A Conservative Approach to the Management of a Dental Trauma for Immediate Natural Esthetics

    Get PDF
Introduction: The fracture of front teeth is one of the routine presentations of traumatic injuries. The treatment of a fractured tooth involving the pulp includes root canal therapy and post placement followed by core build-up or by the extraction of the fractured tooth if it is not restorable. Case Presentation: We report a case of an adult male who had traumatized both his maxillary central incisors following a blow experienced during domestic violence. He had lost a fractured fragment of the right central incisor, while the left incisor had complicated fractures with fragments retained attached to the soft tissue. Following radiovisiography (RVG), both incisors were conservatively treated in a single visit by reattachment and post and core techniques. Conclusions: The treatment reported for reattachment of the tooth fractures and post and core techniques are reasonably easy while providing immediate and lasting results in patients’ regaining of social confidence and functionality

This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This thesis examines the context and practices of emotion management for National workers in International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) through a study of national workers recruited into disaster intervention in India. The research draws on postcolonial theory and problematizes current work exploring the implications of race and intersectionality within emotion management. The data collection strategy involved a narrative-based semi-structured interview process with a view to surfacing social and discursive constructions. The interpretation comprised of three levels of reading that included explication, explanation and exploration based reading using postcolonial and poststructural-feminist theories. Results highlight the dominance of neoliberal practices in INGOs and explain how these practices foreground various colonial continuities in the ways in which INGOs respond to disasters. Neoliberal practices inform and impact on the emotion management of National workers as they create a masculine and instrumental emotion regime where emotions and compassion are seen as dispensable. The colonial continuities on which neoliberalism draws, have an impact on the relationships between National and Expatriate workers. These relationships become ‘emotional encounters’ based on asymmetries that disadvantage the former. This understanding paves the way for proposing changes in contemporary disaster management practices. In this context the emotion management of National workers is a complex performance. These complex performances are linked to the postcolonial concepts of mimicry, sly-civility and hybridity and to the operation of power through desires and subjectivity. Through this context based interpretation, emotion management and theorising can be extended in useful ways. In particular, I go beyond the normative nature of much current theorising. In doing so I am able to consider emotion management as an ‘embodied emotional performance’ that places additional stress on stigmatised identities. This formulation helps break down the binaries that inform our current conceptualisation of emotion management such as emotion work and emotional labour; surface and deep acting; real and fake emotions; felt and expressed emotions. It also blurs the distinction between emotional labour and aesthetic labour. Further, it helps identify different forms of resistance to neoliberal dictates about the role of emotions in organizations. This allows for the recognition that embodied emotional performances enable conformity as well as creative resistance against emotion norms in organizations

Diabetes is a disease in which the blood sugar level rises above the normal level. When blood sugar levels are regulated by the hormone insulin produced by the pancreas. The fig fruit (Ficus carica Linn) is a plant that is thought to be used as an herbal remedy in the management of diabetes. Contains flavonoids which are thought to have potential as antidiabetic. Flavonoid mechanism in reducing blood glucose levels is to reduce glucose absorption and increase insulin secretion. Flavonoids are phenol compounds that have several pharmacological activities. Objective knowing antidiabetic activity of fig extract (Ficus carica Linn) against mice induced by alloxan. The process used is a 70% ethanol solvent immersion process. This study method is designed before and after the control group. Fifteen rats were divided into 5 treatment groups. 1 (negative control) received the CMC Na 1% group, 2 (positive control) received glibenclamide 0.09 mg / kgBB, 3, 4 and 5 received 9 mg / kgBB, 18 mg / kgBB, and 36 mg / kg. The fig extract was administered at a dose of kgBB. Previously, rats were given alloxan 125 mg / kg BB intraperitoneally for 3 days and mice with a blood glucose level of ± 200 mg / dL were used in this study. The results of this study showed that glibenclamide 0,09 mg/kgBB and fig extract dose 36 mg/kgBB could reduce the best glucose levels for seven days. Conclusion the best glibenclamid as antidiabetic in male white rats induced by alloxan and fig extract at a dose of 36 mg/kgBB 1,5% concentration is good as antidiabetic mellitus in male white mice induced by alloxan

The gain flatness of EDFA plays a very critical role in DWDM system applications in all optical network design. The main purpose of this paper is to achieve gain flatness for 32 channels in order to equalize amplitude gain of DWDM system. This system is simulated using Opti system software to achieve gain flatness of EDFA through variation of EDFA pump power and input power of system. The gains are flattened within 41±0.9 dB from Wavelength range 1546 to 1560 nm having noise figure less than 8dB, Optimized EDFA fiber length of 6.245 m and frequency spacing between channels is 0.4 nm simultaneously amplified in a EDFA of single stage. The working model consists of WDM transmitter , MUX, Pump laser, dual port WDM analyzer and EDFA as key component
