Content Analysis of Course Books and Online Courses for Teaching English for Specific Purposes for IT Professionals

The paper deals with the issue of English language training for IT professionals at Ukrainian universities. Understanding the importance of studying foreign languages has been confirmed by a number of normative documents. Peculiarities of professional training of IT specialists at higher education institutions with the focus on foreign language training are considered. Pedagogical conditions for formation of the communicative competence of IT professionals are analysed. The content analysis of existing English course books, textbooks and online courses for IT professionals has been conducted to find out the content of foreign language training. It is stated that English language teaching aids in information technology, computer engineering, computing and software engineering can be used in the learning process, however, their use requires thorough refinement and modification. Virtual reality in foreign language training at higher educational institutions

The paper deals with the urgent problem of application of virtual reality in foreign language training. Statistical data confirms that the number of smartphone users, Internet users, including wireless Internet users, has been increasing for recent years in Ukraine and tends to grow. The coherence of quick mobile Internet access and presence of supplementary equipment enables to get trained or to self-dependently advance due to usage of virtual reality possibilities for education in the stationary classrooms, at home and in motion. Several important features of virtual reality, its advantages for education are discussed. It is noted that virtual reality is remaining a relatively new technology in language learning. Benefits from virtual reality implementation into foreign language learning and teaching are given. The aspects of immersion and gamification in foreign language learning are considered. It is emphasized that virtual reality creates necessary preconditions for motivation increasing. The results of the survey at two higher education institution as to personal experience in using VR applications for learning foreign languages are presented. Most students at both universities have indicated quite a low virtual reality application usage. Six popular virtual reality applications for foreign language learning (Mondly, VRSpeech, VR Learn English, Gold Lotus, AltSpaceVR and VirtualSpeech) are analyzed. It is stated that the most preferred VR application for foreign language learning includes detailed virtual environment for maximal immersion, highlevel visual effects similar to video games, simple avatar control, thorough material selection and complete complicity level accordance of every element and aspect, affordability, helpful and unobtrusive following up

Віртуальна реальність у навчанні іноземних мов у закладах вищої освіти

Статистичні дані підтверджують, що кількість користувачів смартфонів, користувачів Інтернету, включаючи користувачів бездротового Інтернету, останніми роками зростає в Україні і має тенденцію до зростання. Узгодженість швидкого доступу до мобільного Інтернету та наявність додаткового обладнання дає змогу пройти навчання або самостійно просунутися завдяки використанню можливостей віртуальної реальності для навчання в стаціонарних аудиторіях, вдома та в русі. Обговорюється кілька важливих особливостей віртуальної реальності, її переваг для освіти. Зазначається, що віртуальна реальність залишається відносно новою технологією у вивченні мови. Надаються переваги від впровадження віртуальної реальності в навчання та викладання іноземних мов. Розглянуто аспекти занурення та гаміфікації у навчанні іноземних мов. Підкреслюється, що віртуальна реальність створює необхідні передумови для підвищення мотивації. Представлено результати опитування двох вищих навчальних закладів щодо особистого досвіду використання програм VR для вивчення іноземних мов. Більшість студентів обох університетів вказали на досить низьке використання додатків віртуальної реальності. Проаналізовано шість популярних додатків віртуальної реальності для вивчення іноземних мов (Mondly, VRSpeech, VR Learn English, Gold Lotus, AltSpaceVR та VirtualSpeech). Зазначається, що найбільш бажаний додаток VR для вивчення іноземних мов включає детальне віртуальне середовище для максимального занурення, високоефективні візуальні ефекти, подібні до відеоігор, просте управління аватарами, ретельний підбір матеріалу та повний рівень відповідності кожному елементу та аспекту, доступність , корисне та ненав’язливе подальше спостереження

