A finite element formulation for evaluation of crack blunting effects in elasto-plastic solids

The sharp crack model allows the use of continuum analysis, linear elasticity, as a basic for predicting a micromechanical process, fracture, by providing a characterization of loading conditions affecting a very small volume of material. The model is described in detail

User's guide for analysis of finite elastoplastic deformation: The FIPDEF and FIPAX programs for the CDC 6600

    Get PDF
Computer programs are presented which provide incremental finite-element analysis capability for problems of quasi-static, finite, elastoplastic deformation in two spatial dimensions (plane strain, plane stress, axisymmetric). Monotonic or cyclic loading of isotropic hardening materials is considered. The only restriction on the form of the stress-strain curve is that the rate of work hardening exceed some small positive value. The user's guide assumes familiarity with both finite-element analysis and FORTRAN IV programming for the CDC 6600. Sufficient information is provided to support problem solving ultization of the programs

The role of principal leadership in enhancing personal development: an analysis of bottlenecks, lags, issues and concerns (BLICS)

    Get PDF
Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between principal leadership practices and personal development within a school community. The study utilized a mixed-methods approach, including a survey of teachers and students as well as focus group interviews. The quantitative results indicated that principal leadership practices, specifically idealized influence and inspirational motivation, were positively associated with personal development. The qualitative results identified four themes that were important in promoting personal development: supportive leadership, collaboration and teamwork, a growth mindset, and personalized learning. The findings of this study suggest that the leadership practices of principals play an important role in fostering personal development within the school community. Principals who exhibit idealized influence and inspirational motivation are able to inspire and motivate their staff and students, which in turn leads to greater personal development. In addition, the qualitative findings suggest that creating a supportive environment, promoting collaboration and teamwork, fostering a growth mindset, and providing opportunities for personalized learning are important factors in promoting personal development. The implications of these findings are significant for school leaders and educators. School leaders should focus on creating a supportive environment that fosters collaboration and teamwork, promotes a growth mindset, and provides opportunities for personalized learning. By doing so, they can help to foster personal development within their school community, which can have positive implications for student achievement and well-being. Educators should also be aware of the importance of these factors and work to incorporate them into their teaching practices. This study contributes to the understanding of the relationship between principal leadership practices and personal development within the school community. Further research is needed to explore the specific mechanisms by which principal leadership practices impact personal development and to investigate the long-term effects of personal development on student achievement and well-being

Cultural Influences on Attitudes Toward the Criminal Justice System: A Focus on the Filipino American Community

    Get PDF
Based on the Individualism-Collectivism (I-C) perspective and elements of Cullen\u27s social support theory, the present exploratory analysis tested for differences in individualism and collectivism and the potential impact of such differences on attitudes toward criminal justice constructs. Survey participants were Philippine residents, Filipino immigrants to the United States, and US-born Filipino Americans. Initial results suggested minimal variations in individualism and collectivism among the three groups, however, more significant differences were found when respondents were grouped by country of birth, with US-born Filipino Americans exhibiting lower scores in collectivism and, unexpectedly, in individualism. Measures of specific I-C traits, such as independence, familism, bayanihan(community spirit). and pakikipagkapwa tao (concern for others) were found to correlate with attitudes toward a number of criminal justice constructs examined, though not always in the hypothesized direction. Lower scores in collectivist trait measures were indicative of less favorable attitudes toward rehabilitation, restorative justice, and collective efficacy. Higher measured levels of individualism corresponded with more favorable attitudes toward punishment. Discussion included implications for the Filipino American community and avenues for further research

    Finite deformation of elasto-plastic solids

A theoretical basis is established for analysis of finite deformation of metals. The observation that finite deformation of such elastoplastic materials may be viewed as a process rather than an event leads to derivation of a complete initial and boundary value problem distinguished by its quasilinear nature. This feature of the formulation motivates adoption of an incremental approach to numerical problem solving. Numerical solution capability is established for problems of plane stress and plane strain. The validity of the theory and numerical analysis is demonstrated by consideration of a number of problems of homogeneous finite deformation for which analytic solutions are available. Subsequently the analysis is employed for the investigation of necking in flat metal tensile bars. The results of this investigation provide the first full numerical solutions for tensile necking in plane stress and plane strain. In addition a basis is provided for assessment of the validity of stress-strain relations inferred from tensile test data

    RANCANG BANGUN KOMPOR BIOMASSA

BPPT tahun 2004 melaporkan subsidi bahan bakar minyak tanah sebesar Rp. 2.260/L.
