    Kollippavai in Sangam texts

    There are many songs in the Sangam texts about a mother goddess called Kollippavai. It is said to be a puppet written in the cave of Kolli, a puppet made by a goblin, and a puppet written by God himself. Given the diversity of the Tamil tradition, this phrase sets out to illustrate the concept of empathy. Although the word puppet has many dimensions such as paganism, puppetry, and divinity, there are various theories about their authenticity. Silappathikaram says that Kollippavai is a women. Thirumal dance Pavai Koothu Mogini Pavai dance Silappathikaram said that it was a later development. Mohini's appearance at the end of the Kshira Sagara is a later story. PL Sami's establishment in Tamil literature of the worship of the mother goddess can be found in the fact that Aathal's killer is also a kind of mother deity like the jungle. This article attempts to establish its authenticity through the Sangam verse

    Computational modeling of proton exchange membrane electrolysis cell for hydrogen production

    Numerical simulations of electrochemical process for hydrogen production were performed for the purpose of examining the phenomena occurring within the proton exchange membrane (PEM) water splitting cell. A steady-state isothermal two dimensional model of the cell is developed. Finite element method was used to solve the multi-component transport model coupled with flow in porous medium, charge balance and electrochemical kinetics; Parametric studies were performed based on appropriate mass balances, transport, and electrochemical kinetics applied to the cell. It is observed that, as the water on the anode side flows from the inlet to the outlet, the mass fraction of oxygen increases because of the oxidation of oxygen. Similarly, on the cathode side, as the mass fraction of water decreases, the hydrogen mass fraction increases resulting in the formation of hydrogen by reduction of protons. Effects of cell temperature, length of the current collector and thickness of the membrane on the cell performance are examined. As the cell temperature increases, the current density across the cell and mass fraction of hydrogen increases respectively. Increase in thickness of membrane causes a decrease in the cell current density. The current density across the cell tends to increase as the length of the current collector increases

    The present study examined the Influence of Youth's general perception towards use of sex appeal in advertisements on effectiveness of Advertisements using varying degree of intimacy between couple images as a tool for promotion. General Linear Model MANOVA was applied and results indicate that perception influences the effectiveness of Advertisements at multivariate level. At univariate level the influence proved significant for Wild and Mild stimuli not for moderate appeal.     Vanity of Indians and the Success of the Cosmetic Advertisements

    The quest for adornment is a global passion and Indians are no exception to it. Indian Cosmetic market is a multi Billion Market (Lifestyle, 2012) and reportedly growing at 15-20% annually. Though it was observed that demand for skin whitening products by both the genders is the main drive of the bullish trend in the cosmetic market, the same can’t undermine the substantial contribution of the other beauty products. This growing vanity of Indians widens the scope for global cosmetic marketers and not much scholarly light has been thrown upon this area. Hence, this present study concentrates on the influence of Gender and Social status on Physical and Achievement variables and how a latent variable Vanity explains Physical and Achievement, finally the effect of Vanity on Cosmetic Product Advertisement Effectiveness. A sample of 350 was collected from Tamil Nadu Pondicherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by adopting non-probability convenience sampling method. A Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to examine the complex relationship between variables and test the Hypotheses. Results indicate irrespective of Gender and Social status people are concerned about their appearance and success in life and vanity has a significant role to play towards the likelihood of remembering cosmetic advertisements.     Molecular characterization and antioxidant activity of Volkameria inermis L.

