Upgrading Relational Legacy Data to eh Semantic Web
In this poster, we describe a framework composed of the R2O mapping language and the ODEMapster processor to upgrade relational legacy data to the Semantic Web. The framework is based on the declarative description of mappings between relational and ontology elements and the exploitation of such mapping descriptions by a generic processor capable of performing both massive and query driven data upgrade
Fund Finder: A case study of database-to-ontology mapping
The mapping between databases and ontologies is a basic problem when trying to "upgrade" deep web content to the semantic web. Our approach suggests the declarative definition of mappings as a way to achieve domain independency and reusability. A specific language (expressive enough to cover some real world mapping situations like lightly structured databases or not 1st normal form ones) is defined for this purpose. Along with this mapping description language, the ODEMapster processor is in charge of carrying out the effective instance data migration. We illustrate this by testing both the mappings definition and processor on a case study
R2O, an extensible and semantically based database-to-ontology mapping language
We present R2O, an extensible and declarative language to describe mappings between relational DB schemas and ontologies implemented in RDF(S) or OWL. R2O provides an extensible set of primitives with welldefined semantics. This language has been conceived expressive enough to cope with complex mapping cases arisen from situations of low similarity between the ontology and the DB models
Repetitive Movements in Melon Cultivation Workers under Greenhouses
Musculoskeletal disorders cause serious problems that affect workers in many sectors. The objective of this study is the ergonomic analysis of melon cultivation farmers in Almeria-type greenhouses. For this, the rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) method has been applied after carrying out a detailed process of observing the farmersâ tasks. The study shows that 65% of the postures have a very-high-risk level, 26% high, 9% average, and no posture is found with a low risk. They also show that in 69.57% of the postures, the upper limbs are less affected than the others such as the neck, trunk, and lower limbs. Measures are proposed to improve the working conditions for workers
Compound orbits break-up in constituents: an algorithm
In this paper decomposition of periodic orbits in bifurcation diagrams are
derived in unidimensional dynamics system , being an
unimodal function. We proof a theorem which states the necessary and sufficient
conditions for the break-up of compound orbits in their simpler constituents. A
corollary to this theorem provides an algorithm for the computation of those
orbits. This process closes the theoretical framework initiated in (Physica D,

Determinants of Food Safety Level in Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalersâ Supply Chain: Evidence from Spain and France
Food safety management in short supply chains of fruit and vegetables, controlled by large retailers, has been widely studied in the literature. However, when it comes to traditional long supply chains, which include a greater number of intermediaries and wholesalers who, in some cases, play a dual role as resellers and producers, the mechanisms which promote the use of safety certifications have yet to be clearly defined. The present study intended to fill this gap in the literature and shed light on the food safety level that exists in this channel. In addition, this work attempted to identify the existence of differences between both sales systems. For this purpose, the empirical research studied the most important variables that influence the food safety level of some of the main European fruit and vegetable wholesalers. A survey was thus designed and later applied to Spanish and French intermediaries working in key wholesale markets and in the southeast of Spain, which is the leading commercialization area of these products in Europe. The results revealed the positive influence of specific customers (big retailers) on establishing stricter safety controls within wholesale companies. It was also observed that specific wholesalers also play an important role in the system, namely those dedicated to importing, but which are also responsible for quality and safety inspection of agri-food products exported from third countries into the European Union
A Rich Morphological Diversity of Biosaline Drying Patterns Is Generated by Different Bacterial Species, Different Salts and Concentrations: Astrobiological Implications
Biosaline formations (BSFs) are complex self-organized biomineral patterns formed by ââhibernatingââ bacteria
as the biofilm that contains them dries out. They were initially described in drying biofilms of Escherichia coli
cells + NaCl. Due to their intricate 3-D morphology and anhydrobiosis, these biomineralogical structures are of
great interest in astrobiology. Here we report experimental data obtained with various alkali halide salts (NaF,
NaCl, NaBr, LiCl, KCl, CsCl) on BSF formation with E. coli and Bacillus subtilis bacteria at two saline
concentrations: 9 and 18 mg/mL. Our results indicate that, except for LiCl, which is inactive, all the salts
assayed are active during BSF formation and capable of promoting the generation of distinctive drying patterns
at each salt concentration. Remarkably, the BSFs produced by these two bacterial species produce characteristic
architectural hallmarks as the BSF dries. The potential biogenicity of these biosaline drying patterns is studied,
and the astrobiological implications of these findings are discusse
