Learning Blind Motion Deblurring
As handheld video cameras are now commonplace and available in every
smartphone, images and videos can be recorded almost everywhere at anytime.
However, taking a quick shot frequently yields a blurry result due to unwanted
camera shake during recording or moving objects in the scene. Removing these
artifacts from the blurry recordings is a highly ill-posed problem as neither
the sharp image nor the motion blur kernel is known. Propagating information
between multiple consecutive blurry observations can help restore the desired
sharp image or video. Solutions for blind deconvolution based on neural
networks rely on a massive amount of ground-truth data which is hard to
acquire. In this work, we propose an efficient approach to produce a
significant amount of realistic training data and introduce a novel recurrent
network architecture to deblur frames taking temporal information into account,
which can efficiently handle arbitrary spatial and temporal input sizes. We
demonstrate the versatility of our approach in a comprehensive comparison on a

Regularization of subsolutions in discrete weak KAM theory
We expose different methods of regularizations of subsolutions in the context
of discrete weak KAM theory. They allow to prove the existence and the density
of subsolutions. Moreover, these subsolutions can be made strict and

Radiative neutrino masses and the Cohen-Kaplan-Nelson bound
Recently, an increasing interest in UV/IR mixing phenomena has drawn
attention to the range of validity of standard quantum field theory. Here we
explore the consequences of such a limited range of validity in the context of
radiative models for neutrino mass generation. We adopt an argument first
published by Cohen, Kaplan and Nelson that gravity implies both UV and IR
cutoffs, apply it to the loop integrals describing radiative corrections, and
demonstrate that this effect has significant consequences for the parameter

Traces of the (m)other: deconstructing hegemonic historical narrative in Teat(r)o Oficina Uzyna Uzona's Os Sertões
This article focuses on the way in which renowned São Paulo-based theatre company Teat(r)o Oficina Uzyna Uzona deconstructs hegemonic historical narrative in their 2000 - 2007 25 hour-long production of Euclides da Cunha’s seminal Brazilian novel Os sertões (“Rebellion in the Backlands”), an account of the War of Canudos (1896-1897), the first major act of State terrorism carried out by the nascent Brazilian Federal Government on the country’s subaltern population.
The Teat(r)o Oficina’s epic adaptation fuses events from the colonial period, the military dictatorship and contemporary 21st Century São Paulo to relate the repetitive cycles of misappropriation, oppression and resistance that have characterized the history of Brazil and its people over the centuries. However, any fatalistic view of victimhood as an essential aspect of Brazilian subjectivity is radically challenged by the vibrant, rhythmic, material impact of the theatrical super-signs underpinning the performance text.
Drawing on Julia Kristeva’s notion of the semiotic - the pre-linguistic, illogical, rhythmical materialism of language intimately related to a primordial relationship with the abject mother – I shall suggest that it is the rhythmic, libidinal force of the performance and its extensive use of the cultural manifestations of Brazil’s subaltern population that imbues Os Sertões with the silent presence-as-absence of the abject Brazilian (M)Other – the Black, Indigenous and Mestiza matriarchal line whose alternative discourse is often barred from hegemonic accounts of Brazilian historiography. Her silent heritage is embodied on stage by the members of the Oficina, who reclaim an alienating national heritage for themselves by transforming the often tragic tale of Brazil’s past into a joyous celebration of tenacious vitality
Graphene-based chemiresistive gas sensors
Gas sensors allow the monitoring of the chemical environment of humans, which is often crucial for their
wellbeing or even survival. Miniaturization, reversibility, and selectivity are some of the key challenges for
serial use of chemical sensors. This tutorial review describes critical aspects when using nanomaterials as
sensing substrates for the application in chemiresistive gas sensors. Graphene has been shown to be
a promising candidate, as it allows gas sensors to be operated at room temperature, possibly saving large
amounts of energy. In this review, an overview is given on the general mechanisms for gas-sensitive
semiconducting materials and the implications of doping and functionalization on the sensing
parameters of chemiresistive devices. It shows in detail how different challenges, like sensitivity, response
time, reversibility and selectivity have been approached by material development and operation modes.
In addition, perspectives from the area of data analysis and intelligent algorithms are presented, which
can further enhance these sensors' usability in the field
Balloon Atrial Septostomy as Initial Therapy in Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension
Balloon atrial septostomy is a palliative procedure currently used to bridge medically refractory pulmonary hypertension patients to lung transplantation. In the current report, we present balloon atrial septostomy as an initial therapy for high-risk pediatric pulmonary hypertension patients at our institution. Nineteen patients with median age of 4.3 years (range 0.1-14.3 years) underwent balloon atrial septostomy during initial admission for pulmonary hypertension. There were no procedural complications or deaths within 24 h of balloon atrial septostomy. Patients were followed for a median of 2.6 years (interquartile range 1.0-4.8 years). Three (16%) patients died, 3 (16%) underwent lung transplantation, and 1 (5%) underwent reverse Potts shunt. Transplant-free survival at 30 days, 1 year, and 3 years was 84%, 76%, and 67% respectively. This single-center experience suggests early-BAS in addition to pharmacotherapy is safe and warrants consideration in high-risk pediatric pulmonary hypertension patients

The importance of early immunotherapy in patients with faciobrachial dystonic seizures.
Faciobrachial dystonic seizures and limbic encephalitis closely associate with antibodies to leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1). Here, we describe 103 consecutive patients with faciobrachial dystonic seizures and LGI1 antibodies to understand clinical, therapeutic and serological differences between those with and without cognitive impairment, and to determine whether cessation of faciobrachial dystonic seizures can prevent cognitive impairment. The 22/103 patients without cognitive impairment typically had normal brain MRI, EEGs and serum sodium levels (P < 0.0001). Overall, cessation of faciobrachial dystonic seizures with antiepileptic drugs alone occurred in only 9/89 (10%) patients. By contrast, 51% showed cessation of faciobrachial dystonic seizures 30 days after addition of immunotherapy (P < 0.0001), with earlier cessation in cognitively normal patients (P = 0.038). Indeed, expedited immunotherapy (P = 0.031) and normal cognition (P = 0.0014) also predicted reduced disability at 24 months. Furthermore, of 80 patients with faciobrachial dystonic seizures as their initial feature, 56% developed cognitive impairment after 90 days of active faciobrachial dystonic seizures. Whereas only one patient developed cognitive impairment after cessation of faciobrachial dystonic seizures (P < 0.0001). All patients had IgG4-LGI1 antibodies, but those with cognitive impairment had higher proportions of complement-fixing IgG1 antibodies (P = 0.03). Both subclasses caused LGI1-ADAM22 complex internalization, a potential non-inflammatory epileptogenic mechanism. In summary, faciobrachial dystonic seizures show striking time-sensitive responses to immunotherapy, and their cessation can prevent the development of cognitive impairment.awx323media15681705685001
