Los resultados, a pesar de no ser concluyentes, son interesantes y dejan la puerta abierta a futura investigación

El tema de la muerte en la literatura oral Kawésqar (Alacalufe)

De la literatura oral de los pueblos fueguinos la más desconocida es la de los kawésqar, etnia que habita el extremo sur de Chile, y que se cuenta entre las más antiguas de las que poblaron el confin austral del continente. Este artículo presenta algunos textos miticos sobre la muerte, transmitidos oralmente y rescatados por el autor en trabajos de terreno. En estos textos se examina el tema de la muerte en relación con el sueño, y de las relaciones entre los mundos mítico y real. Se establece, asimismo, una clasificación de los relatos, sobre la base de una tipologia de la muerte.  

Understanding Students\u27 Experience with 1:1 Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning in a Mathematics Classroom

There has been a move towards integrating educational technology into K-12 mathematics classrooms. This emphasis has been partly driven by policy, increases in technology resources available, and a need to engage students in their mathematical learning. Most studies on technology integration in mathematics education are focused on teachers’ perceptions or students’ academic achievement. However, we need to learn how students perceive their learning in this type of environment. This dissertation is a basic qualitative study aimed at understanding the experiences of students with 1:1 computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) in an Algebraic Reasoning classroom. The study used the mathematical software, Desmos, as its CSCL system. The school in which this research took place fully implemented a 1:1 student-to-Chromebook program since 2016, and the participants of this study were students in a 1:1 Algebraic Reasoning classroom. The data used in this study were taken from participants’ responses to individual semi-structured interviews about their learning experiences with Desmos. Data was analyzed using Kumar et al.’s (2010) framework for effective CSCL systems which encompasses five criterions: (1) Open-ended and guided interactions, (2) interactions that can be stored centrally for meaningful interpretation, (3) predefined collaboration strategies, (4) underlying theories of collaboration represented in the software, and (5) providing active and passive feedback. Results suggest that students\u27 experiences with 1:1 CSCL in Algebraic Reasoning captured all but one them. These elements can inform educational stakeholders as to how to implement an engaging, innovative, and student-centered 1:1 CSCL mathematics environment

Thermal pollution mitigation and energy harnessing of the condensation process of an olive oil extraction refinery: a case study

This paper presents a model to assess strategies for bettering a hexane condensation system from an olive oil extraction refinery in Portugal’s mountainous north. The water used as a cooling fluid is discharged with a higher temperature than the mountain river, provoking the deterioration of the aquatic flora and fauna, leading to high environmental impact. The model allowed the comparison of solutions for different temperatures of discharge for summer and winter and possible heat recovery back to the factory. The current condensation system power is 1.838 MW and consists of a four-walled pond of 115.3 m3 that cools down the submerged hexane pipes. Nudging in the pond’s structure leads to the introduction of internal channels to increase the turbulence, thus increasing the hexane–water heat exchange rate. Heat recovery of 19.38 kW is possible for the water coming from the pond in the drying bagasse process inside the factory, before discharge into the river. However, the model demonstrates that the decrease in temperature after the heat recovery process falls short of avoiding thermal pollution, leading to complementary actions such as shading the channel or changing the discharge velocity or angle to mitigate the thermal pollution locally.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Desempeño de parteras tradicionales capacitadas en el sector salud, municipio de Iriona, comunidades garífunas, Colón, Honduras

Estudio cualitativo. La población del estudio fueron 40 parteras tradicionales capacitadas por el personal institucional de la Secretaría de Salud de Iriona en conjunto con el organismo CISP PRODESS. Los lugares seleccionados fueron: comunidades Garífunas de los municipios: Sangrelaya, Iriona Viejo y Cusuna. Se encontró que las parteras capacitadas demuestran estar conscientes de la importancia de identificar riesgos durante la atención del parto y su producto, por lo que están en constante relación de referencia de parturientas al centro de salud más cercano y de acompañamiento con las embarazadas al presentarse complicaciones antes del part
