Ice-movement history and kimberlite indicator mineral dispersal study, Pelly Bay, lower Boothia Peninsula, and Wager Plateau areas, Nunavut, Canada
This study reconstructs the ice flow history of the eastern portion of the Keewatin sector of the Laurentide Ice Sheet by integrating field work, remote imagery, and work by others. The study reveals at least seven ice flow phases during the Wisconsinan, including ice streams. A model was developed using inverse distance weighed (IDW) interpolation with GIS to identify and isolate potential kimberlite bedrock sources in kimberlite indicator mineral-rich areas in the Pelly Bay area, Nunavut. Kimberlite indicator mineral (KIM) data were normalized by “peer size” to better understand how KIM grains from three kimberlite sources are distributed within three size fractions of till. The IDW method successfully delineated previously unrecognized KIM dispersal trains that were hidden within the KIM-rich areas. The study also revealed that garnets reached their terminal grade at relatively short distances (2500-7500 m) down ice from their kimberlite sources. Mg-ilmenite is the dominant KIM in the area and Mg-ilmenite-rich samples tend to contain Cr-pyrope and orange garnets, with lesser Cr-diopside and chromite. Mg-olivine in these samples ranges from abundant to none. Mg-olivine-rich KIM in till is associated with the Umingmak kimberlites
Relatıonshıp Among Humor Styles, Internal Marketıng Practıces And Communıcatıon
Although humor at workplace provides positive results for the brands and intraorganizational management, there are only a few theorized studies proving this fact in the literature. Studies on humor at workplace can be mostly seen in the organizational behavior literature. Humor can be considered as a very critical component for both the internal customers and external customers in the marketing literature. Humor is effective in creating consumer perceptions and loyalty through various marketing channels and additionally, can be considered as a very important concept for maintaining the holistic marketing approach in internal marketing practices. Behaviors and attitudes of marketing department managers with different humor styles can increase cohesion among employees and maximize their performance. This study examines the effect of humor styles of the marketing department managers on the internal marketing practices under the moderating role of persuasive communication variable
Developed Status and Gender Effects on Computerized ToEFL Acceptance
The primary purpose of this study was to address gender and country developed status differences in computerized ToEFL acceptance. Based on previous studies, this study developed and tested a model, which included four latent variables: (1) perceived playfulness; (2) perceived usefulness; (3) perceived ease of use, and (4) behavioral intention to use. The study sample consisted of 237 international students, ranging in age from 18 to 44 years. Multigroup Structural Equation Modeling and Multiple Indicator Multiple Cause methods were used to test differences between subgroups for computerized ToEFL acceptance. This study did not find evidence of gender differences on computerized ToEFL acceptance. Moreover, participants' native country's developed status did not have an impact on the behavioral intention to use computerized ToEFL exam for international students. The implications for future research were discussed.Master of Art
I Whistleblow As I Am a University Student: An Investigation on the Relationship Between Self-Efficacy and Whistleblowing
The purpose of this study is to reveal whether there is a relationship between university students' self-efficacy and whistleblowing levels. There are two facts which attribute authenticity to this study. The first is that there are only a limited number of studies in literature dealing with these two variables together. The other is the existence of a certain amount of findings. For instance, foreign literature (literature outside Turkey) asserts that these two variables are associated with one another. It is also claimed that general self-efficacy is the premise of internal whistleblowing. In fact, contrary to the perception, which is very common in Turkish culture, that "a person with high self-efficacy does not engage in whistleblowing for anyone", foreign literature suggests that university students with high selfefficacy are more inclined to whistleblow. In the study, selfefficacy is analyzed in general terms whereas whistleblowing is dealt with under the dimensions of internal whistleblowing, external whistleblowing, and indifference. In this sense, correlation analysis was conducted in order to reveal the relationship between variables, and regression analysis was conducted for the aspect of influence. The sample of the study covers 120 participants studying in Mersin University Erdemli School of Applied Technology and Business and Erdemli Vocational School. According to the analysis results, there are significant relationships between self-efficacy and whistleblowing. The sample of the study was limited to university students due to problems of time and cost and for the sake of making analysis on the sector of education