    The present investigation aimed to study the genomic characterization and free radical scavenging potential of a traditional plant Volkameria inermis. A chloroplast genome rbcL was used in molecular characterization and it revealed the phylogeny and evolutionary affinities of V. inermis with the outgroups of the family through BLAST search based on Neighbor-Joining (NJ) analysis. The free radical scavenging potential of various extracts of V. inermis was observed at different concentrations (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 μg/mL) in DPPH and ABTS in vitro models. Ascorbic acid (DPPH) and Trolox (ABTS) were used as standard. In DPPH assay, among the different extracts (hexane, chloroform, acetone, ethanol, methanol and water) tested, methanol showed maximum scavenging activity with the IC50 value of 28.33μg/mL followed by acetone with the IC50 value of 31.937μg/mL. The other extracts, ethanol and water extracts showed moderate activity with the IC 50 value of 82.558 μg/mL and 81.758μg/mL; chloroform and hexane showed very lower antioxidant activity and the IC50 values are 518.776μg/mL, 1066.16μg/mL accordingly. In ABTS assay, methanol was observed as a highly active extracts with the IC50 value of 70.196μg/mL followed by ethanol extract (103.078μg/mL). The results showed that the methanol extract exhibits strong antioxidant activity in DPPH and ABTS assays. The scavenging efficiency showed dose dependent increase in concentration absorption compared to Ascorbic acid and Trolox. Our findings provide the molecular identification and evidence for the potential of Volkameria inermis as a source of natural antioxidants

    IMPLEMENTATION OF REUSE IN THE AGILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS SCRUM

    The concept of reuse is applied in one of the agile development methodologies called the scrum. Sprint is a single functionality and the result at the end of the sprint functionality is derived as the shippable or bugs. This paper makes an attempt to use the concept of reuse in the agile software development to meet the dynamic change of customer requirements in banks. A banking project is created using both waterfall model and scrum model, and the knowledge gained is stored in the ontology-based repository for the first time. Again, the same project is created for different vendors using the ontology-based repository. The result shows that maximum sprint is reused and all the knowledge gained is stored in the form of ontology. This ontology helps identify the shippable component of each sprint which is a small executable functionality. This leads to less cost and time to deliver the product. The main aim is to increase the availability of the reusable artifacts, which lead to increase the reusability of the developer. The experimental results show improvements in the performance of retrieving the components for the software development. Â

    Speech Acts and Discourse Pattern in Information Sharing Practice in Malaysian Web-Forums

    Web-forum discussions are widely used in business, health and education and in general discussion virtually. This practice of sharing information via Internet is also known as Computer Mediated Discourse (CMD). By focusing on language used in web-forums, this study explores the practice of collaborative information sharing in Malaysian web-forums discourse by using Speech Acts Theory. The study found that forum-members used different speech acts to share information in an interactive manner. However, speech acts such as to explain, to suggest and to question were used more extensively than other types of speech acts. The study also found that speech acts to denote politeness such as to apologise, to greet were used in the web-forum interaction to sustain collaboration and camaraderie in online information sharing practices. The discourse pattern reveals that web-forum members interacted at two phrases; Phase 1 to seek general information about the topic of discussion, and Phase II to have a deeper discussion where new information is added to the topic of discussion that leads to new knowledge being created. Promoting “men and women partnership firms” instead of exclusively women-oriented enterprises is another practical strategy. It is seen that husband-wife enterprises with one or two helpers in fish processing/marketing in fishery related activities and other fishery related activity yields better prospects. Integration of the gender perspective in aquaculture research and technology development is an essential requisite because the gender mainstreaming approach advances gender equality and equity in the society. Similarly it is quite necessary for integrating gender perspective in aquaculture extension also because women are the important stakeholders of our aquaculture development process and our Extension system hardly targets the women folk for technological empowerment

    Comparative Analysis of Contextual Relation Extraction based on Deep Learning Models

    Contextual Relation Extraction (CRE) is mainly used for constructing a knowledge graph with a help of ontology. It performs various tasks such as semantic search, query answering, and textual entailment. Relation extraction identifies the entities from raw texts and the relations among them. An efficient and accurate CRE system is essential for creating domain knowledge in the biomedical industry. Existing Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques are not suitable to predict complex relations from sentences that consist of more than two relations and unspecified entities efficiently. In this work, deep learning techniques have been used to identify the appropriate semantic relation based on the context from multiple sentences. Even though various machine learning models have been used for relation extraction, they provide better results only for binary relations, i.e., relations occurred exactly between the two entities in a sentence. Machine learning models are not suited for complex sentences that consist of the words that have various meanings. To address these issues, hybrid deep learning models have been used to extract the relations from complex sentence effectively.