Хмарні технології для посилення комунікації ІТ-спеціалістів

The paper deals with the urgent problem of enabling better communication of IT-specialists in their business and interpersonal interaction using information and communication technologies, including cloud technologies. It is emphasized, that effective communication is an integral part of the successful professional work of IT-professionals, but in recent years it has undergone significant transformations, which have been expressed in new forms and means of communication, its content changes, its complications and volume increases, the need to improve its accuracy, and the level of understanding for a wide range of people. Certain peculiarities of communication in the IT-environment have been discussed. It is noted that typical forms of communication in the IT-environment are synchronous and asynchronous ones. The authors insist that during their professional career IT-specialists communicate in the professional community from a variety of positions and common types of task formulation can be expressed through verbal or symbolic communication means. Due to the specifics of their professional activities, IT-professionals often need to communicate using synchronous communication (chats, video chats, audio chats, instant messaging) and asynchronous communication (email, forums, comments) tools, hence there is a demand to teach corresponding communication skills at universities. Certain practical examples of teaching communication skills using modern technologies are given. Advantages of cloud technologies for better communication within a company or an educational institution are presented. Microsoft Office 365 services, which can be successfully used to enable better communication and collaboration within a company or an educational institution are analyzed.У статті розглядається нагальна проблема забезпечення кращого спілкування ІТ-спеціалістів у їх бізнесі та міжособистісної взаємодії з використанням інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій, включаючи хмарні технології. Підкреслюється, що ефективне спілкування є невід’ємною частиною успішної професійної роботи ІТ-спеціалістів , але за останні роки воно зазнало значних змін, що виразилось у нових формах та засобах спілкування, зміні його змісту, ускладненнях та обсяг збільшується, потреба в підвищенні його точності та рівні розуміння для широкого кола людей. Обговорено деякі особливості спілкування в ІТ-середовищі. Зазначається, що типовими формами спілкування в ІТ-середовищі є синхронне та асинхронне. Автори наполягають на тому, що протягом своєї професійної кар'єри ІТ-спеціалісти спілкуються у професійній спільноті з різних позицій, а загальні типи формулювання завдань можуть бути виражені за допомогою вербальних або символічних засобів комунікації. Через специфіку своєї професійної діяльності ІТ-спеціалістам часто доводиться спілкуватися за допомогою синхронного спілкування (чати, відеочати, аудіочати, обмін миттєвими повідомленнями) та асинхронного спілкування (електронна пошта, форуми, коментарі), отже, існує потреба в навчанні відповідним комунікативним навичкам в університетах. Наводяться певні практичні приклади викладання навичок спілкування із застосуванням сучасних технологій. Представлено переваги хмарних технологій для кращого спілкування в компанії чи навчальному закладі. Проаналізовано служби Microsoft Office 365, які можна успішно використовувати для кращого спілкування та співпраці в межах компанії чи навчального закладу

Formation of Tubular Aluminum Oxides by Local Electrochemical Anodization in Organic Electrolytes and Their Anti-Reflection Properties

Research has been carried out on the formation of tubular aluminum oxides by local electrochemical anodization in aqueous solutions of organic acids such as formic, citric, tartaric, malic and others. Self-ordered nanostructures formed this way can be used in the manufacture of various optical devices. Tubular aluminum oxides formed by local electrochemical anodization in organic acids have a high concentration of anionic complexes containing carbon atoms over 10 at.%. Studies of reflection spectra showed effective anti-reflection properties of films with a specular reflection coefficient of 0.7–1.4 %

Визначено область їх застосування за критерієм питомої енергоємності процесів і робіт при відвантаженні продукції з штабелів поверхневих складів типових кар’єрів.Исследованы конструктивные решения перегрузочных складов готовой продукции на нерудных карьерах твердых полезных ископаемых, которые целесообразно применять в технологических схемах циклично-поточных перерабатывающе-транспортных комплексов оборудования указанных карьеров. Формируемые подобным образом самоупорядоченные наноструктуры могут быть использованы при изготовлении различных оптических устройств. Трубчатые оксиды алюминия, сформированные локальным электрохимическим анодированием в органических кислотах, имеют высокую концентрацию анионных комплексов, содержащих более 10 ат.% атомов углерода. Исследования спектров отражения показали эффективные антиотражающие свойства пленок с коэффициентом зеркального отражения 0,7–1,4 %
