete one another. The increased number of functional groups at high N-contents leads to increased species richness. Hence, for explaining diversity patterns we need to consider species groups representing different adaptations to the current environmental conditions. Such co-existing ecological strategies may even overcome the importance of competition in their effect on biodiversity

    Power, Poverty and Inequality

Ten years on from the landmark 2006 edition of the IDS Bulletin that brought us the ‘powercube’ – a practical approach to power analysis that offered a way of confronting its complexity – we return to the question of how to analyse and act on power in development. This issue focuses on the ways in which invisible power can perpetuate injustice and widen inequalities. Articles call for ways to denaturalise norms and structures of social, political and economic inequality – tackling injustice, misrecognition, poverty, disenfranchisement – so that the universal aspirations of the Sustainable Development Goals may have a chance of success. Contributors discuss the ways in which economic and political modes of inequality interact with social inequalities such as gender, race or sexuality to create yet more inequality, confronting policymakers with a challenge. Such complex social inequalities become ‘normal’ – but the contributions in this new IDS Bulletin offer ways of untangling complexity using approaches to analysis which take account of multiple dynamics in unequal relations. Articles suggests means by which tacit understandings of what is bearable, useful and fair can be brought into question. The SDG call to ‘leave no one behind’ – which will only be achieved through breaking the vicious circle of inequality – is more than about policy, increased action, or creating alternative economies. It is also about changing norms of what is possible, and making visible those invisible norms that have hindered our ability to imagine and create a just world
