Two-Particle Schroedinger Equation Animations of Wavepacket-Wavepacket Scattering (revised)
A simple and explicit technique for the numerical solution of the
two-particle, time-dependent Schr\"{o}dinger equation is assembled and tested.
The technique can handle interparticle potentials that are arbitrary functions
of the coordinates of each particle, arbitrary initial and boundary conditions,
and multi-dimensional equations. Plots and animations are given here and on the

Trigonometric parallaxes of young field L dwarfs
(Abridged) We aim to determine the trigonometric parallaxes and proper
motions of a sample of ten field L0-L5 dwarfs with spectroscopic evidence for
low-gravity atmospheres. We obtained J and Ks imaging data using 2-4-m class
telescopes with a typical cadence of one image per month between 2010 January
and 2012 December. We also obtained low resolution optical spectra (R~300,
500-1100 nm) using the 10-m GTCs to assess the presence of lithium absorption
in four targets and confirm their young age. Trigonometric parallaxes and
proper motions were derived to typical accuracies of 1 mas and +/-10 mas/yr.
All ten L dwarfs have large motions, and are located at distances between 9 and
47 pc. They lie above and on the sequence of field dwarfs in the absolute J and
K_s magnitude versus spectral type and luminosity versus Teff diagrams,
implying ages similar to or smaller than those typical of the field. The
detection of atomic lithium in the atmosphere of 2MASS J00452143+1634446 is
reported for the first time. Three dwarfs have locations in the HR diagram
indicative of old ages and high masses consistent with the observed lithium
depletion previously published. We did not find evidence for the presence of
astrometric companions with minimum detectable masses typically >=25 Mjup and
face-on, circular orbits with periods between 60-90 d and 3 yr around eight
targets. The astrometric and spectroscopic data indicate that about 60-70% of
the field L-type dwarfs in our sample with evidence for low-gravity atmospheres
are indeed young-to-intermediate-age brown dwarfs of the solar neighborhood
with expected ages and masses in the intervals 10-500 Myr and 11-45 Mjup. The
peaked-shape of the H-band spectra of L dwarfs, a signpost of youth, appears to
be present up to ages of 120-500 Myr and intermediate-to-high gravities.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&
Identifying and preventing burnout in young oncologists, an overwhelming challenge in the COVID-19 era: a study of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM)

Young oncologists are at particular risk of professional burnout, and this could have a significant impact on their health and care of their patients. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has forced rapid changes in professionals' jobs and training, with the consequent physical and psychological effects. We aimed to characterize burnout levels and determinants in young oncologists, and the effects of the pandemic on their training and health.
Methods
Two online surveys were conducted among oncology residents and young oncology specialists in Spain. The first addressed professional burnout and its determinants before the COVID-19 pandemic, while the second analyzed the impact of the pandemic on health care organization, training, and physical and psychological health in the same population.
Results
In total, 243 respondents completed the first survey, and 263 the second; 25.1% reported significant levels of professional burnout. Burnout was more common among medical oncology residents (28.2%), mainly in their second year of training. It was significantly associated with a poor work–life balance, inadequate vacation time, and the burnout score. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (72%) were reassigned to COVID-19 care and 84.3% of residents missed part of their training rotations. Overall, 17.2% of this population reported that they had contracted COVID-19, 37.3% had scores indicating anxiety, and 30.4% moderate to severe depression. Almost a quarter of young oncologists (23.3%) had doubts about their medical vocation.
Conclusions
Burnout affects a considerable number of young oncologists. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on causes of burnout, making it even more necessary to periodically monitor it to define appropriate detection and prevention strategies.This project received funding from the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM)
Breeding season of the South American fur seal (Arctocephalus Australis, Otariidae: Carnivora): new data for establishing independent evolutionary histories?
The South American fur seal (SAFS) is distributed from Peru (Pacific Ocean) to Uruguay (Atlantic Ocean). However, there is a section of coastline of about 2,300 km along the Chilean coast where no SAFS are recorded. Based on morphological comparisons 3 geographic forms have been reported (Peruvian, South Chilean, Atlantic), whereas preliminary genetic studies suggest the presence of 3 distinct genetic types (Peruvian, South Chile, Atlantic). However, both of these approaches are support only the existence of 2 independent evolutionary histories for SAFS (Peruvian, Atlantic), in which case, we would also expect to find some differences in the species’ life histories among these locals populations (e.g., in the timing of the breeding season). In this study, we compare the breeding seasons of SAFS at Punta Pichalo (19°36’S-Chile), Isla Guafo (43°33’S-Chile), and Isla de Lobos (35°01’S-Uruguay) with data published for Punta San Juan (15°21’S-Peru). The periods for establishing territories, pupping, and mating took place on similar dates at Isla Guafo and Isla de Lobos, but occurred about a month earlier at Punta Pichalo and Punta San Juan. Pupping peaked at Isla Guafo on 15-December, at Isla de Lobos on 17-December, and at Punta Pichalo on 27-November. These differences in timing were not related to demographic, oceanographic or photoperiod conditions of the breeding sites under study, neither is related with the latitudinal effects on the breeding phenology. Based on results, we suggest that certain characteristics of life history can help identify species with independent evolutionary historie
The K2-ESPRINT Project. I. Discovery of the Disintegrating Rocky Planet K2-22b with a Cometary Head and Leading Tail
We present the discovery of a transiting exoplanet candidate in the K2
Field-1 with an orbital period of 9.1457 hr: K2-22b. The highly variable
transit depths, ranging from 0\% to 1.3\%, are suggestive of a planet
that is disintegrating via the emission of dusty effluents. We characterize the
host star as an M-dwarf with K. We have obtained
ground-based transit measurements with several 1-m class telescopes and with
the GTC. These observations (1) improve the transit ephemeris; (2) confirm the
variable nature of the transit depths; (3) indicate variations in the transit
shapes; and (4) demonstrate clearly that at least on one occasion the transit
depths were significantly wavelength dependent. The latter three effects tend
to indicate extinction of starlight by dust rather than by any combination of
solid bodies. The K2 observations yield a folded light curve with lower time
resolution but with substantially better statistical precision compared with
the ground-based observations. We detect a significant "bump" just after the
transit egress, and a less significant bump just prior to transit ingress. We
interpret these bumps in the context of a planet that is not only likely
streaming a dust tail behind it, but also has a more prominent leading dust
trail that precedes it. This effect is modeled in terms of dust grains that can
escape to beyond the planet's Hill sphere and effectively undergo `Roche lobe
overflow,' even though the planet's surface is likely underfilling its Roche

