    Skewed Evolving Data Streams Classification with Actionable Knowledge Extraction using Data Approximation and Adaptive Classification Framework

    Skewed evolving data stream (SEDS) classification is a challenging research problem for online streaming data applications. The fundamental challenges in streaming data classification are class imbalance and concept drift. However, recently, either independently or together, the two topics have received enough attention; the data redundancy while performing stream data mining and classification remains unexplored. Moreover, the existing solutions for the classification of SEDSs have focused on solving concept drift and/or class imbalance problems using the sliding window mechanism, which leads to higher computational complexity and data redundancy problems. To end this, we propose a novel Adaptive Data Stream Classification (ADSC) framework for solving the concept drift, class imbalance, and data redundancy problems with higher computational and classification efficiency. Data approximation, adaptive clustering, classification, and actionable knowledge extraction are the major phases of ADSC. For the purpose of approximating unique items in the data stream with data pre-processing during the data approximation phase, we develop the Flajolet Martin (FM) algorithm. The periodically approximated tuples are grouped into distinct classes using an adaptive clustering algorithm to address the problem of concept drift and class imbalance. In the classification phase, the supervised classifiers are employed to classify the unknown incoming data streams into either of the classes discovered by the adaptive clustering algorithm. We then extract the actionable knowledge using classified skewed evolved data stream information for the end user decision-making process. The ADSC framework is empirically assessed utilizing two streaming datasets regarding classification and computing efficiency factors. The experimental results shows the better efficiency of the proposed ADSC framework as compared with existing classification methods

    Aluminum MMC’s are widely used in various applications because of their higher mechanical and physical properties when compared with their base Al alloy. This paper focuses on the change in mechanical properties of various Al/SiC composites fabricated by using stir casting method. Effect of SiC reinforcement in different Al alloys on mechanical properties like hardness, tensile strength, wear test, percentage elongation, residual stress measurements are discussed in detail. For this purpose various reinforcement of SiC with 0,4,8 percent weight and different particle sizes are considered along with Al alloys. Variations in process parameters of stir casting are also made and taken into consideration

    Evaluation of anxiolytic activity of encapsulated flax seed oil alone and as an adjuvant in Swiss Albino mice

    Background: Anxiety is a psychological and physiological state characterized by somatic, emotional, cognitive, and behavioural components with displeasing feeling of fear and concern. Among all the antianxiety drugs benzodiazepines are commonly employed drugs for the treatment but they do have limitations. Considering the high prevalence of anxiety disorders and lack of an ideal anxiolytic drug, search for better anxiolytic drugs continue. Medicinal plants are an inexhaustible source and continue to get explored in the search for new drugs.Methods: Antianxiety activity of Flax seed oil was evaluated in mice using Light-Dark Arena model and Elevated Plus Maze model. Encapsulated Flax seed oil (10ml/kg and 20ml/kg), Diazepam (1mg/kg), Normal saline (10ml/kg) and combination of Encapsulated Flax seed oil and Diazepam (10ml/kg + 1mg/kg) were given orally to the randomly divided 5 groups of 6 animals each. Number of entries and time spent in light arena of Light-Dark Arena model and in open arm of Elevated Plus Maze model were noted and compared among the 5 groups. Observations were analysed using ANOVA and Post hoc Tukey’s test.Results: Encapsulated Flax seed oil alone as well as an adjuvant to Diazepam showed significantly increased number of entries and time spent in light arena of Light-Dark Arena model (<0.05). It also showed significantly (<0.05) increased time spent but not number of entries in open arm of Elevated Plus Maze model.Conclusions: Encapsulated Flax seed oil showed anxiolytic property in Light-Dark arena model and Elevated plus maze model

    GLYCATION INHIBITORS AND PROBIOTICS CAN AMELIORATE THE CHANGES CAUSED BY HIGH FRUCTOSE FEED

    Objective: To evaluate the use of protein glycation inhibitors and probiotics to ameliorate secondary complications in diabetes and to improve gut microbiota respectively in high fructose fed Wistar rat.Methods: The study was conducted on male Wistar rats for 7 d. Blood glucose levels in oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were measured using glucometer, serum parameters were analyzed using commercial kits, antioxidant status was evaluated by measuring superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) levels, total reactive oxygen species were estimated using a fluorescent 2', 7'-dichlorofluorescin diacetate (DCF-DA) dye, and tissue fluorescence of liver, kidney and intestine were measured using a spectrofluorimeter.Results: OGTT pattern shows significant increase in blood glucose of fructose fed rats i.e. 154 mg/dl while, in aminoguanidine (AMG) treated and gut microbiota modulated animals it is 137 and 119 mg/dl resp. after 30 min on glucose administration. Marked reduction was found in SOD 6.37 and 11.25 U/mg of protein and catalase 186 and 65.5 U/mg of protein in liver and kidney of fructose fed animals when compared to fructose+AMG and fructose+EUGI. There is 5-6 fold significant increase in general and specific tissue fluorescence of liver and kidney, and 2.2 fold increase in liver reactive oxygen species was observed in fructose fed group as compare to control animals. Significantly higher glycation was found in intestine of fructose fed animals (general fluorescence 2.1 and specific fluorescence 3.1 AU/mg), more than that of diabetic control rats (general fluorescence 0.9 and specific fluorescence 1.6 AU/mg), represented an evidence for adverse impact of excess fructose on healthy gut.Conclusion: The use of protein glycation inhibitor and use of pre and probiotics significantly improved the serum parameters and would prevent progression to secondary complications

