Generalized Flow-Box property for singular foliations
We introduce a notion of generalized Flow-Box property valid for general
singular distributions and sub-varieties (based on a dynamical interpretation).
Just as in the usual Flow-Box Theorem, we characterize geometrical and
algebraic conditions of (quasi) transversality in order for an analytic
sub-variety (not necessarily regular) to be a section of a line foliation.
We also discuss the case of more general foliations.
This study is originally motivated by a question of Jean-Francois Mattei
(concerning the strengthening of a Theorem of Mattei) about the existence of
local slices for a (non-compact) Lie group action.Comment: Changes in Section
Regularization of Discontinuous Foliations: Blowing up and Sliding Conditions via Fenichel Theory
We study the regularization of an oriented 1-foliation on where is a smooth manifold and is a
closed subset, which can be interpreted as the discontinuity locus of
. In the spirit of Filippov's work, we define a sliding and sewing
dynamics on the discontinuity locus as some sort of limit of the
dynamics of a nearby smooth 1-foliation and obtain conditions to identify
whether a point belongs to the sliding or sewing regions.Comment: 32 page
Convergence to Hartree dynamics for interacting bosons
openThe main goal of the present thesis is to derive a rigorous estimate for the convergence to Hartree dynamics for interacting bosons in the low effective temperature limit. The 2-body interaction potential is chosen in the Hardy class and we allow our potential to have negative values, in order to model also attractive forces between particles.
The estimate is obtained working on proper functional norms on the space of square-integrable functions, endowed with a thermal gaussian measure μ that concentrates around the ground state in the low effective temperature limit.
We write the normal mode decomposition of the quantum field operators, and then truncate it by introducing an UV cutoff Λ. The cutoff is introduced to switch from the infinitely-many coupled ODEs describing the evolution of the annihilation operator to a finite ODEs system.
The dynamics of the system with the cutoff is studied on the Bargmann-Fock space, a subspace of the bosonic Fock space in the second quantization formalism.
We use coherent state expectation values to obtain scalar equations starting from operatorial ones. More precisely, coherent states are introduced algebraically through the action of the Weyl-Heisenberg translation operator; then the Bargmann transform and the corresponding Bargmann representation are introduced. We use the Bargmann representation of the canonical coherent states to compute the Wick symbol of the operators (i.e. the coherent expectation value). Wick symbols are also used to define the μ-norm for operators.
Finally, a bound on the distance (through the above mentioned norms) between the regularized and the full quantum dynamics is provided, and the bound dependence on cutoff, effective temperature and time is explicitly shown. Remarkably, we find linear time dependence for the bound. The main goal of the present thesis is to derive a rigorous estimate for the convergence to Hartree dynamics for interacting bosons in the low effective temperature limit.
Urethral prolapse is a condition observed in young male dogs, considered a rare occurrence, with a greater number of cases in brachycephalic breeds. The pathophysiology is still not fully understood and may be associated with factors such as genetic predisposition, untreated genital infection, excessive masturbation and sexual arousal, trauma, urethral stones, abnormal anatomical development, hormonal influences, and increased intra-abdominal pressure. The case report involving the American Bully breed, the surgical technique used, combined with castration, favors the adequate correction of the problem, being easy to perform, efficient and with a low risk of recurrence
______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis dissertation focuses on the relation between foreign policy and airpower. Drawing on the study of the modernization processes of the Brazilian Air Force, seeks to demonstrate that there is a close relation between the choosing processes of the purchases and the course of Brazilian Foreign Policy. The work is done based on Securitization theory of the Copenhagen School, considering airpower as a fundamentally offensive and strategic force, whose increment would imply in securitization processes. Through documentary analysis available
on three distinct historical periods, seeks to confirm the hypothesis that there is a political leadership of the civilian government for the choices, over specific criteria of the Air Force, and the role of bodies such as the Foreign Ministry and the Armed Forces as securitizating agents. Concludes that, despite the technical limitations which largely enforce such processes, these modernizations fit singularly in processes unrelated to the military sphere, involving aspects of foreign policy in its development
This study presents the implications of social network ties in the management of two nonprofit environmental organizations in Florianópolis. Organizations (Institute Ilhas and Institute Ekko Brazil) were analyzed throughout the ties of their social network and management aspects (regarding the organizational goals and decision making). The research is characterized as predominantly qualitative-type study of multiple cases. Data was gathered through document analysis, observation and semi-structured interviews applied to each main informant interviewed, selected according to their relevance to the object of study in each of the organizations surveyed. On data analysis, we used the technique of content analysis and document analysis. Our analysis identified that the two organizations studied have a network with 18 ties, these being characterized as strong or weak. One of the organizations which is more inclined to social leadership, has strong ties with all the actors whom are benefited by its actions, while the other organization, having its central focus on the conservation of species, presents, as being the strongest bonds of its network, actors who can ensure their financial survival. Regarding management aspects in focus on this work, we noted that the organizations studied have more similarities than discrepancies when it comes to organizational goals, however this is not true when looking to management decision-making. While in one organization this process occurs in a collaborative fashion, the other one is handled by members of the organization, that being the main difference between them. Regarding possible impacts by the ties in the management of the organizations studied, it was observed that all links of the network somehow generate impacts on management. However, the actors who perform inside coaching in the organizations and actors that finance the projects through public notices will have significantly more impact on the organization management, regardless of the strength of the tie
