Un auditorio al aire libre en la antigua feria del campo en Madrid, España

This work describes the stage and the complementary services carried out for the conditionning of the courtyard for expositions inside the «Feria del Campo» in Madrid, as a ground for Pop concerts and other multitudinous entertainments. Its study awakes interest, not only by the newness of its construction but also by its technology, the lasting of execution as well as the peculiarity of its extreme conditions: a pillar of the huge and sophisticated contemporary tecnologies of communication. It stands out among the peculiarities that characterize it: - The solution for the entrance and exit of the public so as for the loading and unloading of the goods that makes cecassary the acommodation of the surroundings: modification and construction of pavillions and adjoined service buildings and gardens. - The size of the constructive elements, which have been the object of a careful study, and the modification of the project along the search of the wellknown optimums: functionalism, economy, laying out simpleness: a clear span beam of 75 m. - The setting up process, that needed an operative modulation of the parts, needed at the same time independent constructive elements.Se presenta en este artículo el escenario y servicios complementarios construidos para acondicionar la Pista de Exposiciones de la Antigua Feria del Campo de Madrid, como recinto para conciertos Pop y otros espectáculos multitudinarios. Su estudio despierta interés, no sólo por lo reciente de su realización, sino también por la tecnología que para la misma se empleó, tanto por los plazos de ejecución, como por sus singulares y extremas condiciones de uso previstas: soporte de amplias y aparatosas tecnologías contemporáneas de la comunicación. Entre las peculiaridades que caracterizan el proyecto destacan: - La solución de acceso y evacuación del público; así como de carga y descarga de mercancías, lo cual exige acondicionamiento del amplio entorno de influencia del recinto: modificación y construcción de edificaciones y pabellones de servicio adyacentes, junto con la jardinería. - Las dimensiones de los elementos constructivos empleados, que han exigido el continuo estudio y modificación del proyecto a lo largo de su planteamiento en busca de los consabidos óptimos: función - economía - sencillez de planteamiento: 75 m de vano en una viga-puente. - El proceso de montaje, que exigió una modulación de piezas operativa, exigió a la vez una independencia en la ejecución de los elementos constructivo

We are presenting a project for a type of footbridges for pedestrian overpasses of railway tracks. The proposed model, which may be adapted to different geometrical conditions and sites, is completely made of steel, because this material is adequate to the spans and loads of this type of structures. We have designed a slender structure of simple appearance in order to stress its functional character.Presentamos un proyecto de pasarelas tipo, para resolver el paso de peatones sobre vías de ferrocarril. El modelo, propuesto para ser adaptado a diferentes condiciones geométricas y de lugar, se ha concebido íntegramente en acero, material cuyas prestaciones son especialmente perceptibles en luces y sobrecargas como las que se nos plantean. Nuestra intención ha sido conseguir un elemento estructural de la máxima esbeltez, simplificando su aspecto para acentuar su carácter funcional

This article is an analysis of the course of the journal "Informes de la Construction" - "Building Reports" - over the wide panorama of its forty years since its appearance in 1948 to today. The author, who owns a complete collection of the journal, shows himself to have been an assiduous reader, allowing him to give an exhaustive view comparing it with corresponding publications of other countries, and to draw pertinent conclusions from his study. Finally, he makes a number of suggestions which will be most useful for the future of the journal.Constituye el presente artículo un análisis de la trayectoria de la revista "Informes de la Construcción", a través del amplio panorama que constituyen los 40 años que se cumplen en estas fechas, desde su aparición en 1948. Su autor, que posee la colección completa, demuestra haber sido lector asiduo permitiéndole realizar una exhaustiva revisión comparada con las publicaciones análogas del Extranjero, y extraer en consecuencia oportunas conclusiones. Finalmente, aduce unos consejos que seguramente serán muy útiles para el futuro de nuestra revista

Cerramiento de vidrio para un edificio. Polideportivo en Madrid/España

This is an analysis of a glass wall realized in a sports centre in Madrid, in which sport takes place above ground level, in a building of five storeys. The façade of one storey is designed to be totally transparent, so that the building from the outside gives the impression of being «in sections». The window-wall, with a surface area of approximately 47.11 m by 20.24 m, Is achieved by using large sheets of laminated glass, approximately 2.20 m by 3.00 m, tield in place by six suction devices in a metal frame suspended without other support from the roof. From the exterior this material appears with no visible carpentry, with open joints which act as drainage channels. With recent developments in building and technology we can consider using wall materials adaptable to all external conditions, and which allow more possibilities than traditional construction materials. This is especially important for public amenity buildings which, like this one, must present an original and stimulating image, at times, as in this case, displaying to the outside word the activity within.Presentamos un análisis del cerramiento de vidrio realizado en un edificio polideportivo en Madrid, en el que el deporte se organiza en altura, en una construcción de cinco plantas, una de cuyas fachadas se concibe como totalmente transparente, mostrando el edificio "seccionado" al exterior El muro cortina, de 47,11x20,24 m de superficie, se resuelve con grandes piezas de vidrio laminado, de 2,20x3,00 m, aproximadamente, sujetas mediante seis piezas de presión a la estructura metálica que cuelga enteramente de la cubierta. Aparece este material al exterior sin carpintería, con juntas abiertas que funcionan como canales de drenaje. Hoy el desarrollo de la construcción y la tecnología hacen posible el planteamiento de cerramientos cuya flexibilidad de funcionamiento se adapta a las condiciones exteriores y proporciona mayores prestaciones que los de construcción tradicional. Fear of becoming pregnant among female healthcare students in Spain

The inconsistent use of hormonal contraceptive methods can result, during the first year of use, in one in twelve women still having an undesired pregnancy. This may lead to women experiencing fear of becoming pregnant (FBP). We have only found one study examining the proportion of FBP among women who used hormonal contraceptives. To gather further scientific evidence we undertook an observational, cross-sectional study involving 472 women at a Spanish university in 2005–2009. The inclusion criteria were having had vaginal intercourse with a man in the previous three months and usual use for contraception of a male condom or hormonal contraceptives, or no method of contraception. The outcome was FBP. The secondary variables were contraceptive method used (oral contraceptives; condom; none), desire to increase the frequency of sexual relations, frequency of sexual intercourse with the partner, the sexual partner not always able to ejaculate, desire to increase the partner’s time before orgasm, age and being in a stable relationship. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to determine the associated factors. Of the 472 women, 171 experienced FBP (36.2%). Factors significantly associated (p < 0.05) with this FBP were method of contraception (condom and none), desire to increase the partner’s ability to delay orgasm and higher frequency of sexual intercourse with the partner. There was a high proportion of FBP, depending on the use of efficient contraceptive methods. A possible solution to this problem may reside in educational programmes. Qualitative studies would be useful to design these programmes
