    IN VITRO ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTICANCER ACTIVITY OF ULVA LACTUCA L.USING MOLT-3 CELL LINE

    Objective: The aim of the present investigation was to determine the in vitro antioxidant and anticancer activity of the ethanol extract of Ulva lactuca L. Methods: The present study was to investigate the antioxidant and anticancer activity of U. lactuca L. The extract of U. lactuca L. was extracted by ethanol and subject to analysis. An in vitro antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of U. lactuca L. was performed by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging assay. Simultaneously anticancer activity was also performed using blood cancer (MOLT-3) cell line, and the species showed a strong selective cell proliferation inhibition of the cancer cell line. Results: The scavenging activity was measured and determined to be 78.5%. This might be due to high polyphenolic compounds and flavonoid contents of the extract, which showed maximum growth inhibition of 74.4%. Conclusion: Thus, the study concludes that the constituents of seaweeds can act as potent in treating various diseases and can be used as an alternative for therapeutic treatment

    In the present study, the algal samples were collected from temple tanks, saline water in Chennai, Mahapaliburam and Kovallam. Collections were carried out during the month of September 2010 and February 2011. Samples were studied in the laboratory and identified. In their surveyed the population, identification, morphological, and examined the Nile red method with microalgae genus of various classes. Various physical and chemical treatments were applied to the existing Nile red method to improve the effectiveness and efficiency. The following algae were present Chlorella vulgaris, Nannnochloropsis, Dunaliella tertiolecta, Tetraselmis suecica, Chlorococcum humicolo, Scenedesmus acuminatus, Amphora coffeaformis, and Nitzschia longissima. This village has 97 per cent of SC families in the total village population and majority of them are involved in fishing.     Reversible melting and equilibrium phase formation of (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+d

    The decomposition and the reformation of the (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+d (?Bi,Pb(2223)?) phase have been investigated in-situ by means of High-Temperature Neutron Diffraction, both in sintered bulk samples and in Ag-sheathed monofilamentary tapes. Several decomposition experiments were performed at various temperatures and under various annealing atmospheres, under flowing gas as well as in sealed tubes, in order to study the appropriate conditions for Bi,Pb(2223) formation from the melt. The Bi,Pb(2223) phase was found to melt incongruently into (Ca,Sr)2CuO3, (Sr,Ca)14Cu24O41 and a Pb,Bi-rich liquid phase. Phase reformation after melting was successfully obtained both in bulk samples and Ag-sheathed tapes. The possibility of crystallising the Bi,Pb(2223) phase from the melt was found to be extremely sensitive to the temperature and strongly dependent on the Pb losses. The study of the mass losses due to Pb evaporation was complemented by thermogravimetric analysis which proved that Pb losses are responsible for moving away from equilibrium and therefore hinder the reformation of the Bi,Pb(2223) phase from the melt. Thanks to the full pattern profile refinement, a quantitative phase analysis was carried out as a function of time and temperature and the role of the secondary phases was investigated. Lattice distortions and/or transitions were found to occur at high temperature in Bi,Pb(2223), Bi,Pb(2212), (Ca,Sr)2CuO3 and (Sr,Ca)14Cu24O41, due to cation diffusion and stoichiometry changes. The results indicate that it is possible to form the Bi,Pb(2223) phase from a liquid close to equilibrium conditions, like Bi(2212) and Bi(2201), and open new unexplored perspectives for high-quality Ag-sheathed Bi,Pb(2223) tape processing.Comment: 45 pages (including references,figures and captions), 13 figures Submitted to Supercond.     The undergraduate Fisheries Science students are required to know about the inland and marine fisheries. The students from landlocked area are getting rare opportunity to understand the marine fisheries and mariculture activities. Hence, based on the request of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Tripura as a part of their academic activities, the Director, ICAR-CMFRI, has kindly approved a 10 days in-plant training for B.F.Sc. final year students at the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Mandapam Regional Centre. The training was organized in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC), ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi. A total of 27 B.F.Sc students and a faculty of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Tripura participated in the training programme during 17th to 26th January, 2020. The training emphasized on the skill development of students through hands on training on mariculture activities and field visits to fish landing centres.     EFFICIENT SECRECY MAINTAINING CERTIFICATION SCHEME FOR VANET