    The manuscript reports synthesis and antimicrobial activity of several novel heterocyclic compounds in which 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole synthesized via click chemistry approach and 4-aryl (5a-h) and 4-piperazinyl amide (7a-e) or 4-aryl amide (8a-e) substituted thiazole rings, are bridged through hydrazine linkage. Structures of all the synthesized compounds have been elucidated using 1H and 13C NMR and mass spectral analysis. In vitro antimicrobial screening of the target compounds has been carried out against six bacterial species viz. E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, S. pyogenes, K. pneumoniae and S. aureus and four fungal species viz. C. albicans, T. viride, A. flavus and A. brasiliensis. The activity study revealed that many of the compounds possess moderate to good activity against the tested microorganisms. The active compounds have been further studied to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)

    Development and analytical performance evaluation of an automated chemiluminescent immunoassay for pro-gastrin releasing peptide (ProGRP)

    Background: Pro-gastrin releasing peptide ( ProGRP) concentrations in blood play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The automated quantitative ARCHITECT (R) ProGRP assay was developed to aid in the differential diagnosis and in the management of SCLC. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the analytical performance of this chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay at multiple sites. Methods: ARCHITECT ProGRP measures ProGRP using a two-step sandwich using monoclonal anti-ProGRP antibodies coated on paramagnetic microparticles and labeled with acridinium. Analytical performance of the assay was evaluated at four sites: Abbott Japan, Denka Seiken, the Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Munich. Results: Total precision (%CV) for nine analyte concentrations was between 2.2 and 5.7. The analytical sensitivity of the assay was between 0.20 pg/mL and 0.88 pg/mL. The functional sensitivity at 20% CV was between 0.66 pg/mL and 1.73 pg/mL. The assay was linear up to 50,000 pg/mL using a 1:10 autodilution protocol. The calibration curve was stable for 30 days. Comparison with the Fujirebio microtiter plate enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (EIA) ProGRP assay gave a slope of 0.93 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.99. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that the ARCHITECT ProGRP assay has excellent sensitivity, precision, and correlation to a reference method. This assay provides a convenient automated method for ProGRP measurement in serum and plasma in hospitals and clinical laboratories. Clin Chem Lab Med 2009;47:1557-63

    Lornoxicam is a NSAID having oxicam class mainly prescribed in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. NSAID have the potential to relieve the pain and inflammation without the immunosuppressive and metabolic side effects associated with corticosteroids. Generally the classification of NSAID is applied to drugs that inhibit one or more steps in the metabolism of Arachidonic Acid (AA). In general, NSAID do not inhibit lipoxygenase formation or the formation of other inflammatory mediators. Due to its more biological half-life i.e. 3-5 hrs. in India, the dosage form is available in 8-16 mg, it can be increased upto 24 mg/day if necessary. The main objectives of present investigation are to confirm the drug by various analytical techniques, to study the drug excipients compatibility, to avoid the dose as well as the frequency of the dosage form and to perform the stability. The tablet can be developed with the combination of HPMC K 100M and Ethyl Cellulose as a matrix former. Lornoxicam is NSAID that has numerous functions in the body. It can be absorbed rapidly and completely from gastrointestinal track after the oral administration. Absolute bioavailability of Lornoxicam is 90-100%. No first pass effect is observed. It is found in the plasma in the unchanged form and as its hydroxylated metabolite. The hydroxylated metabolite exhibits no pharmacological activity. CYP2C3 has been shown to be the primary enzyme responsible for the biotransformation of Lornoxicam. Approximately 2/3 part of Lornoxicam is eliminated via the liver and 1/3 via the kidneys as inactive substance. Lornoxicam inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting the action of cyclooxygenase, which regulates the conversion of Arachidonic Acid to Prostaglandins. Lornoxicam mainly prescribed in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and also in the management of ankylosing spondylitis, acute sciatica and low back pain.Keywords: Lornoxicam, Sustained release, matrix

    Assessment of carbon loss related to Soil loss in the tropical watershed of Maharashtra, India

    Soil carbon pools have a significant impact on the global carbon cycle and soil erosion caused by natural or human activities is one of the main drivers of changes in soil carbon sequestration. The present study aimed to estimate the carbon loss associated with soil loss in the watershed using remote sensing and GIS techniques. The study was carried out at the Central MPKV Campus Watershed, Rahuri, located in the rain shadow region of the Maharashtra state, India. The soil loss from the watershed was estimated using USLE model. The soil loss and carbon loss from the watershed were estimated before the implementation of conservation measures and after the implementation of conservation measures. It was found that the average annual soil loss from the watershed before and after conservation measures was 18.68 t/ha/yr and 9.41 t/ha/yr, respectively. Carbon loss was determined by soil loss rate, organic carbon content and the carbon enrichment ratio. The carbon loss from the watershed before and after conservation measures was 348.71 kgC/ha/yr and 205.52 kgC/ha/yr. The findings revealed that soil and carbon erosion was very severe on steep slopes without conservation measures and with limited vegetation cover. It was found that by reducing the carbon loss associated with soil loss, soil conservation measures not only aid in the conservation of natural resources but also serve as a climate change mitigation measure