Determination of physical properties and thermal conductivity of graphite foam with image analysis
Since pore network structures of porous materials have irregular shapes and may vary in size, the accurate characterization and virtual 3D reconstruction of these materials are of great importance for a deeper understanding of the structure and subsequent calculations. In this study, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray microcomputed tomography (µCT) images of a graphite foam sample are used for image analysis method (IAM) and virtual 3D reconstruction as non-destructive scientific tools with high accuracy. The morphological characterization and determination of effective pore diameter, porosity, specific surface area (SSA), and effective thermal conductivity (ETC) of POCO graphite foam are investigated. By examining the results obtained from the method of image analysis, it is found that there is a good agreement among the IAM results
When Employees Engage In Workplace Incivility? The Effects of Role Ambiguity and Role Conflict
The current study aims to determine the relationships between role stressors and workplace incivility. Another aim of the study is to analyze the causal relationship between role stressors – role ambiguity and role conflict. Data were collected from 108 service sector employees. The analyses found that role conflict as a dimension of role stressors effect workplace incivility positively, and role ambiguity has no significant effect on workplace incivility. Results of the regression analyses it was found that role ambiguity has not any causal effect on role conflict
Does the Perceived Organizational Support Reduce Burnout? A Survey on Turkish Health Sector
OST (Eisenberger et al., 1986; Rhoades & Eisenberger, 2002; Shore & Shore, 1995) holds that the formation of POS is encouraged by employees’ tendency to assign the organization human like characteristics (Eisenberger et al., 1986; Rhoades & Eisenberger, 2002; Shore & Shore, 1995). Burnout is a reaction to stress and job-related demands in the work place (Raiger, 2005: 72; Halbesleben and Demerouti, 2005: 208; Lee et al., 201: 405; Salmela-Aro et al., 2009: 163; Oliviera et al., 2011: 177). Burnout is analysed in one composite general burnout measure consisting of three dimensions namely, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment. Emotional exhaustion refers to the deplation of emotional resources of person. Depersonalisation refers maintaining a remote and negative attitude towards one’s collegues and disregard ind them. And lastly reduced personal accomplishment means considering oneself negative and inadequate in regard to job performance (Evers, et al., 2004: 132; Raiger, 2005: 72). The aim of this study was to examine the effect of perceived organisational support on burnout. Besides it was investigated the effect of perceived organisational support on the dimensions of burnout. Data were collected from 103 health workers who are working in a private older people health caring home. Maslach Burnout Inventory was used to assess the burnout level. To assess the perceived organisational support was used measure developed by Eisenberg et al., (1986)
BreCaHAD: A dataset for breast cancer histopathological annotation and diagnosis
Objectives: Histopathological tissue analysis by a pathologist determines the diagnosis and prognosis of most tumors, such as breast cancer. To estimate the aggressiveness of cancer, a pathologist evaluates the microscopic appearance of a biopsied tissue sample based on morphological features which have been correlated with patient outcome. Data description: This paper introduces a dataset of 162 breast cancer histopathology images, namely the breast cancer histopathological annotation and diagnosis dataset (BreCaHAD) which allows researchers to optimize and evaluate the usefulness of their proposed methods. The dataset includes various malignant cases. The task associated with this dataset is to automatically classify histological structures in these hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained images into six classes, namely mitosis, apoptosis, tumor nuclei, non-tumor nuclei, tubule, and non-tubule. By providing this dataset to the biomedical imaging community, we hope to encourage researchers in computer vision, machine learning and medical fields to contribute and develop methods/tools for automatic detection and diagnosis of cancerous regions in breast cancer histology images. © 2019 The Author(s)