    Abstract VANET are one of the new promising techniques used to enable communication on roads. Here for VANETs an efficient secrecy maintaining authentication scheme is done .To detect anonymous authentication group signature is used widely used but in previous scheme it suffers from long computation delay in CRL (certificate revocation list) checking. It leads to a high message loss.so they cannot achieve the target of receiving 100 of messages per second.so HMAC is used here to avoid time consuming CRL checking and to ensure the integrity of messages before batch group authentication. To reduce authentication burden each vehicle needs to verify a small number of messages using cooperative message authentication among entities. Hence security and performance analysis shows that our scheme is more efficient in terms of authentication speed by keeping conditional privacy in VANETs. Thus the proposed scheme is analyzed through simulations in NS2 and proved to out performs the existing available techniques. Introduction In the advanced development of wireless communication technologies, car manufactures and telecom industries help to equip each vehicle with wireless devices. It allows vehicles to communicate with each other as well as with other vehicles network communication devices like road side units (RSU) and Trustedauthority (TA)etc. Generally a VANET consists of three components they are onboard units, Road side units and a central trusted authority. In VANET when vehicles communicate with each other and also with RSU and TA in which the attackers can easily get users private information such as identity, tracing etc. The reason is that they are not properly protected so we should design an efficiency secrecy maintaining authentication scheme for VANET. In previous scheme group signature is used for detecting unknown authentication so for which any group member allows to sign behalf of the group without reveling its real identity. So when a vehicle receives a message from unknown entity, a vehicle has to check the (certificate revocation list) CRL to avoid communicate with revoked vehicles. Also To verify the sender's group signature to check the validity of the received message. The problem here occurs is the time consuming for CRL checking because it takes 11ms to verify a message with a group signature and 9ms to check one identity in CRL. If n revoked number in CRL th number of messages verified in one second is 1000/9n+1 it is very smaller than the target of verifying 600.so we should try to overcome the delay caused by CRL checking and group signature verification to achieve rapid authentication. Thus an efficient privacy authentication scheme for VANET has been done through RSU by jointly using the techniques of distributed management, HMAC, group signature verification and cooperative authentication. First dividing the precinct into several domains so the system can run in a localized manner. Then HMAC is calculated with group key generated by the self-healing group-key generation algorithm which reduces time consuming CRL checking and ensure the integrity of messages before batch verification.     Broodstock development through regulation of photoperiod and controlled breeding of silver pompano, Trachinotus blochii (Lacepede, 1801) in India

    The silver pompano, Trachinotus blochii is recognised as a promising species for mariculture. In India, broodstock development, controlled breeding and seed production of silver pompano was achieved for the first time at Mandapam Regional Centre of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. Sub-adult fishes collected from the wild were grown in circular sea cages of 6 m diameter and 3.5 m depth. Twelve fishes were selected from a sea cage and acclimatized to laboratory conditions. Among these, four fishes (1 female and 3 males) were pre-conditioned to sexual maturity in a 10 t FRP tank with photoperiod control facility (2000 lux; 14 L: 10 D). In about 2 months, the gonads reached right stage for spawning. The brooders were administered human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) intramuscularly, at a dosage of 350 IU kg body weight-1. A total of 5 experiments were conducted and successful spawnings were obtained resulting in the production of fertilized eggs. The time taken for spawning ranged from 30-36 h. The total number of eggs spawned ranged from 0.08 to 0.184 million. The fertilization percentage varied from 75 to 95. Freshly spawned eggs measured above 900 ╬╝. The success obtained in all the consecutive five experiments indicated that predictable spawnings of pompano could be achieved by employing the techniques developed

    Keeping an aquarium at home and watching the natureтАЩs beauty in the comforts of our living room can help to improve mental well-being and overall health of an individual. The history of fish keeping as a hobby can be traced back to ancient civilizations such as Sumerians, Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians and also in ancient China and Rome. The earliest reports of keeping fish in glass containers dates back to mid 1700s in England where gold fish was kept in glass containers. Presently aquarium keeping is a favourite pastime hobby which is the second most popular hobby after photography. A report by American Pet Products Association showed that in 2019/2020, fish occupied third position after dogs and cats in the number of households keeping pets. The global ornamental fish trade is a multibillion dollar industry worth around $ 15-30 billion which covers retail sales, accessories, wages and non-exported products (INFOFISH, 2021). The ornamental fish trade is supported by supply from developing countries in the tropical and subtropical regions where it offers avenues for employment and livelihood opportunities for rural population. The major source countries of ornamental fish in the global trade are from South East Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong andIndonesia) followed by China, Amazon region, and regions of the African Great Lakes.The countries in SE Asia have developed large scale commercial breeding units and farms of ornamental fish wherein more than 95% of freshwater ornamental fish traded are produced in captivity. After the Second World War the trade showed a significant increase, perhaps due to the introduction of civil aviation (Tissera, 2010; Monticini, 2010)
