    Observation of the TeV gamma-ray source MGRO J1908+06 with ARGO-YBJ

    The extended gamma ray source MGRO J1908+06, discovered by the Milagro air shower detector in 2007, has been observed for about 4 years by the ARGO-YBJ experiment at TeV energies, with a statistical significance of 6.2 standard deviations. The peak of the signal is found at a position consistent with the pulsar PSR J1907+0602. Parametrizing the source shape with a two-dimensional Gauss function we estimate an extension \sigma = 0.49 \pm 0.22 degrees, consistent with a previous measurement by the Cherenkov Array H.E.S.S.. The observed energy spectrum is dN/dE = 6.1 \pm 1.4 \times 10^-13 (E/4 TeV)^{-2.54 \pm 0.36} photons cm^-2 s^-1 TeV^-1, in the energy range 1-20 TeV. The measured gamma ray flux is consistent with the results of the Milagro detector, but is 2-3 times larger than the flux previously derived by H.E.S.S. at energies of a few TeV. The continuity of the Milagro and ARGO-YBJ observations and the stable excess rate observed by ARGO-YBJ along 4 years of data taking support the identification of MGRO J1908+06 as the steady powerful TeV pulsar wind nebula of PSR J1907+0602, with an integrated luminosity above 1 TeV about 1.8 times the Crab Nebula luminosity.Comment: 6 pages, accepted for pubblication by ApJ.     Long-term Monitoring on Mrk 501 for Its VHE gamma Emission and a Flare in October 2011

    As one of the brightest active blazars in both X-ray and very high energy Îł\gamma-ray bands, Mrk 501 is very useful for physics associated with jets from AGNs. The ARGO-YBJ experiment is monitoring it for Îł\gamma-rays above 0.3 TeV since November 2007. Starting from October 2011 the largest flare since 2005 is observed, which lasts to about April 2012. In this paper, a detailed analysis is reported. During the brightest Îł\gamma-rays flaring episodes from October 17 to November 22, 2011, an excess of the event rate over 6 σ\sigma is detected by ARGO-YBJ in the direction of Mrk 501, corresponding to an increase of the Îł\gamma-ray flux above 1 TeV by a factor of 6.6±\pm2.2 from its steady emission. In particular, the Îł\gamma-ray flux above 8 TeV is detected with a significance better than 4 σ\sigma. Based on time-dependent synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) processes, the broad-band energy spectrum is interpreted as the emission from an electron energy distribution parameterized with a single power-law function with an exponential cutoff at its high energy end. The average spectral energy distribution for the steady emission is well described by this simple one-zone SSC model. However, the detection of Îł\gamma-rays above 8 TeV during the flare challenges this model due to the hardness of the spectra.     Controversy and consensus on the management of elevated sperm DNA fragmentation in male infertility: A global survey, current guidelines, and expert recommendations

    Purpose Sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) has been associated with male infertility and poor outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The purpose of this study was to investigate global practices related to the management of elevated SDF in infertile men, summarize the relevant professional society recommendations, and provide expert recommendations for managing this condition. Materials and Methods An online global survey on clinical practices related to SDF was disseminated to reproductive clinicians, according to the CHERRIES checklist criteria. Management protocols for various conditions associated with SDF were captured and compared to the relevant recommendations in professional society guidelines and the appropriate available evidence. Expert recommendations and consensus on the management of infertile men with elevated SDF were then formulated and adapted using the Delphi method. Results A total of 436 experts from 55 different countries submitted responses. As an initial approach, 79.1% of reproductive experts recommend lifestyle modifications for infertile men with elevated SDF, and 76.9% prescribe empiric antioxidants. Regarding antioxidant duration, 39.3% recommend 4–6 months and 38.1% recommend 3 months. For men with unexplained or idiopathic infertility, and couples experiencing recurrent miscarriages associated with elevated SDF, most respondents refer to ART 6 months after failure of conservative and empiric medical management. Infertile men with clinical varicocele, normal conventional semen parameters, and elevated SDF are offered varicocele repair immediately after diagnosis by 31.4%, and after failure of antioxidants and conservative measures by 40.9%. Sperm selection techniques and testicular sperm extraction are also management options for couples undergoing ART. For most questions, heterogenous practices were demonstrated. Conclusions This paper presents the results of a large global survey on the management of infertile men with elevated SDF and reveals a lack of consensus among clinicians. Furthermore, it demonstrates the scarcity of professional society guidelines in this regard and attempts to highlight the relevant evidence. Peminatan Administrasi dan Kebijakan Kesehatan Program Studi Kesehatan Masyarakat Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Universitas Tadulako Stres kerja perawat Stres kerja merupakan suatu permasalahan yang sering dialami tenaga kerja termasuk perawat. Stres kerja dapat menimbulkan terjadinya ketidaksesuaian antara individu dengan lingkungannya, semakin tinggi ketidaksesuaian antara tuntutan pekerjaan dan kemampuan individu maka akan semakin tinggi tingkat stres yang dialami. Faktor-faktor yang dapat menimbulkan stres kerja yaitu lingkungan fisik, beban kerja, shift kerja, hubungan interpersonal dan aktifitas di luar pekerjaan. Tujuan Penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan antara lingkungan fisik,beban kerja, shift kerja, hubungan interpersonal, aktifitas di luar pekerjaan dengan stres kerja perawat jiwa di RSUD Madani Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Jenis penelitian adalah survei analitik kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode total sampling. Jumlah sampel 63 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner dengan skala likert dan guttman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan beban kerja (p=0,012), hubungan shift kerja (p=0,023) hubungan interpersonal (p=0,44), dan tidak ada hubungan lingkungan fisik (p=0.963), aktifitas di luar pekerjaan (p=0,552) dengan stres kerja. Diharapkan kepada pihak Rumah Sakit agar dapat mengatasi faktor-faktor yang menjadi timbulnya stres pada perawat agar dapat meningkatkan mutu pelayanan di Rumah Sakit.
