    El objetivo del proyecto es diseñar una plataforma de experimentación para automatizar ensayos basados en el proceso de inmersión multicapa con muestras de film de polietileno para mejorar su capacidad barrera al oxígeno, construirla teniendo en cuenta las limitaciones presupuestarias, y controlarla de forma que se puedan modificar los parámetros del proceso en cada uno de los ensayos.     El Odontólogo es un profesional de las Ciencias de la Salud que se ocupa del restablecimiento y mantenimiento de la salud oral desde un punto de vista multidisciplinar, incluyendo procedimientos diversos como la prevención, el tratamiento y mantenimiento periodontal, la terapéutica conservadora y la rehabilitación protésica. Las enfermedades periodontales constituyen la patología que con más frecuencia afecta a la población adulta, y su consecuencia directa, el edentulismo, constituye un problema al que el clínico debe hacer frente en su práctica clínica diaria. Con el fin de mostrar la relación entre las enfermedades periodontales y otras patologías que afectan a la cavidad oral, junto con la importancia del manejo odontológico multidisciplinario, exponemos dos casos clínicos: en el primero, una paciente de 52 años presenta patología periodontal aguda, edentulismo severo y disfunción temporomandibular. En el segundo, un paciente de 66 años presenta una deficiente higiene oral, periodontitis crónica y múltiples caries dentales. Se exponen diferentes planes de tratamiento para la resolución de cada uno de los casos, en los que se contempla la estabilización del estado de salud oral, así como la rehabilitación de la función oral de manera satisfactoria

    Basement structure of the Hontomín CO2 storage site (Spain) determined by integration of microgravity and 3-D seismic data

    A multidisciplinary study has been carried out in Hontomín (Spain) to determine the basement structural setting, its geometry and the geometry of the sedimentary succession of an area aimed to be the first Spanish pilot plant for CO2 storage. An integration of coincident 3-D seismic results, borehole data and unpublished microgravity data were used to reproduce the deep structure and topography of the basement and to quantify the thickness of the Triassic Keuper evaporites. The subsurface structure is characterized by a half-graben setting filled with Keuper evaporites (up to 2000m thick), forming an extensional forced fold. All data sets clearly identify two main fault systems, compartmentalizing the main structural domain into three differentiated blocks.     Impact of operatoŕs experience on peri-procedural outcomes with Watchman FLX: Insights from the FLX-SPA registry

    Background: The Watchman FLX is a device upgrade of the Watchman 2.5 that incorporates several design enhancements intended to simplify left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and improve procedural outcomes. This study compares peri-procedural results of LAAO with Watchman FLX (Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachusetts) in centers with varying degrees of experience with the Watchman 2.5 and Watchman FLX. Methods: Prospective, multicenter, 'real-world' registry including consecutive patients undergoing LAAO with the Watchman FLX at 26 Spanish sites (FLX-SPA registry). Implanting centers were classified according to the center's prior experience with the Watchman 2.5. A further division of centers according to whether or not they had performed ≤ 10 or > 10Watchman FLX implants was prespecified at the beginning of the study. Procedural outcomes of institutions stratified according to their experience with the Watchman 2.5 and FLX devices were compared. Results: 359 patients [mean age 75.5 (SD8.1), CHA2DS2-VASc 4.4 (SD1.4), HAS-BLED 3.8(SD0.9)] were included. Global success rate was 98.6%, successful LAAO with the first selected device size was achieved in 95.5% patients and the device was implanted at first attempt in 78.6% cases. There were only 9(2.5%) major peri-procedural complications. No differences in efficacy or safety results according to the centeŕs previous experience with Watchman 2.5 and procedural volume with Watchman FLX existed. Conclusions: The Watchman FLX attains high procedural success rates with complete LAA sealing in unselected, real-world patients, along with a low incidence of peri-procedural complications, regardless of operatoŕs experience with its previous device iteration or the number of Watchman FLX devices implanted

    Vision, challenges and opportunities for a Plant Cell Atlas

    With growing populations and pressing environmental problems, future economies will be increasingly plant-based. Now is the time to reimagine plant science as a critical component of fundamental science, agriculture, environmental stewardship, energy, technology and healthcare. This effort requires a conceptual and technological framework to identify and map all cell types, and to comprehensively annotate the localization and organization of molecules at cellular and tissue levels. This framework, called the Plant Cell Atlas (PCA), will be critical for understanding and engineering plant development, physiology and environmental responses. A workshop was convened to discuss the purpose and utility of such an initiative, resulting in a roadmap that acknowledges the current knowledge gaps and technical challenges, and underscores how the PCA initiative can help to overcome them.</jats:p
