    A Quality Assessment Approach for Evolving Knowledge Bases

    Knowledge bases are nowadays essential components for any task that requires automation with some degrees of intelligence.Assessing the quality of a Knowledge Base (KB) is a complex task as it often means measuring the quality of structured information, ontologies and vocabularies, and queryable endpoints. Popular knowledge bases such as DBpedia, YAGO2, and Wikidata have chosen the RDF data model to represent their data due to its capabilities for semantically rich knowledge representation. Despite its advantages, there are challenges in using RDF data model, for example, data quality assessment and validation. In thispaper, we present a novel knowledge base quality assessment approach that relies on evolution analysis. The proposed approachuses data profiling on consecutive knowledge base releases to compute quality measures that allow detecting quality issues. Our quality characteristics are based on the KB evolution analysis and we used high-level change detection for measurement functions. In particular, we propose four quality characteristics: Persistency, Historical Persistency, Consistency, and Completeness.Persistency and historical persistency measures concern the degree of changes and lifespan of any entity type. Consistency andcompleteness measures identify properties with incomplete information and contradictory facts. The approach has been assessed both quantitatively and qualitatively on a series of releases from two knowledge bases, eleven releases of DBpedia and eight releases of 3cixty. The capability of Persistency and Consistency characteristics to detect quality issues varies significantly between the two case studies. Persistency measure gives observational results for evolving KBs. It is highly effective in case of KBwith periodic updates such as 3cixty KB. The Completeness characteristic is extremely effective and was able to achieve 95%precision in error detection for both use cases.     Completeness and Consistency Analysis for Evolving Knowledge Bases

    Assessing the quality of an evolving knowledge base is a challenging task as it often requires to identify correct quality assessment procedures. Since data is often derived from autonomous, and increasingly large data sources, it is impractical to manually curate the data, and challenging to continuously and automatically assess their quality. In this paper, we explore two main areas of quality assessment related to evolving knowledge bases: (i) identification of completeness issues using knowledge base evolution analysis, and (ii) identification of consistency issues based on integrity constraints, such as minimum and maximum cardinality, and range constraints. For completeness analysis, we use data profiling information from consecutive knowledge base releases to estimate completeness measures that allow predicting quality issues. Then, we perform consistency checks to validate the results of the completeness analysis using integrity constraints and learning models. The approach has been tested both quantitatively and qualitatively by using a subset of datasets from both DBpedia and 3cixty knowledge bases. The performance of the approach is evaluated using precision, recall, and F1 score. From completeness analysis, we observe a 94% precision for the English DBpedia KB and 95% precision for the 3cixty Nice KB. We also assessed the performance of our consistency analysis by using five learning models over three sub-tasks, namely minimum cardinality, maximum cardinality, and range constraint. We observed that the best performing model in our experimental setup is the Random Forest, reaching an F1 score greater than 90% for minimum and maximum cardinality and 84% for range constraints.Comment: Accepted for Journal of Web Semantic

    Pembahasan skripsi ini adalah tentang problematika pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam di Sekolah Samartdee Wittaya provinsi Patani Selatan Thailand dan bagaimana langkah-langkah penanggulangannya. Jenis paradigma penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data: observasi, dukumentasi, dan wawancara. Sedangkan teknik analisis datanya adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Pengcekan keabsahan data penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi, member chek, menggunakan bahan refrensi, dan diskusi dengan teman sejawat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, (1) Problematika yang ada dalam pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam tidak hanya terletak pada lingkungan sekolah saja akan tetapi peran serta keluarga yang kurang maksimal dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam juga merupakan kendala dalam pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam yang ada di Sekolah Samartdee Wittaya; (2) Solusi yang dilakukan selain menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif dan berupaya untuk melengkapi sarana prasarana yang diperlukan dalam proses pembelajaran, pihak sekolah melakukan kerja sama dengan orang tua peserta didik untuk lebih perhatian dan menjadi teladan yang baik bagi peserta didik

    Emisiones de óxido nitroso desde un suelo argiudol típico con enmiendas orgánicas y químicas

