    Visible neutrino decay in the light of appearance and disappearance long-baseline experiments

As novelty, on top of the typical invisible decay prescription, we add the contribution of visible decay, where final products can be observed. This new effect depends on the nature of the neutrino-Majoron coupling, which can be of scalar or pseudoscalar type. Using the combination of disappearance data from MINOS and disappearance and appearance data from T2K, for normal ordering, we constrain the decay para alpha E Gamma for the heaviest neutrino, where E and are the neutrino energy and width, respectively.     Dichlorido(3-phenyl­indenyl­idene)bis­(triphenyl­phosphane)ruthenium(II) tetra­hydro­furan disolvate

    The RuII atom in the title compound, [RuCl2(C15H10)(C18H15P)2]·2C4H8O, has a distorted square-pyramidal conformation. The P and Cl atoms are at the base of the pyramid and the Ru—Cindenyl­idene bond is in the axial position. The two Cl ligands and the two phosphane ligands are in trans positions. The Cl—Ru—Cl and P—Ru—P angles are 157.71 (2) and 166.83 (2)°, respectively. The two independent tetra­hydro­furan (THF) solvent mol­ecules are disordered. One THF mol­ecule was refined using a split-atom model. The second THF mol­ecule was accounted for by using program PLATON/SQUEEZE [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148–155]. The molecular conformation shows three intramolecular C—H⋯Cl contacts and two C—H⋯π interactions while the crystal packing features an intermolecular C—H⋯Cl contact and two very weak intermolecular C—H⋯π contacts

    Business computing - A shared curriculum proposal for the spanish-portuguese border under the auspices of the new european higher education area

    The Bologna Declaration is leading to a change of paradigm in the context of higher education in many countries of the European Community; it has a significant impact at the level of curriculum and learning models. Therefore, any reflection and decision work on the processes of teaching/learning imposes the curricular reformulation of higher courses in an innovating way, supported by new references and assumptions. In the context of a project financed by European Community program Interreg III A, we have created a workgroup to o propose the reformulation of several courses that belong to Business Computing, from ESTiG-Portugal and from ESPZ-Spain, in an attempt to create harmony between both study plans, considering the socio-economic specific context of the border region between Braganca (Portugal) and Zamora (Spain). This article intends to describe a case-study related to the work done to achieve a curriculum for Business Computing; it describes the changes due to the recent recommendations of Bologna and governmental reflections of Portugal and Spain.This study was partly financed by the European Union with INTERREG III A funds

    Shedding light into the Chimaeridae taxonomy: the complete mitochondrial genome of the cartilaginous fish Hydrolagus mirabilis (Collett, 1904) (Holocephali: Chimaeridae)

    Cartilaginous fish are fascinating taxa, present in the folklore and art of many different cultures. Moreover, they display several unique anatomical, physiological, molecular, and behavioral characteristics making them extremely interesting from a biological perspective. Nevertheless, some crucial knowledge gaps remain, including phylogenetic relationships among extant species. Here, we produced the complete mitogenome sequence of the large-eyed rabbitfish, Hydrolagus mirabilis (Chimaeriformes). The complete mitogenome is 19,435 bp long and shows the same overall content, i.e. 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA, and two ribosomal RNA genes, as all other examined Chondrichthyan mitogenomes. Phylogenetic reconstructions including 12 Holocephalan and three outgroup Elasmobranch mitogenomes place the H. mirabilis within the family Chimaeridae but revealed paraphyletic Hydrolagus and Chimaera, in line with a previous study, highlighting the importance for collecting additional molecular data to improve phylogenetic reconstruction in this group of vertebrates.Versión del edito

    Lorentz-CPT violation, radiative corrections and finite temperature

    In this work we investigate the radiatively induced Chern-Simons-like terms in four-dimensions at zero and finite temperature. We use the approach of rationalizing the fermion propagator up to the leading order in the CPT-violating coupling bμb_\mu. In this approach, we have shown that although the coefficient of Chern-Simons term can be found unambiguously in different regularization schemes at zero or finite temperature, it remains undetermined.     Nodulation and symbiotic nitrogen fixation are mediated by several genes, both of the host legume and of the bacterium. The rhizobial regulatory nodD gene plays a critical role, orchestrating the transcription of the other nodulation genes. Rhizobium tropici strain CIAT 899 is an effective symbiont of several legumes?with an emphasis on common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)?and is unusual in carrying multiple copies of nodD, the roles of which remain to be elucidated. Results: Phenotypes, Nod factors and gene expression of nodD1 and nodD2 mutants of CIAT 899 were compared with those of the wild type strain, both in the presence and in the absence of the nod-gene-inducing molecules apigenin and salt (NaCl). Differences between the wild type and mutants were observed in swimming motility and IAA (indole acetic acid) synthesis. In the presence of both apigenin and salt, large numbers of Nod factors were detected in CIAT 899, with fewer detected in the mutants. nodC expression was lower in both mutants; differences in nodD1 and nodD2 expression were observed between the wild type and the mutants, with variation according to the inducing molecule, and with a major role of apigenin with nodD1 and of salt with nodD2. In the nodD1 mutant, nodulation was markedly reduced in common bean and abolished in leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) and siratro (Macroptilium atropurpureum), whereas a mutation in nodD2 reduced nodulation in common bean, but not in the other two legumes. Conclusion: Our proposed model considers that full nodulation of common bean by R. tropici requires both nodD1 and nodD2, whereas, in other legume species that might represent the original host, nodD1 plays the major role. In general, nodD2 is an activator of nod-gene transcription, but, in specific conditions, it can slightly repress nodD1. nodD1 and nodD2 play other roles beyond nodulation, such as swimming motility and IAA synthesis
