Functional Characterization of Neurotensin Receptors in Human Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma Malignant Lymphocytes

Cutaneous T cell lymphomas are a clonal proliferation of CD4+ T lymphocytes primarily involving the skin. Mycosis fungoides is an epidermotropic CD4+ cutaneous T cell lymphoma, and a more aggressive form, Sezary syndrome, occurs when the malignant cells become nonepidermotropic. The role of neuropeptides in the growth and chemotaxis capacity of cutaneous T cell lymphoma cells remains unknown. In this report, we found that cutaneous T cell lymphoma cells, similarly to normal resting or activated peripheral lymphocytes, were able to bind neurotensin. We used an interleukin-2-dependent cutaneous T cell lymphoma malignant T cell line derived from cutaneous T cell lymphoma lesions in order to study the role of neurotensin in the proliferation and migration of these malignant cells. First, we determined that the malignant cells expressed neurotensin receptors on their cell membrane. Functional results indicated that neurotensin did not stimulate the growth of the cell line. In contrast, this neuropeptide inhibited the proliferation of the tumor cells in response to exogenous interleukin-2. Furthermore, we found that neurotensin enhanced both spontaneous and chemoattractant-induced migration of the malignant cells. This suggests that neurotensin in skin can play a role in the disease by locally limiting the growth of the cutaneous T cell lymphoma tumor cells in response to cytokines and by enhancing their chemotaxis capacity

WHAT ARE THE DIRECT AND INDIRECT DETERMINANTS OF EMOTIONAL EXHAUSTION BETWEEN EMOTIONAL DISSONANCE AND COPING STRATEGIES AMONG CAMEROONIAN WORKERS?

The objective of this study was to explore the direct and indirect predictors of burnout. Precisely, the purpose was to appreciate the effects of emotional dissonance on emotional exhaustion on the one hand and on the other hand to test the moderating role of coping strategies in this relationship. Data was collected from 114 Cameroonian workers, using an online questionnaire. Correlational, regression and moderation analyzes were performed. The results indicated significant correlations between the different variables of the study. Furthermore, emotional dissonance positively predicted emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, coping did not play a moderating role between emotional dissonance and emotional exhaustion. From there, it should be remembered that emotions occupy an important place at work and that it is necessary to know how to manage them in order to preserve the psychological health of workers

High temperature piezoelectric properties of flux-grown α-GeO 2 single crystal

International audienceThe temperature-dependence of the piezoelectric properties of trigonal -GeO2 single-crystals obtained by the high-temperature flux method was measured by the resonance technique of the electrical impedance in the 20°C-600°C range. To approach the values of the two independent piezoelectric coefficients d11 and d14, we first measured as a function of temperature the elastic coefficients S11, S14 and S66 and the dielectric permittivity 11 which are involved in the coupling coefficient k of both the thickness shear mode and the transverse mode. A Y-cut plate with a simple +45°-rotation ((YXtwl) +45°/0°/0°) was used to measure the coupling coefficient of the thickness shear mode, and two X-turned plates ((XYtwl) +45°/0°/0° and (XYtwl)-45°/0°/0°) were prepared to characterize the coupling coefficient of two transverse modes. From the whole experimental measurements, the piezoelectric coefficients of -GeO2 were calculated up to 600 °C. They show that this crystal is one of the most efficient in regard of the -quartz-like family at room temperature, and that its thermal comportment retains large piezoelectric properties up to 600°C

Effects of a short residential thermal spa program to prevent work-related stress/burnout on stress biomarkers: The thermstress proof of concept study

Objective Work-related stress is a public health issue. Stress has multiple physical and psychological consequences, the most serious of which are increased mortality and cardiovascular morbidity. The ThermStress protocol was designed to offer a short residential thermal spa program for work-related stress prevention that is compatible with a professional context. Methods Participants will be 56 male and female workers aged 18 years or above. All participants will undergo a 6-day residential spa program comprising psychological intervention, physical activity, thermal spa treatment, health education, eating disorder therapy and a follow-up. On six occasions, participants’ heart rate variability, cardiac remodelling and function, electrodermal activity, blood markers, anthropometry and body composition, psychology and quality of life will be measured using questionnaires and bone parameters. Results This study protocol reports the planned and ongoing research for this intervention. Discussion The ThermStress protocol has been approved by an institutional ethics committee (ANSM: 2016 A02082 49). It is expected that this proof of concept study will highlight the effect of a short-term specific residential thermal spa program on the prevention of occupational burnout and work-related stress. The findings will be disseminated at several research conferences and in published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT 03536624, 24/05/2018
