More bounds for elgenvalues using traces
AbstractLet the n Ă n complex matrix A have complex eigenvalues λ1,λ2,âŠÎ»n. Upper and lower bounds for ÎŁ(Reλi)2 are obtained, extending similar bounds for ÎŁ|λi|2 obtained by Eberlein (1965), Henrici (1962), and Kress, de Vries, and Wegmann (1974). These bounds involve the traces of AâA, B2, C2, and D2, where B=12 (A + Aâ), C=12 (A â Aâ) /i, and D = AAâ â AâA, and strengthen some of the results in our earlier paper âBounds for eigenvalues using tracesâ in Linear Algebra and Appl. Understanding revenge pornography: public perceptions of revenge pornography and victim blaming
Purpose: The disclosure of private images with the intent of causing distress is often described as ârevenge pornographyâ. In the UK, this newly legislated crime has received a high level of media attention following several high profile cases, however there is a paucity of research in this area.
Methods: 168 adults (UK general public) completed an online survey using a vignette approach. Views of the influence of perpetrator-victim relationship length and reason for termination were considered alongside perception of an offence, the necessity of police intervention, what extent revenge pornography creates psychological harm in victims, and victim blaming.
Findings: Perpetrator-victim relationship length and reason for relationship breakdown did not influence perceptions of victim blame. Participants believed that the situation described in the vignettes was likely to be an offence, and that police intervention is somewhat necessary. Participants believed that the scenario was âvery likelyâ to create fear, and âmoderately likelyâ to create psychological/mental harm in victims. In line with the literature relating to stalking and sexual assault, men blamed the victim significantly more than women. Furthermore, women rated police intervention significantly more necessary than men.
Implications: The public are recognising that revenge pornography is an offence, with consequences being fear and psychological harm, showing an awareness of the impact on victims. However, there are sex differences in the perceptions of revenge pornography and victim blame and this could be addressed by raising awareness of this crime. This research, which highlights that the public are aware of some of the harm caused, may encourage victims in coming forward to report such a crime.
Originality: There is a paucity of research into revenge pornography, and this study is one of the first in this area
Faktor-Faktor Yang Berhubungan Dengan Kepatuhan Berobat Pasien Tuberkulosis Paru di Lima Puskesmas di Kota Manado
Based on Global Tuberculosis Control WHO 2012, Indonesia went up from fifth to forth rank after India, China, and South Africa, obviously problem within restraint of Tuberculosis has increased. On 2008 North Sulawesi classified Pulmonary TB diseases as the top 10 infectious diseases with a prominent number of 1,571 cases. Manado City on 2012 Pulmonary Tuberculosis with BTA positive number was 1.645 cases. Basically, this condition exhibit an efforts development of healthy in order to improve risk factors for Pulmonary TB until now has not been entirely successful. The type of this research is cross sectional that purpose to know risk of factors (age, gender, education, employment, level of income, knowledge and the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs related with obedience of treatment pa-tients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in five health centers in the city of Manado. There were 171 samples taken from a total population of 119 people. Data obtained from direct interviews using questionnaires. The statistical test used was Chi square. The result of research indicates that the variable, which relates with treatment compliance of TB pa-tient, is education. (p=0,000) and knowledge (p=0,000). Variable that are not related to obedience of treatment TB patients are age, gender, education, occupation, level of income and side effect OAT (p=0,05).Keywords: Clean and Health Behaviour, Knowledge, Attitude and Behaviou
Case series of females charged with murder or attempted murder of minors and referred to Weskoppies hospital in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act over a period of 21 years
Women charged with murder or attempted murders of children are usually sent for forensic
psychiatric evaluation. In South Africa research and literature on this population is scarce. A
case series was studied of forensic files of 32 females charged with murder or attempted
murder of children. These files contained information on such females. The forensic psychiatric
observation was mainly to establish whether a psychiatric diagnosis could be made, and
whether they were triable and accountable. Files from 01 Jan 1990 to 31 Dec 2010 (21 years)
were obtained of cases observed in Weskoppies Hospital. The aim of describing this case series
was to attempt to find a psychiatric profile of such cases, as well as to find other information
for example, demographics. The findings, after forensic observation regarding their ability to
follow court proceedings and their ability to contribute meaningfully to their defence
(trialability) as well as their ability to distinguish between right and wrong, and their ability to
act in accordance with the said appreciation (accountability) at the time of the alleged offence
were also reported. This information could contribute to making medical practitioners and
mental health care workers aware of risk factors involving such cases and to encourage them
to enquire about these risk factors.http://www.sajpsychiatry.orgam2016PsychiatryStatistic
Forensic psychiatry in Africa : prospects and challenges
Forensic Psychiatry has a history that dates back almost two thousand years, and has evolved into a recognised discipline with a robust background of scientific enquiry, mostly because mental health care has always had an important interface with the law. Nevertheless, even in the developed world there are differences between countries with respect to the extent forensic mental health services have developed. This has been exacerbated by the differences in legal systems, resources and priorities in each country. Consequently comparisons and cooperation between forensic psychiatrists internationally has been difficult. In Africa, which is the second largest and most populous continent and containing an immense diversity of languages, religious traditions, ethnic groups and sociopolitical systems forensic psychiatry has largely remained underdeveloped within the context of a pervasive neglect in the provision of mental health services. The situation is compounded by the dearth of information about forensic services on the continent. As described by an eminent African psychiatrist, "the practice of forensic psychiatry in Africa is shrouded in both mystery and confusion". In addition to the lack of appropriate facilities, most countries in Africa have, on average, one psychiatrist per one million inhabitants. Moreover many psychiatrists have migrated to developed countries, leaving a small number of mental health professionals burdened with large numbers of patients.http://www.journals.co.za/ej/ejour_medjda.htm

Genetic variation in the MBL2 gene is associated with Chlamydia trachomatis infection and host humoral response to Chlamydia trachomatis infection
This study aims to assess the potential association of MBL2 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to Chlamydia trachomatis infection. We analysed a selected sample of 492 DNA
and serum specimens from Dutch Caucasian women. Women were categorized into four groups of
infection status based on the results of DNA and antibody tests for C. trachomatis: Ct-DNA+/IgG+, CtDNA+/IgGâ, Ct-DNAâ/IgG+, and Ct-DNAâ/IgGâ. We compared six MBL2 SNPs (â619G > C (H/L),
â290G > C (Y/X), â66C > T (P/Q), +154C > T (A/D), +161A > G (A/B), and +170A > G (A/C)) and
their respective haplotypes in relation to these different subgroups. The â619C (L) allele was less
present within the Ct-DNAâ/IgG+ group compared with the Ct-DNAâ/IgGâ group (OR = 0.49;
95% CI: 0.28â0.83), while the +170G (C) allele was observed more in the Ct-DNA+/IgG+ group as
compared with the Ct-DNAâ/IgGâ group (OR = 2.4; 95% CI: 1.1â5.4). The HYA/HYA haplotype
was more often present in the Ct-DNAâ/IgGâ group compared with the Ct-DNA+/IgG+ group
(OR = 0.37; 95% CI: 0.16â0.87). The +170G (C) allele was associated with increased IgG production
(p = 0.048) in C. trachomatis PCR-positive women. This study shows associations for MBL in immune
reactions to C. trachomatis. We showed clear associations between MBL2 genotypes, haplotypes, and
individualsâ stages of C. trachomatis DNA and IgG positivity.NGI Life Sciences Pre-Seed and a EuroTransBio grant.https://www.mdpi.com/journal/ijerphMedical Microbiolog
