    Higher Education in Lifelong Learning

    ABSTRACT In the behalf of CNAVES – the Portuguese agency for HE evaluation –we developed this study with the main purpose of assessing the role played by Higher Education (HE) in the usually called lifewide learning process. Likewise six Portuguese HE institutions and four among the main economic groups, together with ten small and medium enterprises have been addressed a specific survey. Professional associations have been called to participate as well but only one of them adhered. In order to obtain a more acute characterization of the Portuguese situation we run via internet a complementary research on the articulation between foreign HE institutions and enterprises leading to educational community networks and/or corporate universities. Among the main results we could perceive the weakness of the Portuguese HE institutions * enterprises network and the conclusion that the main reasons for articulation consist in participating in the advisory boards. Universities are not adopting so far any meaningful organization’s or syllabuses’ innovation in order to specifically address “new public” needs and only a few among them systematically develop graduate follow up after they enter into labor market.Higher Education; Lifewide learning; University Entreprises Networking; Portugal

    Does School Improve Equity? ABSTRACT Most school inequality research usually emphasize the role played by pupils' family social, cultural and economic condition, their parents' educational achievement, previous own school story and gender, among other factors. Despite also considering these same determinants, our main purpose in this paper had to do with assessing the specific role played both directly and indirectly by the "school effect" upon pupils' scholar trajectories; and thereby trying to investigate how far does school alleviate or reinforce the other factors inequality outcomes. Therefore, we began by identifying the statistically meaningful variables on the basis of contingency analysis, then went on to investigate the joint influence exerted by those variables upon two different success/failure school outcomes. Finally, we applied discriminant with control analysis in order to assess the magnitude of "school effect" throughout its diverse intervention forms along school course. We concluded that Portuguese secondary school actually amplifies both the vicious and the virtuous cycles generated by the other inequality variables, depending mostly on school characteristics themselves and possibly with their interaction with surrounding area characteristics (author abstract

    Segurança em megaeventos: o olhar de torcedores sobre a copa do mundo de 2018

    Este trabalho versa sobre segurança em megaeventos esportivos. O objetivo geral do estudo é analisar a segurança da Copa do Mundo de 2018 sob a ótica do torcedor presente nos estádios e evento paralelo oficial (FAN FEST). A coleta de dados desta pesquisa qualitativa deu-se por um grupo focal realizado com torcedores residentes em Brasília-DF que estiveram na Rússia para assistir aos jogos da Copa do Mundo de 2018 a fim de compreender as questões formuladas no problema e nos objetivos da pesquisa. As respostas foram analisadas seguindo o método de análise de conteúdo (Bardin, 2011). A pesquisa revelou que os torcedores consideraram a segurança como um dos pontos positivos na Copa do Mundo de 2018. Os participantes também afirmaram terem se sentido seguros nos locais de competição e nas cidades-sede por onde passaram. Os torcedores ainda identificaram riscos e analisaram medidas de segurança adotadas no referido megaevento esportivo

    Controlling a leaky tap

    We apply the Ott, Grebogy and Yorke mechanism for the control of chaos to the analytical oscillator model of a leaky tap obtaining good results. We exhibit the robustness of the control against both dynamical noise and measurement noise.A possible way of controlling experimentally a leaky tap using magnetic-field-produced variations in the viscosity of a magnetorheological fluid is suggested.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures.     Estudo de caso da NR 17 e a sua importância na relação colaborador e empresa / NR 17 Case study and its importance in the collaborator and company relationship

    A NR 17 trata-se de uma norma que tem como objetivo principal a adequação do trabalho ao homem, proporcionando assim a saúde e segurança física e mental do trabalhador (1). Ao longo do processo de evolução da indústria tecnológica, percebeu-se a necessidade de adquirir um maior conhecimento sobre as capacidades e limites do ser humano. As funções exercidas por esses trabalhadores têm um impacto importante na prevalência de lesões. Dessa maneira, quando não se há uma atenção à saúde e segurança da equipe pode ser desenvolvido males, afetando diretamente a produtividade organizacional. O trabalho teve como objetivo mostrar um relato de experiência da não utilização da norma brasileira 17 dentro do ambiente de trabalho e suas consequências para todos os envolvidos. Para o desenvolvimento desse trabalho foi possível contar com a norma regulamentadora 17, sites e experiência vivida dentro de uma fábrica, para assim, realizar uma discussão a respeito da falta de aplicação da norma e seus resultados negativos devido a não conformidade. Conclui-se que a prevenção é realmente a melhor opção sob qualquer perspectiva, seja em termos morais ou legais, seja em termos financeiros. Outro fator que deve ser levado em conta é o fato de que as não conformidades proporcionam a existência de riscos aos quais os trabalhadores estão constantemente expostos. Portanto a vantagem econômica em se manter a empresa em condições de atendimento ao estabelecido pela regulamentação brasileira é significativa

    O turismo e a economia brasileira: uma discussão da matriz de insumo-produto

    The World Tourism Organization define tourists as being those who travel and stay away from their homes for a less than one-year period. In economic terms, tourism is seem as an activity that implies outlays from those far from home between at least a twenty-four-hour period and, at most, one year; involving different economic activities in transport, food, lodging and leisure sectors. These aspects implies, therefore, a major interaction between many economic sectors, being important analyzing the articulation between them both in a complementary way and regarding the economic impacts their development involve. The input-output matrix is an excellent analitical tool in this case, making it possible to visualize the articulations between tourism and the rest of the economy, as well as to estimate the impacts of tourism as and demander and offerer of inputs for the Brazilian economy. It can also verify the effects of the sector growth on the income and labour generated. These aspects are studied in this work by estimating the input-output matrix for tourism in Brazil in the year of 2004