    El aumento de las fuentes de fertilización será necesario para satisfacer la creciente demanda de alimentos en todo el mundo. Por este motivo, las enmiendas orgánicas surgen como una alternativa a los fertilizantes sintéticos. El compostaje de residuos orgánicos estabiliza el contenido de nitrógeno (N) y retrasa la liberación de N al suelo. La aplicación de enmiendas compostadas al suelo podría reducir las pérdidas de N, incluido el óxido nitroso (N2O), un gas de efecto invernadero con gran potencial de calentamiento global. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la emisión de N2O desde un suelo Argiudol típico luego de aplicar un fertilizante sintético tradicional, guano de ave crudo y compostado y un suelo control. Las tasas emisión de N2O acumuladas durante los 32 días que duro el ensayo fueron 1273, 965, 423 y 244 g de N2O-N ha-1 desde el suelo con aplicación de urea, guano de ave, compost de guano de ave y control, respectivamente. Nuestros resultados sugieren que la aplicación de compost de guano al suelo produce menores emisiones de N2O que la aplicación de guano de ave crudo o de urea. La presencia de compuestos más estabilizados en el compost de guano disminuye la disponibilidad de nitrato del suelo.Diversification in fertilizer sources will be necessary to meet the growing demand for food worldwide. For this reason, organic amendments emerge as a synthetic fertilizers alternative. Composting organic waste stabilizes the nitrogen (N) content and delays N release to the soil. Applying composted amendments to the soil could reduce the losses of N, including nitrous oxide (N2O), a greenhouse gas with great potential for global warming. The objective of this work was to evaluate the N2O emission in typical Argiudol soil after applying a traditional synthetic fertilizer, raw poultry manure, composted poultry manure and control soil. Cumulative N2O emission rates during the 32 days of the trial were 1273, 965, 423, and 244 g N2O-N/ha-1 from the soil using urea, poultry manure, composted poultry manure, and control, respectively. Our results suggest that the application of composted poultry manure to the soil produces lower N2O emissions than the application of raw poultry manure or urea.     IL-8, GRO and MCP-1 produced by hepatocellular carcinoma microenvironment determine the migratory capacity of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells without affecting tumor aggressiveness

    New therapies are needed for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the use of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) carrying therapeutic genes is a promising strategy. HCC produce cytokines recruiting MSCs to the tumor milieu and modifying its biological properties. Our aim was to study changes generated on human MSCs exposed to conditioned media (CM) derived from human HCC fresh samples and xenografts. All CM shared similar cytokines expression pattern including CXCL1-2-3/GRO, CCL2/MCP- 1 and CXCL8/IL-8 being the latter with the highest concentration. Neutralizing and knockdown experiments of CCL2/MCP-1, CXCL8/IL-8, CXCR1 and CXCR2 reduced in vitro MSC migration of ≥20%. Simultaneous CXCR1 and CXCR2 neutralization resulted in 50% of MSC migration inhibition. MSC stimulated with CM (sMSC) from HuH7 or HC-PT-5 showed a 2-fold increase of migration towards the CM compared with unstimulated MSC (usMSC). Gene expression profle of sMSC showed ~500 genes differentially expressed compared with usMSC, being 46 genes related with cell migration and invasion. sMSC increased fbroblasts and endothelial cells chemotaxis. Finally, sMSC with HuH7 CM and then inoculated in HCC tumor bearing-mice did not modify tumor growth.     3cixty: Building comprehensive knowledge bases for city exploration

    International audiencePlanning a visit to Expo Milano 2015 or simply touring in Milan are activities that require a certain amount of a priori knowledge of the city. In this paper, we present the process of building such comprehensive knowledge bases that contain descriptions of events and activities, places and sights, transportation facilities as well as social activities, collected from numerous static, near-and real-time local and global data providers, including hyper local sources such as the Expo Milano 2015 official services and several social media platforms. Entities in the 3cixty KB are deduplicated, interlinked and enriched using semantic technologies. The 3cixty KB is empowering the ExplorMI 360 multi-device application, which has been officially endorsed by the E015 Technical Management Board and has gained the patronage of Expo Milano in 2015, thus has offered a unique testing scenario for the 20 million visitors along the 6 months of the exhibit. In 2016-2017, new knowledge bases have been created for the cities of London, Madeira and Singapore, as well as for the entire French Cote d'Azur area.     Prevention of fall incidents in patients with a high risk of falling: design of a randomised controlled trial with an economic evaluation of the effect of multidisciplinary transmural care

    Background. Annually, about 30% of the persons of 65 years and older falls at least once and 15% falls at least twice. Falls often result in serious injuries, such as fractures. Therefore, the prevention of accidental falls is necessary. The aim is to describe the design of a study that evaluates the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of multiple fall risk factors in independently living older persons with a high risk of falling. Methods/Design. The study is designed as a randomised controlled trial (RCT) with an economic evaluation. Independently living persons of 65 years and older who recently experienced a fall are interviewed in their homes and screened for risk of recurrent falling using a validated fall risk profile. Persons at low risk of recurrent falling are excluded from the RCT. Persons who have a high risk of recurrent falling are blindly randomised into an intervention (n = 100) or usual care (n = 100) group. The intervention consists of a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of multifactorial fall risk factors.
