Selecting a Component with Longer Mean Life Time in Bivariate Pareto Models

    Get PDF
In any parallel system, selecting a component with longer mean lifetime is of interest to the researchers. Hanagal (1997) [1] discussed selection procedures for a two-component system with bivariate exponential (BVE) models. In this paper, the problem of selecting a better component with reference to its mean life time under bivariate Pareto (BVP) models is considered. Three selection procedures based on sample proportions, sample means and maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) are proposed. The probability of correct selection for the proposed procedures is evaluated through Monte Carlo simulation using normal approximation. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) of the proposed procedures is presented to facilitate the evaluation of the performance of procedures

The sample for the study was 300 physically challenged secondary school students viz. (visually impaired N= 100, hearing impaired N= 100 and orthopedically impaired N=100) by using purposive sampling technique. R.N.Kundus Neurotic Personality inventory was administered for the collection of data. The result of the study highlight that there is no significant difference among visually impaired, hearing impaired and orthopedically impaired secondary school students on neuroticism. All the categories relatively have high level of neuroticism. They tend to have more depressed moods and they commonly suffer from feelings of guilt, envy, anger and anxiety, more frequently and more severely. Neuroticism negatively affect their ability to function effectively in the activities of daily living, such as going to work and school,  and taking care of basic needs. Side by side with those main symptoms there are other morbid indications, such as irritability, sudden bursts of anger, aggressiveness and fickleness found commonly in them. The psychic, emotional tension and behavior disturbances also adversely effects their self-confidence and achievement motivation. As per the directive principles of constitution, education should be fair without the any regional or communal bias and should make justice with every individual more than ever for all marginalized groups including visually, hearing, orthopedically and speech impaired. This would permit community participation in education at the basic level and would introduce deep-seated change, leading to the empowerment of learners with Special Educational Needs such as visually, hearing, orthopedically and speech impaired. Until the 1970s, the policy encouraged isolation because the majority of educators thought that children with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities were so dissimilar and unusual that they could not take part in the activities of a common school (Advani, 2002). The majority of disabled population is deprived and experience difficulties in accessing essential health as well as rehabilitation services. This costs immobility, isolation, dependency, inequality, often premature death and enlarged poverty. According to the national census (2001) there are 21.9 million disabled people in India– that constitutes about 2.13 per cent of the total population - 1.03 per cent are visually impaired, 0.59 per cent ’orthopedically impaired 0.16 per cent speech impaired, 0.12 per cent ‘hearing’ impaired, and 0.22 per cent ‘mentally’ retard of the total national population. Hearing impairment refers to a defect in or injure to the sensory mechanism. The injury or defect might occur in various parts of the ear. It leads to hearing impairment or loss of hearing. A person may become deaf or hard of hearing depending upon the nature of impairment and the degree of hearing loss. Hearing impaired are those in whom the sense of hearing is non-functional for ordinary function of living. These people do not have capacity to distinguish sound at all even with improved vocalizations. The various sensory defective subjects included in this class will be those having hearing loss of more than 70 decibels (Graham Bell’s Scale) in the better ear (profound) loss of hearing in both ears (ministry of social welfare 1987). A hearing impairment is a hearing loss that prevents a person from totally receiving sounds from side to side the ear. As such sensory hearing defect leads to various other social and psychological problems. These hearing defective persons are prescribed to use hearing aids in order to overcome the various problems. In persistent hearing loss, the someone can not to discriminate any sounds. There are four types of sensory hearing defects such as Conductive hearing defect, neural defect, varied hearing defect and innermost hearing defect

This study was undertaken to study the self-confidence of visually impaired, hearing impaired and orthopedically impaired secondary school students of Kashmir division. The sample for the study was 300 physically challenged secondary school students viz. (visually impaired N= 100, hearing impaired N= 100 and orthopedically impaired N=100) by using purposive sampling technique. Rekha Gupta self-confidence inventory was administered for the collection of data. The result of the study highlight that there is no significant difference among visually impaired, hearing impaired and orthopedically impaired secondary school students on self-confidence. All the categories relatively lack confidence and they don’t have trust in their own ability to achieve goals that they plan and set out to achieve. The Low confidence halts their steps and paralyzes both the body and mind at the time of decision making and lack the inner belief in their ability to be successful. They tend to be withdrawn, unmotivated, overly sensitive to criticism, distrustful, and pessimistic. The physical impairment is one of the main reasons for having a deep seated, underlying lack of confidence in them. Their life is bound to be limited in some way, and this can lead to them having helplessness and hopelessness and also feel alone, tense, and nervous. Get PDF
Conducting polymers or synthetic monomers have revolutionized the world and are at the heart of scientific research having a scope of vast diverse applications in many technological fields. The conducting and redox polymers have been investigated as energy storage systems because of their better sustainability, ease of synthesis, and environmental compatibility. Owing to the conducting properties of quinones, they gain too much importance among the researchers. Keeping in view the importance and sustainability of conducting polymers, for the first time, this study compiles a detailed overview of synthetic approaches followed by investigations on electrochemical properties and future directions. This study critically examines the synthetic process of simple monomers, substituted monomers, and polymers of anthraquinone (AQ) under the classification of low- and high-molecular-weight AQ–based derivatives, their working principles, and their electrochemical applications, which enable us to explore their novel possible application in automotive, solar cell devices, aircraft aileron, and biomedical equipment. Irrefutably, we confirm that high-molecular-weight polymeric AQ compounds are best in comparison with low-molecular-weight AQ monomers because they have pre-eminent properties over monomeric systems. Because of the significant properties of AQ, polymeric systems are high demanding and have emerged as a hot topic among the researchers these days. In the current scenario, this study is of immense importance because it identifies and discusses the right and sustainable combination and paves the way to utilize these novel materials in different technologies

Information and communication technology disruption has greatly impacted various sectors, including the health service sector such as hospitals. As a government hospital, RSUD Al-Ihsan always tries to provide the best service, including marketing multiple services using social media to reach a wider audience. One of the right ways to develop social media is by activating social media through The Circular Model of SOME. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. This research data was collected using interviews, observations, and digital documents. This research found that Al-Ihsan Regional Hospital has generally utilized the share concept by creating three pillars of content: education, information, and entertainment. The optimization concept has also been implemented by using various features on Instagram such as stories, posts, reels, and highlights. The management concept is to create fast-response content such as the Integrity Zone. Lastly, important figures such as doctors or hospital leaders should be involved to increase the trust of their Instagram followers. However, there are several shortcomings in the optimization section, such as inconsistent use of hashtags in each upload and inconsistent replies to followers' comments in the management section. Therefore, this study shows that other institutions or agencies can note the importance of content consistency and copywriting in implementing social media strategies

The Making of the Maker: The Figure of Krishna in Bankimchandra’s Krishnacharitra

The movement against colonial supremacy in India, from the days of its origin, emphasized self-determination. The earliest of the Indian nationalist leaders—the intelligentsia of colonial India—had to assert an „original‟ identity while reacting against colonialism. Assertion of the Self was the only way to counter the intellectual, cultural and political threat posed by colonialism. This new Self had to be powerful, confident, assertive, grand and greater than the colonizer. Emphasizing the belief of a glorious and ancient „Indian‟ civilization was one of the ways in which this challenge was met. The idea of an ancient and once glorious India brought a symbolic value of resilience with it. A primordial Indian civilizationbecame an irresistible fantasy for the early Indian nationalists. They believed that the Indian nation is a given and therefore their nationality is predestined. However, this India that was imagined (at least to an extent) but believed to have been rediscovered was unmistakably a Hindu civilizatio