Paediatricians provide higher quality care to children and adolescents in primary care: A systematic review
Aim: The number of primary care paediatricians is decreasing in Europe without a justifiable reason. We aimed to compare the clinical practice of paediatricians and family doctors attending children and adolescents in primary care.
Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, CENTRAL, TRIP and Google Scholar were searched from December 2008 to February 2018. No language or study design restrictions were applied. Three reviewers assessed eligibility of the studies. Seven pairs of reviewers performed the data extraction and assessed the methodological quality independently. Discrepancies were resolved by consensus.
Results: Fifty-four, out of 1150 studies preselected, were included. We found that paediatricians show more appropriate pharmacology prescription patterns for the illness being treated; they achieve higher vaccination rates and have better knowledge of vaccines and fewer doubts about vaccine safety; their knowledge and implementation of different screening tests are better; they prescribe psychoactive drugs more cautiously and more in line with current practice guidelines; their evaluation and treatment of obesity and lipid disorders follow criteria more consistently with current clinical practice guidelines; and they perform fewer diagnostic test, show a more suitable use of the test and request fewer referrals to specialists.
Conclusion: According to published data, in developed countries, paediatricians provide higher quality care to children than family doctors

Radio Emission from Ultra-Cool Dwarfs
The 2001 discovery of radio emission from ultra-cool dwarfs (UCDs), the very
low-mass stars and brown dwarfs with spectral types of ~M7 and later, revealed
that these objects can generate and dissipate powerful magnetic fields. Radio
observations provide unparalleled insight into UCD magnetism: detections extend
to brown dwarfs with temperatures <1000 K, where no other observational probes
are effective. The data reveal that UCDs can generate strong (kG) fields,
sometimes with a stable dipolar structure; that they can produce and retain
nonthermal plasmas with electron acceleration extending to MeV energies; and
that they can drive auroral current systems resulting in significant
atmospheric energy deposition and powerful, coherent radio bursts. Still to be
understood are the underlying dynamo processes, the precise means by which
particles are accelerated around these objects, the observed diversity of
magnetic phenomenologies, and how all of these factors change as the mass of
the central object approaches that of Jupiter. The answers to these questions
are doubly important because UCDs are both potential exoplanet hosts, as in the

Kama muta: conceptualizing and measuring the experience of being moved across 19 nations and 15 languages
English-speakers sometimes say that they feel moved to tears, emotionally touched, stirred, or that something warmed their heart; other languages use similar passive contact metaphors to refer to an affective state. We propose and measure the concept of kama muta to understand experiences often given these and other labels. Do the same experiences evoke the same kama muta emotion across nations and languages? We conducted studies in 19 different countries, five continents, 15 languages, with a total of 3542 participants. We tested the construct while validating a comprehensive scale to measure the appraisals, valence, bodily sensations, motivation, and lexical labels posited to characterize kama muta. Our results are congruent with theory and previous findings showing that kama muta is a distinct positive social relational emotion that is evoked by experiencing or observing a sudden intensification of communal sharing. It is commonly accompanied by a warm feeling in the chest, moist eyes or tears, chills or piloerection, feeling choked up or having a lump in the throat, buoyancy and exhilaration. It motivates affective devotion and moral commitment to communal sharing. While we observed some variations across cultures, these five facets of kama muta are highly correlated in every sample, supporting the validity of the construct and the measure.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
